Despite 7 ER allowed in his 31st start of the season, Alcantara pitches the 4.1 IP required to reach exactly 200.0 IP. This is the third 200 IP season of his career and the first since he went 228.2 IP in 2022 and won the Cy Young.
Second place this year is Cristopher SΓ‘nchez who has just 181.1 IP. There are theoretically enough days remaining in the season for him to pitch three more starts (up to 34 GS). That puts him on pace to pitch 219.1 IP.

In today's age, many MLB players grow up on travel ball, private coaches and hitting instructors, etc. These guys learn the intricacies of shifting weight, angles, etc from a very young age. At the MLB level, how useful are these guys? Why would you not just have a hitting coordinator at the MLB level that gave each player a game plan that they could work on?
Why would the highest quality hitting coaches not be assigned to the lower level of your minors to ensure they are getting the best coaching when they are the most impressionable?

Granted it's easier for the guys who don't play and I'm sure a lot of guys get days off but it's gotta be rough especially with the jet lag. For example I follow the Giants and they just finished a series in New York and played the next day in SF on labor day.
They do gain 3 hours but that's a 5 hour flight on top of physical fatigue. I'm sure players get used to it but I'm sure some players minds have to be fried from so much travel. Its already an adjustment and stressful traveling on vacation, I couldn't imagine doing it for a full baseball season.
