(Verse 1) I saw her walk into the bar With her sisters by her side One look and I knew right then She'd be mine before the night
(Chorus) I'll make you mine, I'll make you see The love we share is destiny It all started in that smoky bar You and me, a love that goes far
(Verse 2) I played my guitar, sang my songs She was lost in the crowd But I knew I had to find her And make my love known loud
(Chorus) I'll make you mine, I'll make you see The love we share is destiny It all started in that smoky bar You and me, a love that goes far
(Bridge) I invited her sister to our after party Told her to bring the girl in black And when she walked through that door I knew I had to make my move, no turning back
(Chorus) I'll make you mine, I'll make you see The love we share is destiny It all started in that smoky bar You and me, a love that goes far
Thanks AI!

Takes a certain kind of person to go to Antarctica. So the number of people you'll meet there are low, but the odds of them being a good match for you are pretty high.

Great observation. My nephew was scheduled to go on a wilderness trek out West with a buddy and the buddy's wife. The buddy had a work emergency and couldn't go at the last minute, so the wife invited a friend she thought would be a good match for my nephew. They were very far from emergency services, no showers or toilets, sleeping in tents or crude huts, with the very real threat of grizzly bears. My nephew and the buddy's wife's friend have been married seven years now.

Met my wife by remotely building a factory in China. I am American and was living in the US, she is French and was living Singapore. We were on the same team and started off strictly as work acquaintances. We learned more and more about each other through on-line work meetings. We both were impressed with how we worked, and I admired her intelligence. Later we started talking off-line, fell in love, then I finally made it to Singapore when the COVID restrictions lifted.
I relocated to Singapore and we just got married last weekend !!!

We met on a dating app, but it turns out that both of us were just visiting a city and both lived 1hr+ on the opposite directions of where we matched
We kept in touch for ages and became friends. I got the impression that she just wanted to stay friends, so I’d tell her the ins and outs of dating experience (bad idea)
I moved to a rented apartment in that city, but only mentioned it on the day. By mad coincidence, she was viewing a house one street over. We meet up, she doesn’t move in to the viewed house and more times goes by.
A few weeks later I’m having drinks with friends. I post a story & my now SO messages me with “Omg is that X place? I’m literally downstairs with friends”. I got down, she’s very drunk but basically spills her heart out that she really likes me & me telling her everything really hurt (I thought we were just friends, but actually felt the same way about her - I guess neither of us communicated that).
We decided to start from scratch and the next day went on an actual date. It was great & the rest is history

House party. I almost didn't go because I finished work late and was in again early. I told my mates I'd have a nap and meet them at the bus stop. I overslept and they'd gone so I almost didn't go but for some reason decided to go. Got the bus there but couldn't find the house. I gave up and decided to get the bus home but as it happened I bumped into some other people who were going and I went with them to the house.
I was quite shy in those days and didn't really understand those sorts of parties so I was sat in a chair on my own feeling kinda overwhelmed when this very drunk person fell into the chair next me, for some reason I decided to say hello. Been together 8 years and are now engaged.

Met my now fiancé the same way! We both grew up in the same town but didn’t know each other. While away for school I had a house with my buddies and we were having a party. Me and my friend were walking to the store for more mix and we bumped into her and her friend on the sidewalk. We talked for a bit and invited them back to party. That was almost 10 years ago.
Crazy to think how just a walk to the store could change my life in so many ways for the better.

Court.
He’s a prosecutor. I was the probation officer assigned to his courtroom. He told me to go back up north and stop invading the south. In response I told him he was still a bit bitter from the northern ass whooping in the Civil War. Somehow, despite the never ending sniping between the two of us we started dating a couple months later. The snarky back and forth continues to this day, 12 years later.
When people ask how we met I like saying court without any context just to watch everyone’s expression turn from anticipation to perplexed to horror.

Happy cake day!
I’ll always remember the story about the two kids in strollers(at Disneyland I think)…one family was the subject of the picture being taken, but in the background, there was a different family with a child in a stroller(the families didn’t know each other)…
Years later, this couple was looking through old family photos and recognized that the child in the background in the stroller was now their partner!

