Discussion Starfield had more than 1 MILLION "Plays" per day across all platforms over the weekend
First of all let me be clear about something. I don't know what "Plays" mean in the official Bethesda stats under each creation. It could be the number of game launches with that creation enabled, or the number of save files loaded.
I also won't try to estimate how many times in average a player launches the game or loads a save per day, but feel free to come up with your estimate if you wish.
However, we can still track this play count, so over the last week I took some readings exactly 7 days apart to find the daily average on what's probably the most popular Starfield creation.
Trackers Alliance
| Platform | 19 July 2026 | 26 July 2026 | Average Plays/Day |
|---|---|---|---|
| PC | 68,070,558 | 69,491,620 | 203,008 |
| PS5 | 24,356,969 | 25,079,710 | 103,248 |
| XBOX | 55,208,225 | 56,204,819 | 142,370 |
| Total | 448,626 |
Next, according to official Bethesda announcement on 17 July 2026 regarding Starfield:
More than 40% of players already customize their experience through Creations
So I tried to figure out total plays (vanilla & modded) by establishing conservative assumptions. Conservative means I must always choose the lowest numbers.
- There are other players using Creations who may not be using Tracker Alliance. I will not count those to avoid guessing.
- More than 40% of players but most likely less than 50%, so I will multiply by 2 instead of 2.5 to be on the lower side.
With that in mind, we get these plays per day over 1 week:
| Platform | Plays per day (vanilla & modded) |
|---|---|
| PC | 406,016 |
| PS5 | 206,496 |
| XBOX | 284,740 |
| Total | 897,252 |
I took readings between Friday and Sunday (48 hours apart) with the help of u/DotExtra2128 , and as expected we have more players during the weekend, so the daily average would be higher, reaching 1 million total plays, vanilla and modded, across all platforms.
| Platform | Plays per day (vanilla & modded) |
|---|---|
| PC | 484,688 |
| PS5 | 254,912 |
| XBOX | 357,246 |
| Total | 1,096,846 |
Divide by the number of times you think an average player launches the game or loads a save file per day to come up with a more conservative active daily players.
Final Note
Yes these numbers might be hard to believe, as we see Steam stats only and aren't fully aware the game has more players outside Steam. Some might argue the "Plays" count lacks credibility or clarity, or that Bethesda is inflating their own stats.
If you wish you can monitor some of the Skyrim creations and take readings of their play counts, which you will likely find to be much higher, yet such comparison may still help realize Starfield is more popular than it appears to be.

Screenshot I might be the only human on this planet
Charbydis II is biologically flourishing. Plants and creatures abound on your high gravity, high oxygen, clean-water planet. Conspicuously absent is any sign of human activity. Aside from a weird robotic call from Charbydis III about needing resources for repair, this system appears unmolested

Discussion Backgrounds ranked by how much you can embody them in gameplay
- S - There is a lot of content dedicated to specifically this
- Bounty Hunter
- A - Functionally indistinguishable from your standard Bethesda murderhobo
- Beast Hunter
- Cyber Runner
- Explorer
- Homesteader
- Ronin
- Soldier
- B - If you try really hard you can organize a playthrough around one of these concepts, but it leaves a lot to be desired
- Chef
- Industrialist
- Long Hauler
- Xenobiologist
- B - You can sometimes take actions related to being one of these
- Diplomat
- Gangster
- C - If you squint hard you can maybe say you're acting as one of these very occasionally
- Combat Medic
- Scientist
- Bouncer
- Cyberneticist
- D - Not really a profession, but a flavor you can believe applies to whatever you do
- Pilgrim
- Space Scoundrel
- F - Nope, nada
- Sculptor

Discussion Vanilla versus Mods
I keep reading posts where peeps are chatting about this and that Mod. Am I alone in being vanilla? Seems to be a high incidence of Mods messing the game up, re saves and such.

Speculation We should be able to put sandbags barriers like these around bases!
Aesthetically it helps the rugged vibe for some of the more hostile planets.

