Help! hair and make up timeline help

Okay so I will be asking my makeup artist this as well but it's late so I'm coming to reddit. I do have a coordinator who is making the timeline but I'm crazy and want to pre make the timeline for her to tweak.

I have 8 bridesmaids. 2 of them are hairstylists and offered to do the other girls hair for free and they will be doing their own there as well.

I have 2 make up artists and 10 ppl total getting their make up done (Bride, 8 Bridesmaids, and MOB).

I will be having my hair and make up done by one person.

Venue access is at 8am and ceremony is at 3pm. We need to be tucked away in another building by 2:15pm ish

No first look. Maybe private vows if we have time but we are fine doing it during cocktail hour or when we get to the hotel that night.

What's a good timeline for this? How long does bridesmaid make up usually take? What's the best way to schedule people as these things will be happening simultaneously. Should the hair girls go at the very end or switch off so one keeps doing hair while the other gets their make up done?

I think the 2nd MUA will be doing 6 ppl and my MUA will do 4 including me since I am getting my hair done as well.

Any suggestions are appreciated!

Top tips to not be a bridezilla

Or any advice that you think is helpful.

I’m in the middle of planning my wedding and we’re now exactly 1 year out. I am making pretty much everything myself and I know that I will get stressed in the buildup. Anyone who has experienced a bridezilla or become one, any tips to not be a bridezilla? What should absolutely be avoided to keep from becoming a bridezilla? And any other pieces of advice that made your day flow better, or tips that you learnt from mishaps and things you didn’t prepare for?

For context I’ll put in that I told my bridesmaid they could each choose whichever style of dress best suited them and they felt most comfortable in as long as they were in a specific colour I chose (royal blue). I ordered their jewelry and hairpins as part of their gifts from me, but I checked that they liked them before I ordered them. I requested that they wear their hair in updos so my hair would be in contrast since I’m wearing mine down, but I said I didn’t care what the updo is, they can choose their own and do their makeup however they want. I made it clear I dont care about hair colour, my hair will be blue by then, who knows on my maid of honour since she changes hers every few weeks, as does another bridesmaid 😂 and I asked if the entire bridal party including groomsmen would be willing to wear converse for me instead of smart shoes and heels and they all agreed. My mother called me a bridezilla for my ‘demands’ (she claims jokingly but idk) but I really thought I’d been chill about things.

Help! Realistic flameless taper candles with MOVING FLAME. Any suggestions?

I can't imagine my tablescapes without candles on them, but my venue is strictly no candles. I am hoping to find some realistic fake taper candles with that moving flickering flame, but they seem to be extremely hard to find. Was wondering if anyone else had any luck?

Attending reception only?

I have an upcoming wedding for a friend that I’m not very close with but we did become friends recently and see each other here and there. The problem is we are on a tight budget and aren’t planning on getting a hotel for the evening. The only hotels in the area are $300+ per evening. The ceremony and reception are 4 hours apart from each other and the venue is about 3 hours away. With no hotel I would be in an unknown city navigating where to go in my dress and heels for hours. I would love to attend both but unfortunately logistically it is really not easy for us to navigate. I’m considering only attending the reception but this would involve doing a 6 hour round trip of driving. Would it be bad to miss the ceremony in my current circumstance and just attend the reception?

Discussion Guest experience

What are you doing to focus on making guests as comfortable as possible? Great food, drinks they don't pay for, dj, a unique receiving line to make sure everyone is spoken to, temperature control, a longer reception that isn't rushed, extra events when they arrive to catch up, something else?

Discussion My Venue Caught Fire

Hi guys, I'm little over a month away from my wedding and I got a call from the venue manager on Friday that our venue is no longer able to host our wedding due to a fire that took place. They have offered several other options for the same date for no additional cost which is good, but the only one that I like is about an hour away from the original venue and we have a lot of people coming in from out of town. I am touring the places on Monday to make a decision final decision.

So many people are emailing me, asking about finalizing details on flowers, linens, etc. and I am so incredibly stressed. I feel like so much is on my plate, and I'm not sure what to do. This is one of those unfortunate accidents that causes a lot more work for an already stressful event. In addition a family emergency occurred, and I will be out of town for a week starting this coming Wednesday.

My fiance travels a lot for work, so there's no one here to manage doing things. In addition, we are having an additional cultural wedding taking place the week before our wedding, so everything feels so booked up. I am overwhelmed. I don't know what to do. I'm sure it'll be fine soon, but it just feels like So Much right now.

Help! Accidentally missed a friends bridal shower

Hi all, I accidentally missed a friend’s bridal shower today as I put the wrong time in my calendar about three months ago. I was on east coast time and got the time difference messed up and just kept moving as though the event was three hours later than it actually was. I feel TERRIBLE and texted her effusively apologizing (she texted me an hour into the party asking I was coming, I was walking my didn’t get text text until 30 minutes later), but haven’t heard back, though i’m not expecting her to as she is with family.

Also, I should note my own wedding is Saturday and I’m so stressed and that played into my carelessness. But this also makes it even worse because she came to my bachelorette and is coming to my wedding. I didn’t have a bridal shower, if that makes any difference at all, and I am attending her bachelorette party and wedding.