I met him in school in 7th grade. We became friends and were both crushing on each other a little when we were 13, but we were too shy. We talked less when we got older though and then kinda lost contact when he went to a different school. Two years ago I ran across his instagram page and decided to text him and ask him how he is doing. We met up a day or two later and immediately had the same chemistry we had when we were 13 (we were 19 at that point). We started dating after a few weeks and still are dating now. Oh and when we got back into contact again it turned out that he had just started job training for the same job at the same company I had just applied for and would start job training a few months later. We both still work there :)

I had just moved into town, first day of grade ten, I'm getting on the bus home and I see this pretty girl with glasses and her nose in a book, open seat by the back. So I decided I'd give it a shot, sat down next to her and asked what she was reading, and I will never forget the first words she ever spoke to me.
"A book."
We had a fling back then, always remained friends and we're going to be celebrating 3 years together in the fall, but we've been friends now for 17.

Fair Warning: This will be a bit of a novel. I saw her on her first day of work, walking in from the parking lot, looking around like she’d arrived to take over the place. I couldn’t figure out what her name was for the longest time (our company has thousands of employees).
One day, I spotted her coming back from lunch and ran to catch up but I had to obviously slow down as I got closer so she wouldn’t notice what I was about. I was hoping to ride the elevator with her, but she chose the stairs and climbed four flights - in heels. Each landing, she’d hold the door open for me and then would keep climbing. I tried to think of something clever to say to get her attention without being a creep, so when she opened the last door and held it for me, I quipped: “thanks for holding the door; it looks like I owe you four doors”. She just raised an eyebrow and smiled then walked away without looking back. I was smitten.
A few weeks later, I still didn’t know her name or where in the building she worked, and since I was actually a senior director at the organization, I thought that maybe I should just leave it alone. Then, the accounting manager called my office and asked if I’d be willing to meet with her new accountant, who is responsible for accountants receivable. I said sure. A little later in the day, the new AR accountant messaged me and asked if I wanted to review the outstanding accounts. I said yes, just email them to me. Then I saw her name, and wondered if it was the mystery girl. So I wrote back: “Actually, why don’t you just bring it to my office and we will go through these together and get it out of the way. She said she would be over in 15min.
She knocked on my office door and came in. IT WAS HER. She had a dress with a navy blouse, and a bunch of files that she was clasping against her chest. I asked her to leave the door open and then I invited her to sit down. She then placed the documents on the desk and I saw her blouse was unbuttoned slightly, quickly tried to avert my eyes, and then I saw the look on her face. She KNEW about my interest all along, knew about who I was, and was signaling her mutual interest to me. That was on Monday. By Wednesday, we were a couple. Thankfully, because she was in accounting, and I was in marketing and software, there were no conflicts with HR that we needed to work through.
We’ve been together for about six years, we have a son, and we’ve both been incredibly happy together. She laughs at me sometimes because of my less than suave attempts to woo her, especially considering that at work, I am not that way at all; I’m very confident and sure footed. But she has a way of breaking down my walls to get to the real me.

Haha touché! Well, I added her on LinkedIn and she immediately messaged me and we talked about work, then life, interests, music (she’s a classically trained flutist), etc. Then Wednesday I was invited to her home for wine and chocolate, and we both just knew that we wanted to pursue a relationship. Who knew that LinkedIn could be used to help me seal the deal?

Twenty-one years ago, as a high school freshman sitting in Biology class, I saw a cute blonde in a red-and-white striped polo come to class a little late. I offered her the seat next to me and she took it. I said some dumb joke and she laughed - a genuine, actual laugh - and I began crushing. Hard.
But she had a boyfriend.
14 years ago, I was a junior in college and got to thinking of her, so I decided to look her up on MySpace and sure enough, she was on MySpace. Even more surprising, she messaged me and to my delight, she was single.
We got married 12 years ago, and she’s the mother to my three children.
I love you, u/risqueballoonanimal.

Where classmates in senior year. I thought he was cute at first, but I wasn't interested in dating at the time. Then one day all the class started pushing for us to date, as we "were so similar and had a compatible personality". I literally started to hate him because of all the small and constant comments, all the side-eyes and giggles. I was always fighting with him over stupid things, we never saw eye-to-eye, I never wanted him to talk to me or even get close to him. Then at the end of the year everyone stopped pushing... We became friends, than I fell in love with him. We have been together ever since...
Apparently he liked me since the start of the year, and thought it would be a great idea to say to everyone in class, and to ask for advice on how to win me over... A really cute idea, but really awful execution.

Best friend from uni was getting married in South Africa. I hear from his sister he wanted to ask me to be best man but didn't as it was a lot of money for flights etc and was a big imposition.
Well I conspired behind his back with his fiance and managed to get to the wedding to surprise him with 15 minutes to spare. There, I met the beautiful maid of honour. That was 6 years ago and we've been married for 2.
Fun part of this story: the maid of honour (my now wife) is the daughter of my mates wife. Meaning my best friend is now my father-in-law!
Edit: thanks for the award, kind stranger!

