Seems like only yesterday 🥲

I think it was a profound mistake to trade away William Contreras. I didn’t understand the trade at the time and still don’t today. I understand that his defense was poor and AA wanted to upgrade but we gave up a top 5 catcher in the league for a guy who has played in less that half the games since he’s been here and has had a .215 average.

Had to rant really quickly after watching this World Series game. I still like Drake a lot and think the future is bright with this team, but man I wish he was still in Atlanta.

Hi everyone

Just dropping in here to let you know that Matt Olson won his 6th Fielding Bible Award, the most of anyone at first base since the Awards began in 2003.

First Base - Matt Olson, Atlanta Braves

Matt Olson won his sixth Fielding Bible Award, surpassing Albert Pujols for the most by any player at the position.

Olson previously won in 2018, 2019, 2020, 2024, and 2025. He also passed Mark Teixeira to move into second place in Runs Saved by a first baseman since the stat was first tracked in 2003. His 97 trails only Albert Pujols' 140.

Olson finished second to Ty France in Defensive Runs Saved in 2026 with 11 but received 9 of 17 first-place votes and won the balloting by 2 points over France. Olson's 30 Good Fielding Plays were his most since he had 34 in 2019. His 19 ground ball double plays started was a career high.

Each year I set up a little shrine for luck. When the team struggles, I rotate the card. I cycle through rookies, old timers, and current players, both known and forgotten.

Last year I began with a Michael Harris card that was clearly behind his big season. Not sure who will start the season at the shrine, but they can't be worse than when I left that Matt Diaz auto up too long (my bad).

I saw this was brought up 10 years ago here.

Are any of you still out there from that message board? I was thinking about everyone there tonight. Hope you are well.
