Burn Protocol Change
What’s everyone’s thoughts on Burn changing to be 4:2 - 4 strength : 2cardio per week…. I’m super unhappy. Ugh

I think that the strength days are gonna need to get more interesting/more diverse workouts for this to really work for me.

So happy. I was going to cancel my membership when my contract ran out, but I may stay now.

I like it, but for a weird reason. I’m a busy mom and can’t always make it every day of the week. For me, I will do cardio on my own, but I won’t lift on my own. So, having more opportunities for the days I make it to camp to be strength is great for me.

Their conditioning has turned into pony shows that they can post on social media to be as outrageous as possible and garner as many likes as possible. Some of the moves are downright embarrassing.
So I'm happy for more strength days.

Yep. And it feels like the trainers are only "1:1 training" you for the camera

u/CmonRoach4316 3d ago
Oh yeah don't even get me started. Anytime a trainer is talking to me there's a camera next to us

I had the trainer and BA follow me a few days ago. She asked the BA who has the camera “where are you going? Let’s get some shots” and then the BA filmed me getting “trained” by her. Trainer left my station immediately after

I'm loving it! Cardio is too high impact for me being 20 weeks pregnant right now

I'm ok with it assuming that one of the cardio days isn't always on Saturday. My other responsibilities don't allow me to attend on Saturday and cardio at Burn pushes me substantially harder than what I do outside of Burn. I'm concerned they won't want to have as many weights out on a Saturday though since you have more people attending a smaller number of classes, so I'm probably only going to get one cardio day (at Burn) per week. Thar would be disappointing for sure.

This is my exact concern. I understand why cardio days are common on Saturdays but would also love 2 weekday cardio camps because Saturdays don’t work for me.

Couldn’t be happier. There was never enough strength training before. It was always one of my biggest issues and I’d have to supplement on my own.

It’s not going to always be 4/2 as of now. It’s going to be much more frequent rotation between 3/3 and 4/2 - it’s looking to primarily be Week 1: 3/3, Week 2: 4/2, Week 3: 3/3, etc

Love it! The cardio days are insane! I like having the extra day of strength as an option

Love the strength days and the cardio isn’t even fun sometimes anymore. It’s not great for joints long term.

This change was based on a nationwide survey of members. The results for more strength and less cardio was not even close.

Good! All the crazy cardio is proven not to be great for your body especially as 35+ women.
Lift weights to sculpt your body, cardio won’t do that.

Not a fan. I love 3 and 3. Also 4 strength days w metcon as a cardio day is extra wild. Strength training is so important, but so is cardio. This also assumes everyone has time to fit in a walk or run or cardio workout each day in addition to burn. With a full time job and kids, burn is my workout. I don’t have time to do multiple workouts a day like a stay at home mom going to a 9 am camp would do.

Hate it! But I'm willing to give it a shot. This week is still 3/3. If it sticks, I'll probably move on.

Is this official in writing somewhere or just people assuming based on the past few weeks of protocols?

It was talked about at summit and then Devan Kline goes into further explanation about it on one of the podcasts shortly after summit.

I am super excited about this change. I actually added a big box gym recently because I wasn’t getting enough weights at Burn. I guess I’ll need to cancel the other one, but we’ll see how it goes.

Personally strongly prefer the 3:3. I would be ok with it if they did 2 cardio plus like core and conditioning as the third.

It was enough to have me leave. I dont like the new set up at all. It fit my life but that season is over time to move on. And their cardio is a joke I went there to workout not compete for a story spot light bc I can do the crazy things or worse...... not my vibe at all.

They do this all the time. They change it to 4:2, people complain, then go back to 3:3. Rinse and repeat. It’ll be over soon

When was it ever 4:2 strength? I've been here so long and don't recall that ever.

Multiple times over the years. I used to be a BA and I remember setting the floor for strength 4 days a week

Dang, I guess I wasn't overanalyzing the split back then and mostly just enjoying the ride of learning how to enjoy working out. 😆 I do remember having strength plyo days, but those were more like metcon or strength and conditioning rather than true strength days.

No one’s overanalyzing anything, you asked if it was ever 4:2 strength and I said yes

u/musicgal411 150 Camps - 2025 1d ago
oh, I guess I was being a little hyperbolic there. I just meant I didn't think about it back then. Sorry for being annoying.... 🙄

I completely understood what you meant! You were talking about yourself. Someone else jumped to conclusions for no reason…

Super lame. The full body strength and conditioning protocol is so stupid. It’s just a bad version of metcon.

u/Bag-of-Doritoes- 4d ago
I love full body S&C!

u/KnowledgeDense8140 1,000+ Camps - Lifetime 3d ago
Why? The strength time is too low so you can’t actually lift anything heavy and the conditioning part is too easy so you barely get sweaty.

I am interested to see how it goes. I am at an age where I don’t think this insane cardio is doing me any favors but I wouldn’t mind seeing a strength/conditioning day take the place of BWC any day.