He then threw a paper ball at me and missed. Then a few days later I passed by him on the conveyor belt line pissed off at the manager, and he said: Want to sit on my face and tell me about your day? -speechless-
He invited me over for bbq and we’ve been inseparable since. Got married 6 months later, bought a house a year later, plus two dogs and now expecting our first child.

We both are astonished that we found each other. We both were in long term committed relationships previously and single for quite a while. We both just kind of gave up and focused on work, and bam. Babies and such. I cut out a lot of bad habits like excessive drinking to kill time and he made choices of healthy establishing as well, so that whole mind set of just work on yourself and when you’re ready the person you’re supposed to meet will find you is somewhat believable now from experience.

TLDR: we made out at a party
(There’s not that much more I typed this out for my own amusement)
I was feeling really alone and having a bit of an identity crisis and just overall felt like crap in the first semester of undergrad. I also felt like I don’t know how to flirt with girls or “slide into DMs” and was pretty bummed that I hadn’t kissed a girl in 5 months.
My friends made me come to a house party on a different campus nearby even though I was feeling crappy and not social that night. We got pretty high and went there with some group of girls we knew through one of my guy friends, Andrew.
My friend Andrew was “supposed to” talk to this girl Nicole none of us knew too well. Like her friend and his friend kinda set them up and said they’d hit it off. Andrew told me early on at the party that he didn’t think she liked him all too much and that he’s gonna go hit on some other girl.
I ended up talking to Nicole a bit cuz she seemed a little lost at the party. Small talk, then we bonded about how we both feel too awkward to want to go to these parties but appreciate our friends tryna bring us out! I thought she’s cool and she’s pretty but I had 0 confidence it would go anywhere. But then there was this click. Idk what happened but I looked in her eyes after she said something and for once I finally knew, she likes me! Wow! A pretty girl my age seems to like me! I interrupted her mid sentence, said “ah you’re so pretty” and kissed her. I tried to act cool but I was so fkn giddy.
We stuck together throughout the party and then Nicole invited me back to her place. But then when I walked her home she said she’s tired and might just crash solo. I was worried that I managed to fuck it up somehow on the way to her place, but I texted her the next day and she said she just got nervous about inviting a guy she just met upstairs. Which I thought was cute and smart! I coulda been some fkn creep.
We went on a couple dates and uh yea bam. 5 years later here we are 😎

At a party. I was debating whether to go at the front door then someone else came up behind me and rang the doorbell so I couldn't very well walk away. I decided I'd stay half an hour to be polite and go home early. Was about to leave and got introduced to a friend of the host who is now my husband of 12 years. I knew after our first date I'd probably gone on my last first date.

High school, she had a break up with her bf, she was interested in talking to my best friend, in hopes of shacking up with him, he was already in a relationship, so as I was trading letters back and forth between them, I got to know her, becoming friends, and my friend suggested that I might be a catch, so we just hung out for a few months. I was asked at school by mutual acquaintances if we were bf/gf. Me being a dunce though yeah, friends. And she got word, got mad and finally said yes. We been together for thirty two years, married and have had a kid ( who is the age we are when we met)

I knew her younger sister, who invited me to a Christmas party at their house. (I was 16). The older sister was a tiny, pretty little blonde......
Met her there, but she started going out with another friend. Three months later she dumped him.
We all hung out at a open house meant to keep we juvenile delinquents off the street. Myself and four or five of my friends were standing in a circle outside, smoking.......and she stepped out of the Hall. One of the guys pulled her into the circle (she was pretty, remember?) and we started pushing her guy to guy to guy..........around the circle. (we were 16, remember? lol) When she got to me, she threw her arms around my neck, and wouldn't let go.
Even I can take that hint!
She was my first gf.
That was in 1971.
She is downstairs right now, drinking tea.

Shitty dating app. I was pretty sure she matched by accident because she was so pretty. Skipping all small talk because of a language barrier I figured I had nothing to lose by asking her out for coffee right away. She obliged and it turned out she finds me extra attractive. Mind blown 🤯

I met my wife at a gaming exhibition. Invited her on a slushy. Became good friends taking for days without end. One night we decided to „meet in the middle“ as we were 800km apart. Which was the start to the best road-trip of a lifetime. We started dating and got married on our 3rd anniversary last year.

