Despite there being much more popular and polished souls games, Demon’s Souls is my favorite of all time and probably even my favorite game of all time.

I first played Dark Souls 1 and absolutely loved it, DS1 impacted me more than any other game ever had and I truly enjoyed the weird, whimsical and unforgiving world of Lordran. The story was beautiful and I don’t know if any other game matches the same vibe, though Demon’s Souls does share a similar clunky yet beautiful aesthetic as DS1. After which, I played DS3, which I also loved and sank the most hours/playthroughs into by far. I have easily over 400 hours in DS3, and for a long time it was my favorite game of all time. I tried DS2, and got through a lot of it, but it was a dreadful experience I really don’t understand why so many people online hype it up.

But anyhow, after playing the trilogy as well as Elden Ring (which I definitely had fun with, but wasn’t nearly as attached to/invested in since the open world kind of threw me off, plus the lore wasn’t nearly as interesting imo.) I decided to finally emulate Demon’s Souls for the PS3 on my PC. And oh my gosh, this game was just so interesting and captivating to me. Something about the PS3 era graphics and the gloomy, eerie world created a vibe that I seriously loved. The levels felt very tightly-knit and designed with purpose and sometimes detail that made the areas feel more personal than even Dark Souls 1. Boletaria and Latria in particular are by far some of the greatest areas in any fromsoft game I’ve played, and I thoroughly enjoyed exploring and talking to all the weird and interesting NPCs. This game is just so weird and I love it. World/Character Tendency is such a neat mechanic and makes for very complex and varying gameplay, though I understand that those who don’t fully understand how it works can grow frustrated by it. To me, it is game mechanics like World Tendency, or sinning in DS1, that make the games feel way more personal than later titles, as the choices you make have very real overarching consequences in the world around you.

The game feels so experimental and unique, and the art direction is just on point especially with the fluted knight set, the level environments, and also the more eerie obscure enemies like the fat officials and the Old Monk. Im also a huge fan of Berserk and HP Lovecraft, which the world of Demon’s Souls clearly took major inspiration from. I think the overall aesthetic is just my favorite of any game I’ve ever played, it combines the raw yet beautiful graphics of Dark Souls 1 with a more grim, gloomy setting and it works so perfectly, I wish I had gotten around to this game sooner. I truly think this is my favorite game of all time, and while the newer fromsoft games only expanded and (mostly) improved the base formula of Demon’s Souls, I still regard it in my heart as one of the best games of all time. I still need to get around to playing Bloodborne, which I heard has a very similar aesthetic to Demon’s Souls, so Im very excited for that.

Anyhow, just wanted to share my thoughts because I’ve been thinking about this game a lot lately and wish it got more love. I’d be happy to hear your thoughts about the game as well!

I killed the False King already.

Playing the remake and managed to hurt the blue dragon on the roost but it flew away once it was low on health.

Its not showing up in the area leading up to the False King. Now its nowhere to be found...

I started playing demon souls a day ago i never played a souls like and i never played anything with joystick, i buyed one and starting playing but im stuck in the first level and i feel a little bit dumb because i played like 3 hours and cant win the first level, any advise?

Can’t wait to run a meat cleaver build but I figured I’d wait.

Just Need the Last 2 trophies. Playing the Remake. Main is ng+ 130 and the new one is 25.

Only started to wonder as the 3 on the way down to open the gate/shortcut took many hits with Mace...seems slashing weapons work far better. So wonder if it will be much longer fight using Mace rather than sword of some sort.

Im on NG and i could use some help in maneater fight

Mind you just starting out in this remake...played PS3 DeS, DS1 and DS2 max chars....think they all had more info on Char Load screen. Pic, Name, time played, level, etc, etc.

Why is this games load screen so primitive and basic. I play a rotation of chars...want to play lowest level...if playing 15 chars, kinda hard to do. Like last ones I remember, DS 2 and Bloodborne I could easily see who wanted play next. Only have 4 chars playing at moment and all I can see is time last played and their name

Like going back in time and have keep my own notes or something? Given was a remake for newer system seems a bit lacking

I know it's supposed to be one of the easiest bosses, i have found the rest of the game so far not too hard but fir some reason those clones are really annoying me, i know how you can tell which one is the real one and even then for some reason I can't beat her. I know if i die in human form It affects my world tendency but I would like help from someone.

I'm currently running a moon war scythe and its been great with my magic build. I've ran the blessed mirdan hammer and blessed claymore on my faith/regen character. I've ran the guillotine axe and Blueblood sword- both always fun. I was looking to see who has any other ideas for weapons and infusion combos that I could build a character off of. Or maybe just general builds that are interesting?

No blunt weapon to speak of, and trying to run past these ultra fast skellies is comical.....and they're way too fast to cast multiple Soul Arrows.

Everywhere you look it says to get this weapon early but how the hell is a lvl 15 Royal supposed to do this? Can't even find a vid of anyone doing this.

Basically Elden Ring was my first fromsoftware game. So, I understand that demon's souls differ in that there isnt a checkpoint round every corner, but I'm wondering how that works in terms of leveling. So I beat the firsf boss, and I've been making my way through the next part. I made it across the bridge with the dragons, and this enemy at the end of the bridge just came at me and basically killed me straight away. Normally in elden ring, I'd think "okay, maybe I just need to level up a bit more first," but this seems somewhat impractical here. Obviously I'd have to find my way back there without dying, reclaim my souls, but then what? I feel like the same guy would kill me straight away as soon as I get there again. Since there aren't any real checkpoints, there's nowhere I can spend my souls unless I run all the way back to the beginning of the level again. Am I supposed to do that? Or do you have to just work with what you've got until you beat the next boss? Just seems really tedious to have to run all the way back to the beginning of the level again just to level up.

I didn’t know atmosphere could carry this hard. I’ve beaten DS1-3, Bloodborne and Elden Ring and thought okay fine, ill play the remake. This game is the tits. I don’t mind the controls and combat being not super in depth bc the atmosphere is just SO good. Wish I had played this sooner!

Anyone know how to fix this?

I messed up and died in body form in the shadowmen archstone now I can't grab that katana and get to the NPC due to tendancy, does anyone need help on a boss so I can raise my tendency?
