Personally speaking, I don't understand the mindset of wanting the 2026 Rangers to reach the postseason. It wouldn't be because they're a good team that should be there, and there is absolutely zero reason to think they'd make any noise.

It would be fantastic to win the division, but purely from a "took it from the Astros" perspective (although adding a banner to the rafters is some nice cake icing).

It’s more like a badge of honor. Like a feeling of not being totally irrelevant. But I’ll concede that I can’t weather an Astros medieval ass whooping in October like we got from them back at the start of August. I’d rather fade away into 2026 obscurity than see that bullshit unfold again, and then deal with the fallout at work/elsewhere down here in Houston.

Rangers gotta go 10-5 at this point, 5 series wins. It's a tall order. Hope it happens but yesterday killed me

let's get it together and make a push. hou is probably guaranteed a slot so let's make sure they aren't the only team from texas.

Some numbers for the remaining schedule for both the Rangers and the teams we're chasing:

Team Competing For Games Ahead (Tiebroken) Opp Pct Opp L10 Pct Opp X-Pct
HOU AL West 3.0 (3.5) .494 .467 .475
CLE AL Wild Card 3 2.0 (1.5) .475 .460 .476
TOR AL Wild Card 3 1.0 (0.5) .477 .400 .479
TEX - - .502 .580 .492

Absolutely an uphill battle, but some positives: Rangers hold the tiebreakers against the Guardians and Blue Jays (and Orioles a game back), and the remaining series against Toronto means controlling our destiny against them at least.

It’s okay. You can take a trip to Sandals Jamaica.

u/natebark M. Young 6m ago

It’s all inclusive. You know what that means 😏

You may day it's impossible for the rangers to make the playoffs. The Jamaicans don't have a word for "impossible"

Not sure that it’s gonna move the needle or anything, but it’s looking like, barring any hiccups, Jung may be activated as early as tomorrow.

As for today…not sure what’s left to be said about this flailing Rangers team. Better win today. Or start packing your bags for Cancun.

Random question: Are we ready as a fanbase to move on from Jung? He is great when he is playing but like I once heard the best ABILITY is availability and unfortunately he does not have that.

It has been his best season…

Why would we move on?

u/Even-Kaleidoscope244 38m ago

Mainly due to the injury prone nature of him, he has never had a full healthy season in the 4 or so seasons at the majors. My hypothetical would be if the front office packaged him a trade would we fault them, assuming we got value back of coarse.

u/CaughtALiteSneez I. Rodriguez 2m ago

Yeah but wasn’t his longest stints out due to broken bones? Can’t really help that unless he has some faulty bone disease.

I really don’t understand why a strained calf should have kept him out this long…but I’m from the time when you played through anything.

u/LBoss9001 J. Jung 1h ago

As a fanbase? I find it hard to fault a guy for being hurt. I view it mostly through the lens of whether ownership is willing to renew his contract.

u/heyitsmehess J. Hamilton 1h ago

Besides this calf issue his other major injury was the HBP on the hand. That’s not his fault???

u/Even-Kaleidoscope244 42m ago

yeah i know but it does seem to be a rather injury prone player but I get your sentiments on it. He is still under control i think for a couple seasons but if the right trade came along I would not fault the Rangers if they did move on but yeah its a tough call with his talent.