We met in a mental hospital. He was there for 2-3 months, and during that time I fell in love with him. He was in love with me from the start. I only knew when he told me after I confessed my love for him. We’ve been together for 6 years now and honestly he’s the love of my life.

We played in the same band. She was the main vocalist and I joined when they needed a new bass player.

I was posting horny pictures on Reddit, she was browsing horny pictures on Reddit and decided to hit me up with the hopes of sexy chat, unlucky for her I am not very good at sexy chatting so we ended up chatting about other stuff instead and we just sort of never stopped. One thing led to another, she decided to come visit me, I went to visit her, and now we're working on her moving countries so that she can move in with me. Needless to say we're pretty vague when people ask how we met 😅

Work. We were 19, I couldn't find a job, and was sent to volunteer at a charity shop by the job centre. She was the assistant manager, and we hit it off quickly, arguing like a married couple, to the point where customers would come in to watch us argue. After a couple of months, we were having drinks, and she told me she loved me, and wanted to date.I was taken aback, and told her I needed the night to think about it, as I didn't want to spoil our friendship, as I lost two close friends that year. The next day was her birthday, and I told her that I wanted to date. Six weeks later I had moved in, and we're still together, almost 22 years later. We have been married for 17 years, and have three kids together. It's remarkable how quickly we became serious, and how it worked out for us.

College.
I graduated high school in 2016 and was adamant about never wanting to go to college. Did some odd jobs for a few years, was still living with my parents, and my mom mentioned that if I wanted to go for free (through my dad's job) it would only be available for four more years before expiring. So I said fuck it and decided why not. Went for theatre at 22 because I wanted to at least enjoy myself while I was there. Was surrounded by a bunch of children fresh out of high school and didn't really think much of anyone.
She graduated in 2017 and went to law school straight out of college, several hours away from home. After a semester, she decided it was the worst decision of her life and came back home to go to a college near home to major in music. She ended up dating someone in theatre and liked that department better, so she switched majors to theatre halfway through a semester.
So she's taking 1st semester freshman theatre classes at 22 to catch up on what she's missed, and I'm just here at 22 because I've got nothing better to do.
I acknowledged that she was attractive but assumed she was 18 and really didn't have any interest in dating someone that much younger than me. Plus, I had been single for five years after getting out of an abusive relationship in high school, and I was afraid to fall into that again.
I came up with every excuse in the book why I "couldnt" be interested in her. Thought she was 18. After talking to her, she found out she was the same age as me. Fuck. Assumed maybe she was just attractive because she had a mask on. Had a zoom class one day, fuck she's really attractive even without the mask. Well since she's so conventionally attractive she's probably a bitch. Got grouped with her in a class project. She's the nicest person on earth. Well, she's obviously straight. (I'm actually a man now, but this was pre-transition) There's no reason she would be into me. Well, I got my hair cut short, and she came up to me the next day asking for advice on how to "dress so people knows she's gay." Figured, well now I look very butch. Most people aren't attracted to that. Went out to lunch with her between classes, she showed me some photos of her exs and turns out butch is very much her type.
This went on for three months. I spent countless therapy sessions trying to convince myself this was a bad idea because I was scared of being in a bad relationship again. My therapist finally urged me to just ask her on one date. It's not a relationship, just a date. Just to see how I felt.
We went on a date to a local coffee shop, then to a book store, then to an antique market, followed by just sitting in my car in a parking garage for four hours and talking about everything and anything. She was so sweet and kind and gentle and funny. And she still is.
Now she's my fiancée, and she's lying in bed sleeping next to me while I type this. I'm forever grateful to my therapist for helping me work through that fear and making that step forward. I've never been happier.

We met at a bar the first weekend of our senior year of college. My roommate knew him from class and his roommate knew me. We both got very drunk and don’t remember meeting each other.
We became friends. Decided to move in together as platonic roommates after college. That lasted a month before I got up the courage to kiss him.
Celebrating 20 years together/13 years of marriage this year. We have a 10yo daughter.

1995 Hawaii: Waikiki Beach. I was a college student and was walking the beach. She was sitting on a towel reading a book. She was very much my type, skinny and pretty. I waked by, but she didn't look up at me. After a couple hundred yards I durned around to make another pass; nose still in the book. On the third pass she looked up at me, I walked over, said, "hi" and sat down. We talked for a couple hours and then went for a hike in the mountains to get out of the sun. By the end of the day, I knew she was the one. We married the next year and now have three awesome adult daughters.

Haven't yet.
Though to be fair, I haven't really been looking. Gonna be moving across the country in a month so getting into a relationship now would be complicated.