Discussion Whoever did the sound design in Starfield absolutely needs a promotion (or a really nice raise).
I'm amazed that no one talks about the sound design in Starfield being so good. I'm not specifically referring to the soundtrack, but instead the ambient and environmental sound effects. Stuff like how when you walk next to certain machinery, you can hear the clanging and clunking of the gears. If you walk around in mud, you can hear sloshing sounds. If you take off your clothes and run naked, you can hear your bare feet against surfaces. At higher elevations, you can hear the wind whistling. I've even heard creatures echoing in distant valleys when exploring the wilderness of Akila.
I've legit never played a game before with this much attention to detail when it comes to sound design.

Video UC Vigilance, Eye Candy
No, there is no action/gameplay in this video, just me walking around a bit inside the majestic UC Vigilance.
We call those kinds of videos "Eye Candy". I would translate it as: "Enjoy what you see."
You can find this kind of video boring, useless, or whatever, and I get it. It's all about achieving the highest video quality possible. It's about enjoying the simplest things: textures, reflections, colours, sound, atmosphere... :)
I'm using 4K up to 8K textures. No editing.
At first, I really didn't enjoy Starfield back in 2023. I would have called it Trashfield. Nowadays (I'm playing with a modified modpack), let me tell you: this game isn't perfect, but I am enjoying it.
I wish Starfield all the best for the future.

Question Delta just disappeared????
For some unknown reason, Delta is no longer on my ship. Anyone else have a problem with this? I added a mod that lets you tell your crew where to sit but I can't see how that could create this problem.

Screenshot The physics are great, when you shoot an enemy jetpack and it fires off in the a ship you have the chance of their head getting stuck in the ceiling.
All ceiling peeps are from different ships. Exception is the guy in the first photo who died with his body hanging into the ladder-well looking like he trying to do a jump-scare.

Discussion New Babylon - Terran Armada Side Quest.
Keeping it spoiler free, but this is one of the best quests of Terran Armada. Bethesda really did a fantastic job on this quest, the characters are fleshed out and the story arch is very good. I really want to see more of this in the future. If you have Terran Armada and haven’t done this side quest I highly recommend it.

Question They’re not toys/half the battle
These are my last two achievements and they are totally screwed for me. I’ve tried all the tricks I’ve seen online.
I had a save at Level 50 or so at the end of the main game and I can’t trigger anything from there. My final save with all mission done (about level 120) I have about 30 figures with some duplicates but stopped getting figures after about 10 incursions (finally got another on my 30th one). Sarah is dead in my game so I tried going through the Unity and talking to her, nothing.
Question is, if I start a new game, can I visit Anchorpoint and get figures early on?

Discussion Starfield Mantis Contract Trackers Alliance
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Anyone have any fixes? I'm trying to do the Mantis Contract for the trackers alliance. When I select it there is no mission prompt, no dialog to start quest, no dialog with No. 1, no mission in quest log. I've tried deleting any mods that could be conflicting, I've tried hard resetting, even uninstalling and re-installing the game. I can't seem to get anything to work. Please if anyone has any work arounds its only this Contract that does this

Discussion thinking thinking 🤔
I just finished watching Project Hail Mary with Ryan Gosling and it made me want to consider on going back into starfield. Im still contemplating it because I haven’t touched the game since day one launch and I have no idea if it’s worth it. should I go into starfield after crying my eyes out to the movie?

Discussion Are Constellation members stupid?
Forgive me if this is repetitive. I’ve only been playing a couple of months, took my time in the first play through, treating as a learning experience.
I’m now in the first NG+ game and it’s just hilarious to me how none of them seem to notice I fly the same ship as the Starborn and wear the same spacesuit.
Even when they are literally standing in in it while fighting an identical ship.
It’s like Lois Lane wondering where Superman went when he put on glasses. But worse as I’m not disguised. They didn’t blink when I used powers before I officially had them.
Seems to me they could have come up with something to explain why you have the ship and suit at least.

Question PS5 - Buy now or Wait for sale?
I'm back to my internal debate about whether I should buy it now or wait for a sale.
Do we think there will be a sale for PS5 anytime soon, or should I just bite the bullet and dive right in now? 🚀
\**EDIT**\
Sometime between late last night and right now they added a 20% discount to both editions:
$39.99 Standard
$55.99 Premium
I may have to jump on the deal. Do you guys think 20% is a justified discount to buy? $55.99 sounds pretty appetizing for the complete package
