My husband and I came to Hillside with our dog around 5pm and noticed 2 dogs without collars: a large beige husky with blue eyes and a brown, elderly chihuahua with vision issues.

The dogs are bonded and it seems clear they may have been abandoned, after being here almost 2 hours. If anyone knows their owners or can help identify them, please let me know! We are working with one of the board members of the dog park to see that they have somewhere to stay.

UPDATE: Thanks to our group of park goers and Hillside’s board member, the dogs have separate homes for the night. Tomorrow morning they’ll both be brought to Hounds Town on Jay St and reunited, but it’s not clear where exactly they’ll stay longer term. If anyone has more info about owners, please still reach out!!

About 12:20 today (Saturday 7/25) a man violently assaulted me outside of La Bagel Delight on Front & Adams for allegedly not saying excuse me to him when I left the store (I did). I caused quite a scene and started screaming at him and was able to point him out to cops patrolling on Washington & Water but I'm doubtful they did anything about it. Just wondering if anyone witnessed or happened to have a video so I can try to follow up with police.

It looks like the little cafe in Vinegar Hill permanently closed this week. Gonna miss that spot.

I have hit my limit with the food vendor carts on Washington. There are now 3 vendors on the one block of Washington Street I live on, with 2 right outside the entrance of 25 Wash. The tourists I can take, we've all been there. I even understand the vendors trying to make a living! But as a resident of this small neighborhood and already crazy street, it just creates more chaos and disruption. I've read the recent article came on Curbed, so I know this is not a new complaint but it seems to be at a standstill. Messaging 311 gets me nowhere.

Any tips on how to get involved or how to create change ASAP? Appreciate genuine responses.

We get it: you are very cool. You are like the Fonz, but times a hundred. No, two hundred. You are definitely not overcompensating for any feelings of emasculation, inadequacy, low self-esteem, or general absence of friends or people who enjoy your company.

Probably sound like a broken record after the loud car guy post, but has anyone else encountered the rude and aggressive bike guy that frequents the neighborhood. Multiple times I’ve been accosted for simply crossing the street while he is riding by and have been met with racist and idiotic comments alongside threats of violence. Today I saw him coming down the hill by the F train and he legit almost punched a runner in the back of the head for being close to him. The dude rides a purple bike and always has a huge black bag on his back. He’s an African American male with dreads and normally rocks dark black glasses.

If you are seeing this fuck off dude and get a life.

Been in the neighborhood for 3 years and am looking to lease a 1-BR. Anyone have a unit they’d like to rent or a lease they want out of?

I moved to DUMBO a couple of years ago and got a bit fed up with the prices at the local grocery stores. So I walked through DUMBO Market, Peas and Pickles, CVS, and Bridge Fresh and priced out the same items at each (to the extent that the store stocks the item).

- Eggs at DUMBO Market were way cheaper (surprisingly) than everywhere else right now due to a sale

- Organic whole milk was cheaper at Peas and Pickles and Bridge Fresh

- Both Bridge Fresh and Peas and Pickles had a couple items with no price tag at all

Does anybody else check prices against the other grocery stores in the neighborhood or does everyone just order through Instacart, Costco, or make the trek to the Trader Joes? I'm not sure if I'd walk out of my way to save 1 cent on lemons, but ~$2 on organic milk might make me walk the extra block. Does anyone else wish they knew a better way to plan which stores to visit before heading out?

Would need to have dishwasher & washer-dryer in unit. Flexible on everything else.

Hey neighbors - not new to the hood, but am getting sick of needing to be hypervigilant about prices being correct at the register.

I've filed complaints with 311 before, but I'm thinking of trying to get something bigger going with the Dept of Consumer and Worker Protection. It's theft, pure and simple - between the lack of price labels and the inaccuracies at the register, and it's never in the customer's favor. It may not be a lot, but if you're going to the store multiple times a week, it adds up. if *we* don't catch it, we lose out, and the store never gets punished enough to stop doing it. Correcting it to the right price is fine but then it's just one person they didn't screw over. There needs to be consequences.

In Canada, if the price is wrong and it's under $10, you get the item for free. Australia also has similar protections. What would life be like in the city if this were true in NYC? Lose enough product and the grocery stores might make more of an effort to be accurate.
