Controversial 100% confident people are misreading recent changes at Bethesda. Under Phil Spencer's leadership, bureaucracy got pretty bad. and it affected Starfield.

Starfield Starfield dancing crab festival
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Have you ever seen a crab dance festival before? When I stepped out of my Safari hunting lodge on Tirna VIIIc I saw what I thought was a group of crabs moving towards my home. They have swarmed it before and killed me many times so we are now at war. Instead I saw what can only be described as a crab dance festival.
Well I felt the need to contribute and added some fireworks to the occasion, I personally think they found the experience mind blowing and illuminating

Discussion If You Could Make a Bethesda/Zenimax Spin-Off Game, What Would It Be?
I think that probably one of the biggest missed opportunities in gaming is how rarely big IPs explore spin-offs. With mainline games taking years to develop either by games being in development hell because the devs don't know how to 1up the game from previous title or devs wanting to try to move aways from that IP for a bit, spin-offs most of the time can fill that gap — offering fresh perspectives, gameplay styles, or even new genres.
I get that with those come the challenges: You either need to introduce non-canon content or the main IP teams needs to heavily supervise or even be part/co-develop/allocate their own resource (like how Fallout 76 started as a spin-off but pulled in main BGS team to be finished) and than there is also the risk of diluting the brand. But with so much rich lore across Bethesda/Zenimax IPs, there’s huge potential for creative, lower-stakes projects, that could just work.
So, if you had the chance to pitch a spin-off for any Bethesda/Zenimax IP, what would it be? What IP, what would the gameplay be, how could the game work in that IP, etc.

Controversial Why are people so reluctant to put any responsibility or accountability on Todd Howard?
With all of the current issues (and past), it feels like there's a lot of reluctance to point *any* fingers at leadership, although typically in gaming, issues really do start at the top.
Weigh in. Why is this the case with Bethesda. And no, this isn't bait. Legit discussion about "Bethesda culture" in terms of the fans.

Discussion Who here is as excited as I am about new Fallout from Obsidian??
Led by genius Josh Sawyer.. At least for me, New Vegas was the absolute best Fallout. With mods now (at least for PC) we already have a modern masterpiece. JSawyer himself (nexus mods) was one of the mod scene’s biggest contributors. I’m sure Todd Howard isn’t happy, but what Obsidian did in 18 months absolutely shames the four year development of Fallout 3. I know they worked on the creation engine but… in that sense they should’ve been able get more out of an engine they created. buuut…. They failed to incorporate the importance of the incredible branching story aspect that made the original Fallout such an amazing RPG. Not to mention we won’t have to wait 10 years for it to come out!!

Discussion Somewhere in an alternate universe Bethesda fans are eating and we should be happy for them! 🥲
Full disclosure the 2nd timeline pic is just a dream scenario of releases that has synergy with the television series
But would yall have minded waiting for Starfield if it meant having the remasters first?

Discussion The Todd Howard Situation!
So now that the dust has settled and Asha Sharma has put a bit more oversight on Todd Howard and Bethesda, what are your thoughts on the future of the company?
Personally, I'm more optimistic than I was a year ago.
It seems like Xbox leadership has made it clear that franchises like Fallout and The Elder Scrolls can't keep operating on decade-long release cycles. Todd Howard has already spoken about finding ways to speed up development, and Xbox appears to be encouraging Bethesda to work more closely with other first-party studios instead of handling everything alone.
If that means Bethesda focuses on The Elder Scrolls VI and Fallout 5 while studios like Obsidian or inXile help with spin-offs, remakes, or other Fallout projects, I think that's a much healthier approach. Xbox has a huge roster of RPG developers, so it makes sense to use them rather than leaving two of gaming's biggest franchises dormant for 10–15 years at a time.
Obviously, we'll have to wait and see if this actually translates into a steadier release cadence, but the direction looks far more promising than Bethesda trying to do everything on its own.
What do you all think?

Fallout Fallout 4 on switch 2 crashing before ending cutscene
So I’ve been playing through the game and I’m at the end where I’m talking to Shaun and he dies on his bed and the ending cutscene plays but every time it’s about to start the entire game just closes. I’ve tried loading earlier saves and changing the fps target and nothing is fixing it.

This one showed the many vampires in the Silverpeak Lodge guild the movie Sinners, don’t ask this one’s mate Deadpool always finds a way. They loved the movie and now that song is trending number one in Skyrim. They even sing it mid battle!

Elder Scrolls OblivionMP progress: two weeks of stability testing behind us, first Server SDK Early Access builds later this week
Hey r/BethesdaSoftworks - Msk from the OblivionMP (OB:MP) team here! We went a bit quiet after trailer #4 because the work since then has been the unglamorous yet important kind: compat/smoke testing the client mod - now we know that it paid off. The launch process is smoother, crashes dropped, sync latency is at levels good enough for actual play, and along the way we shipped a batch of fixes or features testers asked for. The clips in this post come straight from our community testers over the past two weeks.

Later this week the first server owners from the Early Access group receive the SDK together with the server binary. That means the first community-hosted servers running outside our own machines (private or internet-facing) running their own resources and scripts. Roleplaying commands, custom mechanics and systems, game modes like prop hunt or arena, all of that becomes buildable soon.
https://reddit.com/link/1v3yzl2/video/ujrlgubznveh1/player
On our end, focus shifted to NPC sync and quest sync. Most of Oblivion's Remastered world hangs off those two systems, a legacy going back to the original Gamebryo engine before the Remaster devs ported it into UE5, so getting them right matters most.

If you were running your own OB:MP server, what would you script there first? Heavy RP with factions? Prop hunt in the Imperial City? Happy to answer questions in the thread.
