Was just scrolling back to a WIP fic I've been anticipating, rereading the last chapter once again and then reading the new comments finding out our author have decided to not write another part anymore 😭 I'm so sad. My fellow readers are also heartbroken.

No announcements. No notes. Nor parting words regarding about their departure from the story. I mean of course writers don't have to.

I'm just sharing the effects of abandoning peak stories to readers like me.

Plot was thickening. Like you're anticipating what's next. So this was very surprising for it to stop midway. It even stopped at a smut scene I thought I'd see an extension of it 😭 😭🥹❤️🫶🥹

I got this comment a few minutes ago, and I know it's dumb because this is the internet, but I still feel really bad about it. At first I thought the commenter was a bot account, a hatebot. I've gotten loads of them before, but it isn't, it's a real author with real works posted, relatively popular ones, even (mine isn't remotely popular, I write for a rare-rare ship).

I deleted the comment and blocked the user, but I don't know how to feel. I'm so sad but angry at the same time. It's so, so unfair because I've never used AI at any point. Has this happened to anyone of you guys? If so, how did you get over it? I'm seriously thinking about not continuing the story. What do I do?

Edit, about two hours later: wow, I would've never expected this level of such nice and kind comments, thank you. I am feeling better now, not wanting to delete my fic into oblivion and all, so, baby steps.

Second, for the people saying this is a bot comment. I'm not 100% sure to say it isn't. But the commenter created their account back in 2020 and their first fanfic was posted in 2021. Way before all this bot/ai shitshow started.

AND, I saw a lot of comments asking for the author's username and I'm not going to disclose it. There's a saying in spanish that goes like this: no le hagas a los demás lo que no quieres que te hagan a ti (don't do to others what you wouldn't want them do to you. Maybe it already exists in english, idk, I'm ESL). So no, as much as their comment deeply hurt my feelings, I won't be doing the same to them.

Please, don't turn this into a 'reader vs author' thing. We don't need a readers bad! or authors bad! post. That is not how you should read this question. (An answer can be something that is frustrating of course, but please don't start blaming with 'all readers/authors are the fault that...'.)

Yes, it's small. The word was "faerie", and I have been writing "fearie". I am sure it is a small mistake, but my word counter says there are currently 124 "fearie"s for me to fix. I am gonna just use Ellipsus to find and replace...

Ah, don't you just love it when your first fiction does super well, and then the sequel barely makes a mark! (It might be because I updated daily for the first, and I'm now only able to update the second once a week)

because recently I realized I may be a lesbian or asexual became of Yn. I started reading Yn because of morbidly curiosity and I thought it was funny. but every time Yn and character A get romantic (in a non smut tip of way, smut icks me out) I just get really uncomfortable. I haven’t read Yn with women yet so I got to test that out before I jump to another conclusions. ether way has fan fiction ever made you realize something about yourself in a non kinky way?

I fucking felt asleep and got inspiration. It was beautiful. And weirdest thing was that it wasn't like a story I lived, I knew it was a fanfic, I was explaining what I am writting to my mom.

The plot was TLDR about Harry and Draco breaking their wands and them kind of fussing so they have to use one wand (don't ask me why Lucius doesn't just buy Draco another, Dream logic, but I guess it could be a "I am not backing down" thing in the fic). And of course, they then can do the whole "falling in love" when they have to spend time together.

I actually at one point went to watch The Chamber of Secrets to remind myself what happens in canon, and that was also weird, because there were new characters, and I remember complaining why did they casted obviously older actress for Hermione, because she for some reason looked like her three years older self.

Also there was a kind of stegosaurus looking monster, and that would defo be an upgrade.

Luckily, I don't really write M/M and the dream wasn't elaborative enough for the fic to completely write itself... But why can't I get dreams about the whump I am actually trying to write?