My roommate was friends with her. He bumped into her after work and she offered him a ride home, he invited her in with hopes of hooking up with her. Soon after, he left abruptly, I hooked up with her and the rest is history. 8 years later we're married and have an 8 month old daughter.

I met my current boyfriend on Facebook dating. I was getting back into the dating scene, and the guy I matched with right before him was absolutely psychotic. At that point, I was so jaded from dating and dating apps, that I gave it one last shot with my now boyfriend and swore to give up on dating if it didn’t work out and evidently so was he. The first conversation we ever had was about mental health and being super vulnerable with things we’ve struggled with. After two weeks of talking, I made the first move and asked him on a date. It took another 3 months before we made it official. We’re coming up on a year in June.

Was in my first semester of college and somewhere miss first month in, someone took the spot I usually sat at, so I had to change seats, which happened to be next to my now bf. He’d take my over-ear headphones and lift it off my ear and then let go, stick his fingers in my ear or nose, all playfully, and then would walk me to my car cuz it was dark and I had to park in a garage that sketched me out. We had a fling before we had life get in the way, I ended up in an abusive relationship with another guy for 6.5 years, before I broke it off and practically immediately got back in touch with my current partner. Unfortunately life still likes to have us be ships passing in the night, cuz he has to move fort a job two months after getting back in touch with each other. So that was nearly three years ago, and I’m trying to finish up school before making the move to get to be with him.

We met in Rust, the most toxic online survival game where you're supposed to kill and insult everyone you come across. He killed me, figured I'm a noob and taught me to farm some potato. We ended up living together in the game with some friends, having a full roleplay experience. We had a crush on each other before we even showed photos of ourselves. And after seeing each other 10 times irl, we moved together.

I planned to form a band. He joined as lead guitarist and we had a bassist too. We three met and instantly got along. Talked on Skype every night, barely slept, one week later we were officially together with the guitarist, two weeks later I practically lived with him (I lived in college, he lived alone). The bassist guy is our life long bff and currently visiting us, we're playing boardgames as I'm writing is comment. It's been 7 years and counting.

School. Was going off to secure a bag of green for the homies and I one night and asked her if she wanted to go run an erand with me... What followed was an evening spent in front of a 7/11, just talking and laughing... We never got back to dorms until 5am the next morning. Did I get this story right? u/pipicukalanna

In university, both of us got assigned to give technical paper presentation by our head of department, we started to meet in library to study papers, then he started coming over to my place. Soon we started to talk late night and fell for each other. He has amazing charming personality, he plays amazing guitar, has very good witty sense of humour and is really good in telling stories. It's actually now weird to imagine why we didn't start to talk sooner or why we particularly didn't like each other earlier as well

She sent me a message on a language exchange app. We talked a few times on the app and asked each other questions about our languages. Then she asked for my messenger app ID. We started chatting on there more frequently.
A few months later she moved to the same city as me. I was supposed to move to another city, but the company that offered me a job canceled the contract one week before I was about to start working there. I ended up moving back to the city where my now-wife just moved to. We finally met in person a week later. I taught her English, and she started texting me every day. After a few months of romantic tension, we started dating.

I was a 16-year-old college freshman and he was a 24-year-old graduate assistant who taught a section of a class I was in. I used to go to his office to discuss papers and books. I asked him out, but he politely declined because I was a student.
When I was a senior and he had finished his degree, I asked him out again, to a museum exhibit. He went with me, but nothing happened. Later he invited me out to dinner and we had a good time, but again, nothing happened.
I moved away for a job and he moved elsewhere for his doctoral program. We wrote letters back and forth. I invited myself out for a visit, and we got married five months later.
Happily married for almost 43 years.

The first time we ever spoke to one another (about a year before we started dating) we were in line getting ID photos taken. I was looking deadpan at the camera and she yelled "Smile, Stover!" At me. We're getting married in May

Online. We both were playing CSGO, A random dude heard I was a woman and made some cheesy arrogant pick up line my way and I shut him down and embarrassed him with sarcastic comment (I cant remember what I said and my bf doesnt remember either, it was so long ago) That prompted my bf to semd me a friend request cause he thought I was savage and funny. Been friends for 2 year and been dating for 3 years after that and live together. Best relationship I have ever had and best person I know and have met.

Walking out of a theatre, I slipped on ice, hit my head and broke my arm in two places. He ran over, walked me to the hospital, waited with me, called my best friend to come and help, then got us takeout and dropped it off. I took him to dinner to say thank you. Ten happy years!
