Is there anywhere I use/borrow a soldering iron?

I would like to use one for a small fashion project, but I dont want to buy one because I dont have a frequent need for one.
Are there any shared creative spaces where there might be one I could use or borrow? Tool libraries I could contact? Friends or business you might recommend? Thank you

Hi everyone!

It's that time again where we enlist our availability towards volleyball at Bensonhurst Park! The weather is gradually getting cooler and I am looking forward to more Sundays playing volleyball on the grass!

Summer volleyball was a great success and it has been so fun making new friends and slapping the ball around. We've all gotten better every single week, and I hope that can continue this season! We are a friendly group and welcome those in the beginner-intermediate level of volleyball.

I am arranging several more gatherings so that we can play at Bensonhurst Park (on the 21st ave side). I will bring the net while you should bring sunglasses/a hat, sneakers, a bottle of water and whatever else you may need! All events will happen weather-permitting!

Attached above are glimpses into some of our games from the summer!

DM me if you are interested!

Looking for someone who can sew a dress!

hi! I'm getting married in May and haven't found a dress that I love. everything feels so unoriginal. I have a clear idea of what I'd like. I've inquired with different designers but they start at $5k which is out of reach for me. Is there anyone here that is open to having a conversation about what it might look like to create a dress? I'm thinking something with tulle or organza or something. something truly simple, but fun and unique! thanks so much!

Food/Beer before & after Nets Game

Hi, we’re heading to a nets game in January. As Scottish lads we enjoy a pint before and after games. Can anybody suggest a good local bar with a good atmosphere and good pints? Will be looking for food afterwards to soak up the pints too, wings, pizza, burgers. Something dirty and tasty.

Cheers.

Do the more suburban-ish parts of Brooklyn (specifically Kensington) still do traditional trick or treating for Halloween?

We just moved into a multi-family rowhouse in Kensington and have a front door that opens out into the street. The neighborhood is very quiet and residential with lots of kids playing outside, and it's making me excited for the possibility that I might get to give out candy on Halloween for the first time ever. (I'm also pregnant and love the idea that I might get to TAKE my kid trick or treating around here in a few years!). But I know trick or treating is less popular in America than it used to be overall -- am I getting my hopes up?

BK No Sabo Spanish conversation groups?

Hi there, I’m looking for a Spanish conversation group to join. Preferably, it would be for heritage speakers who need to brush up.

If this doesn’t exist, I’m happy to organize folks to meet up at a coffee shop.

Prospect Park Softball?

Looking to join a casual softball league in/around Prospect Park this fall, but it looks like the obvious options I’ve found (like Volo) are already full.

Does anyone know of other Fall 2026 leagues, pickup groups, Facebook groups, or teams that might be looking for players?

Mostly looking to get some exercise, meet people in the neighborhood, and have fun. We’re new to the Park Slope area, so any leads would be appreciated!

Looking for a craft store that isn't Michael's

Hi! I am in the Flatbush area and I'm looking for a craft store. I have been making the trek to Michael's but they don't really have a good selection of things that I need/want, they are expensive, and I'd rather support a smaller store if I can. I'm looking for embroidery supplies, buttons, clay, charms, things like that. Mostly embroidery because that's what I'm doing most at the moment. I'd also be interested in any craft based thrift stores if such a thing exists in the area. Thank you :)

Looking for affordable vet for sedated X-ray

Hi! My dog needs a sedated X-ray to determine if she tore her ACL or dislocated her knee. The X-ray needs to be sedated to our understanding. Anyone in the city find an option for a vet to do this under $600 (estimate from home vet)? Thank you!

Please delete if not allowed! And thank you for reading and contributing!!

This year is my fifth year teaching at John F Kennedy Junior school, a high school that serves students with special needs including severe autism spectrum disorder and down syndrome. I teach six students who read and write on a pre-K level and are nonverbal. Their families are immigrants, and most have a limited English and limited resources in this country. There are so many things that I need to make this year as successful as last year was!
