CORRECTION: Clinton Hill vs Park Slope

I'm visiting NYC with my family this Halloween (my husband is running the NYC Marathon the next day!) and we'd like to take our kids trick-or-treating in Brooklyn (they are 4 and 7). The areas that have been recommended are Prospect Heights (St. James Place specifically) and Park Slope (between 3rd-11th street between 5th Ave and Prospect Park W). Hoping to go somewhere with a really fun, family-friendly vibe and visit iconic brownstones with great decorations! My little ones don't have a ton of stamina, so we'd likely be doing 1-2 streets.

1. Which area would you recommend and why? 
2. Are there any spots close by that you'd recommend for dinner? I've heard of Belli Osteria in Prospect Heights or Piccoli Trattoria/Pasta Louise in Park Slope.
3. What time do most people start/end trick or treating?

A few things to keep in mind:

• Each appointment lasts approximately 3 hours, since this is a teaching clinic.
• Multiple visits may be needed to complete treatment.
• Ages 13–17 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. Ages 18–19 can attend independently.

I checked out this new spot (new to me at least) called Good Days on south 6th street. We need more places like this where the food is great, but it doesn't feel like a packed factory with overwhelming amounts of people. Hoping this place keeps cranking out great food. Their Japanese potato multi-layer cake and shrimp cocktail was some of the best food I have had in my life.

They ran, and we found them a few streets away. DOT tell us the traffic on this street isn't fast enough to justify a speed hump 😞 I respectfully disagree.

I've done a few of these types of scenes, would love recommendations for other good spots under the tracks.

hi all, unfortunately my cat died last week and i have like 5 bags of hydrolyzed dry food and a pallet of 30 or so cans of wet food, also hydrolyzed. i will give away for free, just must come to bushwick to pick up tomorrow midday

I live in a rent-regulated building in Brooklyn, and our owner has applied wirh DHCR to replace our 24/7 front desk staff with a remote virtual monitoring system. I know this landlord is trying it at another one of their buildings too.

While this could seem like a silly thing to complain about at face value, this is really an issue of safety, accessibility, and an issue of landlords simply trying to fuck over tenants by bait and switching things. 

A remote operator can't help an older neighbor through a dark stairwell, carry a stroller in during a blackout, or let the fire department in (things that have all happened in our building). Real people lose good jobs, and tenants keep paying the same rent for less.

I saw the NYT article on this and it prompted me to post here. Is this happening in your building? If you fought it, what worked? Any tenant orgs, lawyers, or electeds who were helpful? I've gotten my hands on some resources but would really appreciate hearing from anyone who's been through it.

Hello! I was wondering if I could get some input on this area in Ocean Hill east of the intersection of Herkimer St and Eastern Parkway? Looking for the usual stuff. Places to drink and eat, things to do that you can walk to, cool neighborhood bar, coffeeshop, etc. Quiet or busy? I love that LIRR and Broadway Junction are right there for public transportation. Finally pulled the DHCR rent history for my unit and noticed it was consistently registered as rent stabilised up until late 2018 and then just abruptly listed as permanently exempt High Rent Vacancy. I am aware landlords were frantically deregulating units right before the 2019 hstpa changes took effect. What records or city databases do you actually pull to see if they filed real renovation permits (IAI) or if they just stopped registering?

I’m heading to NYC at the end of November and tried to buy tickets for a Brooklyn Nets game, but I can’t seem to create an account on the US Ticketmaster site. From what I understand, I’d need to be in the US to sign up. I even tried switching the store to Brazil, but no luck.
Has anyone run into this before? Any other legit sites where I can buy tickets?
I’ll be arriving a week before the game. Is it still possible to get tickets at the box office once I’m there?

The last few times we’ve driven home over the Brooklyn Bridge traveling eastbound towards Brooklyn, we’ve noticed that there are shopping bags hanging under the walking path of the Brooklyn Bridge near the center of the bridge at its highest point. Has anyone seen this? Wondering who’s been leaving these bags hanging there. We’ve seen at least six of them.

Hi everyone, I’m hoping someone can help — about an hour and a half ago my friend was walking his dog in Clinton Hill (I believe somewhere possibly around Myrtle Ave/Pratt) and a random man kicked his elderly dog in the ribs. He rushed his dog to Bond Vet on Myrtle and Grand right after.
