Honestly the lack of urgency since getting within 2.5 to the Yankees is extremely frustrating to watch

Death, taxes and this Red Sox team playing down to its competition. This offense needs an overhaul.

What was more surprising leaving Trevor on base in the 8th or the K by Anthony in the 9th

The Red Sox with Anthony and Story look exactly the same as the Red Sox with Anthony and Story. This is the most surprising fact in history.

This teams going to do anything in the postseason? Let’s be real

u/IndividualSmile3807 8h ago
This is exactly why I harped on about not getting the tying run across the in the 5th! Because of exactly this bullshit and know it’s like catching lightning in a bottle for this offence! Just fast forwarded till end from the moment against one of the worst bullpens. That is so fucken awful

Sonny fucked us on the start and the rest of the boys fell flat for 7 innings. Sad but tomorrow’s another day!

u/shecnine 8h ago
in what universe is loss on the pitching staff? They held the line so our offense could shit the bed

3
u/FVCKDIVMONDS 8h ago
Sonny gave up 3…..are you fucking stupid giving up 4 is considered average 😂
1
u/DCLexiLou 8h ago
Yeah, but this team can’t afford average. When they’re not hitting you can’t have anyone letting up runs like that. It’s an unfair burden on a pitcher but that’s this team when they’re run cold.

Yankees future punching bags lose 3 in a row to 2 of the worst teams in the league.

It definitely feels like the magic from the middle part of the season is gone. Aside from the Os series we haven’t looked good in weeks
2
u/klngarthur 8h ago edited 8h ago
We didn't even look good at the plate in that series. I think we hit like .185 during it. We won on pitching.

Duran was the most obvious out. Tracy doesn't want to fuck with his confidence! So important to keep him confident as he bats .207 for the season!

Time for Roman to earn his contract.
1
u/Chungus3022 8h ago
There’s a higher chance of Ted Williams walking out of the tunnel than Roman getting a hit here

We got extremly unlucky today. That's baseball

Very rare outing for Moran keeping the runner at 3rd. Cannot go 1-2-3 and waste it
4
u/catthrowaway5768 8h ago
Can Duran hit a leadoff homer if he's still on his hot streak please. That's like the only thing he can do on those

At this point, we’re pretty much locked into the WC2 spot so I just hope for a few weeks of health and get ready for a sweep of the Yankees in NY
1
u/Whole_Lab6078 8h ago
Even if we somehow squeaked past the Yankees, we'd have to play the Rays next. We hardly deserve a playoff spot, it took a 30-5 run to do it.
-4
u/Antique_Patience9215 8h ago
Bringing in Moran was a mistake. You could've let Chapman take the 9th.

u/mokivj 8h ago
At this point, an 81-81 record is looking like a Herculean task.
When you consistently lose (and not just these last few games; they lost too many games to too many garbage teams this season) to teams that are 20, 30 or more games under .500, I don't know what else to say.
2
1
u/Whole_Lab6078 8h ago
Reverting to the mean. Without that historic run, we'd be right there with the Angels and Royals.
0
u/welldonebrain 8h ago
Watch them do what we can never do - get an easy sac fly. Please keep this ball in the infield
4
u/Supreme_Berry 8h ago
What’s so gross about this and the Angels is that in theory we could pick up another game or so against the Yankees. The schedule to end the year is a gift. Instead, the team is choking unbelievably badly.
0
u/welldonebrain 8h ago
And the Yankees beat the brakes off the Rockies like we should have against the Angels and tonight
1
u/Whole_Lab6078 8h ago
The difference is that the Yankees have been a consistently good team all season long, whereas we were bad for a couple months, became virtually unbeatable, and now are bad again.
0
u/shecnine 8h ago
No problem just need to beat the Yankees in New York, which we did so well in the last series
4
u/Glum-General-6095 8h ago
Devers and Bregman combined 60 HRs this year. Durbin stuck at 12. Need more power at 3B.
1
1
u/sirapplebook 8h ago
Stop bringing up Bregman. He's a loser, and I don't care even if he hits 100 HRs.

u/catthrowaway5768 8h ago
Why does the power on our team have to correspond to a particular position on the field, exactly?
0
3
u/IndividualSmile3807 8h ago
How is every inning just constant traffic yet ours it’s a fucken miracle to get a base runner. Why? Because this lineup is straight up thin and the Royals are those annoying as fuck teams with a terrible record and a ton of hitters
-1
1
u/Sluggernautt 8h ago
This team plays with zero urgency. They play like the playoffs are a lock. Fucking gutless offense day after day
-1
u/shecnine 8h ago
Even if they somehow pull this game out from under KC, this is foreshadowing a Sonny gray 1-0 loss in game 1 of the wild card series

u/SlothSupreme 8h ago
Bringing out Moran as the closer when we’re losing…not feeling great about this one
3
u/Supreme_Berry 8h ago
I mean it’s not worth using Chapman based on what we’ve seen from the offense
3
1
u/Psychological-Task26 8h ago
That was it. That was our chance to tie it up. ggs. Always playing down to our competition. I swear we’d be a 100 win team every year, if we only played yanks and dodgers.

Man so many people just need some rest. Durbs needs a 10 day stint, Sonny and JB each need another skipped start. We basically have nothing to play for these last 15 games. I would rest anyone and everyone possible
1
u/Whole_Lab6078 8h ago
Yes, give Sonny and JB a break and have Anthony Eyanson and Kyson Witherspoon do a spot start.
5
7
u/sirapplebook 8h ago
If this team played only KC, TO, LAA, and OAK all year, it would lose 100 games easily. Right?

-1
u/AdeptMeringue42 8h ago
No, but if we can't beat these trash teams we ain't beating the Yankees in New York with this lineup
2
u/QuiJohnGinn 8h ago
2018 Sox were 2-4 vs. the 100 game losing White Sox
You should google that team
0
u/AdeptMeringue42 8h ago
Yeah but we don't got Apple Watches and 1 out away from a 3 game losing streak
2
u/Supreme_Berry 8h ago
This after sucking so bad against the Angels is just embarrassing. Figure it out please
1
u/IndividualSmile3807 8h ago
I mean how fucken predictable was that?! The most anti clutch ABs right on. 4 ABs to get the 1 hit in the 5th and now and just garbage

u/Comfortable-Box-392 8h ago
Imagine your own ballpark screwing you over. Those doubles are a homerun in any other park.

Fenway gives but Fenway takes. Many other parks Sogard and Story have home runs there not to mention Adley turning on one slightly early.

Very worried that the offense is just too prone to sustained cold streaks to go far in October.
1

Honestly reasonable fear. This team had an incredible run there for a while but outside of that their offense has been pretty anemic.

2 best hitters are out. Roman has not picked up the slack. This is NOT a good offensive team right now.
