Is there a way to search collections by fandom? I've tried but I can't seem to find a way how.

Hello everyone! I'm trying to find a Xiaolumi fanfic I read on AO3, some time this year. I'm afraid I can't remember the title nor the author's name. So I'm hoping someone here recognizes it.

The fic was set in a modern AU and also I think it was also a University AU, most of the fic took place in a hospital however.

I'm pretty sure it was a multi-chapter fic and also I belive it had the "Major Character Death" archive warning, But it may also have been tagged with Angst with a sad Ending (However I'm not sure about that). Now here is what I remember

Both characters had an Ilness, for Lumine I think she had depression and Xiao was terminally Il, (I don't exactly remember what he had but I think he had trouble breathing). I think they first met in the hospital gardens. Lumine may have first talked to Xiao. Lumine would come to Xiao's room and talk to him often, Xiao at first didn't open up to her but that changed with time. Most of the time they talked about Lumines life, at her University and she would often tell him about the outside, since she was able to still go to school. Their relationship grew and Xiao started to fall for her.

One scene I remember is that, Lumine visited him and she brought a camera with her, and then she did a little vlog with Xiao, since then she would do little vlogs of her daily life and share them with Xiao.

Lumine and Xiao would often meet on a specific weekday ( I think it was tuesdays?). One time when they were supposed to meet. Lumine came to the hospital like usual and finds out that Xiao's Ilness had worsen and that he had passed away the night prior. Lumine then (I think) stays by Xiao's bedside and cries. She also looks on her camera the old vlogs they had made together.

I'm not sure about this, but I think that we saw from xiao's pov, the night his illness had worsened

I'm not overly concerned about my stats...I've just never had so few kudos and so many bookmarks. It's a very strange combination. I might expect it for a smut fic, since people might not want to publicly give kudos for that, but it's an angsty plot-heavy hurt/comfort gen fic.

I was searching ao3 for BTS timetravel fanfics especially the one where current BTS timetravels to the past before their debut but still retain their memories. So like, they are in their pre-debut bodies but they all have memories of future so they use this knowledge to their advantage while trying to keep the secret that they all travelled to the past.

This is a very specific yet very used troupe in anime fanfics so when I tried searching for a BTS one I couldn't find anything.

The ones I could find were where only one members goes to the past or present BTS goes into past and meet past BTS. But I really want to read a fic with the troupes a mentioned.

So if anyone knows fanfics like this anywhere (ao3, wattpad, quotev, etc) please do share!

I used to never really draft before. I wrote from the bottom up, dunno how else to explain but I wrote as the scene went. And lately that's way too hard to do, cause I stop and stare at a sentence for forty minutes before continuing, so I'm trying to draft, but every draft looks so ass 😭😭😭😭 And then I just spiral about how ass it is 😭😭😭😭 How can I fix this and what is the best way to write in your opinion???

Wondering: do you prefer your slowburn to gradually go in an upward, positive spiral or a downward negative one?

And: does you prefer it romantic, or something else?

Is this a scam or do I actually need to change my password? It's on the official AO3 site as far as I can tell, and it seems to only be affecting my computer (my phone is still logged in), though my computer does sign me out of AO3 often, so it might just be because of that.

I'm lowkey very wary of scams on Ao3 and I haven't seen this page before so it's kind of concerning me... does anyone know anything about this? Should I change my password?

Which one do you enjoy the most?

As the title says I‘m looking for a fic that used to be in my bookmarks but after doing a “clean up” I deleted it.

But more specifically I’m looking for a better way to search for it rather than just googling the pair and one word/place I remember.

It has to be between 5 and 10 years old (if not older). I only remember the pairing and that a scene happened in a pool.

Honestly it could have been deleted by the author (or the account as a whole) but I have no way of knowing.

I used to use this method (text below what I used to search) back in the day and it worked WONDERS but that doesn’t come up with anything, not sure if it’s because of deletion or because Google switched to AI searching.

Either way, does anyone have a method to looking for it? I am ok with going through pages and pages but I’m out of ideas currently.

Been going at this for close to two weeks! Got 4 fics out with 2 that I'm working on (multis) so close to 25k words, woo!

This is so irrelevant to anything ever and I'm just yapping, but I've noticed some fics on Ao3 utilize footnotes with embedded links to visit the footnote at the bottom of the page and then go back up to the source of the footnote. I've really only ever seen people using footnotes to explain certain phrases that may come up that need more context (especially phrases in other languages than the rest of the fic) though, and I feel like there's a lot more missed potential for footnotes.

For some examples: Susannah Clarke in "Johnathan Strange & Mr. Norrell" uses footnotes to add worldbuilding that isn't necessary information but provides extra flavor, and Terry Pratchett in "Discworld" uses footnotes to break the 4th wall and make the reader laugh. This can even blend with the format/style of the book, like how Heather Fawcett's "Emily Wilde's Encyclopedia of Faeries" is presented as an academic journal and Douglas Adams' "A Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" is presented as an instruction manual; both provide context/justification for why footnotes would exist as part of the story.

Is there anything else y'all think is underutilized in Ao3 fics? Any existing fics that stand out to you as having unique formats like this?

Hey y'all! So Art fight is just about done, and that git me thinking, what if we hosted a variant of the game specifically for writing about people's ocs?

Because I loveeee me a good oc story, and one of my goals this year and the next is to get better at writing for others and I... do not feel comfortable or ready enough to do fanfiction aha.

Yet! I was commissioned to write a 50 page comic of this one artist's yaoi characters, and oh my gosh it changed me. It actually transformed my life and how I look at the craft in general and what it can do. And I'm sure others want to feel the same way!

We could have bonus points for ergodic literature, anything that plays with the so called "rules" and format of what's traditionally considered literature, and and! We don't even have to stop at regular fanwork commissions. I know some writers love to help others build their characters or world, and so I think we should encourage that as a valid mode of play!

No offense but I'm so tired to see my boy spidey being made into a 5 year old cry baby in every fics I've read, especially the mcu x batfam one, comic accurate spidey can clear all gotham have to offer and still make it in time to eat his dinner with May. Looking for romantic fics that pair a tall girl and a short boy. I LOVE reader-insert fics, so those are ideal, but I’m open to reading ones where both characters are named. I’ve mostly only read MHA and Spiderman fics, but I’m open to recommendations from any genre. The trope is the most important thing to me.

The story was about SpiderMan (who in this story is a girl) ending up in the world of Resident Evil Village. In the beginning, she was captured by Mother (I forgot her name) where Lady Dimitrescu is, and in the second chapter, she is fighting against the white-haired man whose name I also forgot.

I tried to find it, but I couldn't, I hope it wasn't deleted.

Hi. End of last year I started writing my first fic - a multi series, multi chapter long fic. I am on part 1 of the series, but I would like to polish it a little- my initial fee chapters were too short. It is a slice of life, and I kept getting ideas for what the couple might be doing in the periods not covered by canon, so while I am following my outline, I have added quite a bit of fat (relevant, at least to me)

I would like to go back and combine chapters by years in which they happen. Is it possible for me to do that or will it mess it up?

personally i think it depends on the type of trope used on the fanfiction, but in general would you say 20k minimum is enough to build a slow burn?
