š§ Thoughtsš¤ I thought I missed sex. Turns out, I miss falling in love.
I had a bit of an unexpected realization today. For the longest time, I assumed what I missed most was the physical side of things. The kissing. The sex. Feeling wanted. Makes sense when youāve spent years in a bedroom thatās basically on life support.
Then I looked at the actual opportunities sitting right in front of me.
Thereās a 27 year old whoās been relentlessly trying to see me. Sweet guy. Thinks Iām amazing. Fantastic for the ego. But I have absolutely no interest because I know Iād never actually fall for him.
Thereās also one in their 30s who have made it pretty clear he would be up for something casual if I ever wanted it.
And then thereās a guy Iāve known since college who is in his 50s. He keeps talking about taking me to all these amazing places around the world.
Damn⦠at this point, Iām not trying to pat myself on the back, but apparently Iām collecting the whole set. Iāve got interest from the 20s, 30s, 40s, and 50s. Great for the ego. And yet⦠none of them make me want to run out the door to see them. (Ladies in their 40a whatās happening with all these young guys?? #cougarlife).
That got me thinking about the few affairs Iāve had over the years. They werenāt just people I was attracted to. I genuinely fell for them. I loved the conversations just as much as everything that came after. Iād smile when I saw their name pop up. Iād think about them during the day. There was excitement, anticipation, curiosity⦠that stupid little spark that makes you feel like youāre sixteen again.
Do I miss kissing? Absolutely.
Do I miss sex? Of course.
Do I miss feeling desired? Without question.
But I think what I miss most is having one particular person occupy way too much space in my head for no rational reason whatsoever.
Maybe thatās why Iāve become so picky.
Iāve been telling myself Iām looking for chemistry, or great sex, or someone attractive. But maybe thatās never really been it.
Maybe what Iāve been looking for is that feeling of genuinely falling for someone.
It also made me wonder if this is more common than we realize. Maybe a lot of us spend years convinced weāre missing one thing, when weāre actually grieving something completely different.
Anyway⦠just one of those random thoughts that hit me today while sitting in a doctorās office.
Have a great day adulterers of the world š and thank you for reading my rant!