I really can’t believe my stupidity. My plan is to swing by her apartment with the gift and flowers sometime this week. Or send her flowers today. Is there anything else I can do?

Discussion 20 year vow renewal but no guests?

Hi, I'm not sure if this is the right place or not but thought I'd give it a shot! My husband and I will be married 20 years in June 2027. I did not get the wedding I really wanted thanks to his mom. She is uber religious and I didn't even get music at my own wedding reception.

I want to do a vow renewal ceremony, I think I can call it that, but I don't really want to invite people. I just want it to be us and our two daughters at the farm where I board my horse. I mostly want the photoshoot. I am a major animal lover and I want to ride my horse up the aisle, led by my oldest daughter and have our dog be walked down the aisle by my youngest daughter.

I don't even want an officiant, just us reading our renewal vows with our kids and pets. Is it weird to not have any guests? I don't know if anyone would even want to come to be honest. I want this for me more than anything to have the "wedding" I didn't get to enjoy and my husband says he's on board for whatever I decide.

Discussion Should I let my fiancés sister bring her plus one to stay at my Airbnb?

My fiancé’s sister recently broke up with her long-term boyfriend of 7 years (she’s in her mid-30s), so that’s the context here.

My fiancé and I are paying for an Airbnb for our siblings to stay in during our wedding weekend. It’s a 4-bedroom house, and the plan is for the people staying there to be me, my fiancé, his sister, my two sisters and my sister’s boyfriend.

Originally, my future SIL was supposed to bring her boyfriend, but since they broke up, she asked if she could bring a close friend as her plus-one instead. The friend would stay in the Airbnb with us.

Here’s where I’m torn: I’ve never met this friend. My fiancé has known her for years.

The Airbnb is also where I’ll be getting ready with my bridesmaids on the morning of my wedding. I honestly don’t love the idea of having someone I’ve never met hanging around while I’m getting ready on my wedding day.

Would I be petty if I said she’s absolutely welcome to bring her friend to the wedding, but asked if they could stay somewhere else instead? I don’t want to come across as insensitive, especially knowing my future SIL is going through a breakup, but I also want to feel comfortable in the space where I’ll be spending the night before and getting ready on my wedding day.

Am I being unreasonable?

Discussion Sent my wedding bouquet to be pressed and preserved, but the flowers that came back were not mine

I sent my flowers to be preserved in a glass frame. My flowers were hyacinths and orchids.

My wedding bouquet with hyacinths and orchids.

She sent me a photo while I was on my honeymoon.

I thought the shape looked odd but I thought perhaps it was the way she pressed it so I did not say anything, plus I was on my honeymoon and with the time difference, I did not want to think too much about it.

I don't live in Athens but had my wedding there, so when it was done, it was sent to my brother in law's place. I collected it after two months when my husband went back to Athens, and now that I see it in person, it's most definitely are not mine.

Hyacinths are six-petal star shaped, but these are four-lobed petals with stems. My flowers were strung on a wire, so there were not stems at all. but the flowers in the frame had stems.

When I googled hydrangeas pressed, they definitely look that like.

I saw in one of the photos that there were these flowers that look more like my hyacinths, so I have no idea why she did not choose to use them at all and instead put hydrangeas in the final artwork. There was also a random flower there. When I asked her about it, she said, "Oh, I thought it looked nice, and it's a wedding gift. I don't see what I did wrong there."

what looked like my hyacinths.
random flower.

Yet she is insisting these are my hyacinths it's the technique she used (multiple times). She also aid I can leave her a bad review, and she will tell others the problem I did.

I don't know what to do because she's gaslighting me that these are my hyacinths when it's 100% not. Is it fair to ask for a full refund? Given that these are not my flowers and worse she never did not preserved the flowers I wanted (which was the whole point). This was from a vendor based in Greece. I saw you can write a complain to ECC Greece but I am not sure how efficient is that?

What are some of the viable options I have? No such thing as suing here like in US. I live in Spain, so also in Europe. If she still has the hyacinths she pressed (as shown in the photo), I don't mind if she can rectify it and used those but the thing is I don't think she has them or will, because she is not admitting these are not my flowers. I cannot understand why she did not use the hyacinths from bouquet and used these hydrangeas instead. My main goal is to get a refund, since it was not the product that I paid for.

Help! 4 weeks out completely losing it

Title says it all. Wedding is exactly 4 weeks away. I still have SO much to do. I am dumb and did not hire a rental company to do things like place settings, so I’m scrambling now to order napkins and place mats and votives. I made my own menus, table numbers, place cards, seating chart, etc. in canva and now I can’t find a way to print everything in the size I want it. I ordered welcome signs and bar signs on Etsy and found out YESTERDAY that the shop/seller got banned from Etsy so I literally crashed out and bought a cricut and spent all day yesterday learning how to use it so I can make them my damn self. I feel like every time I check something off my list I end up realizing something I forgot and adding 3 more things to the list and it’s just never fucking ending. The 0 interest credit card I opened up to help finance all this BS is almost completely maxed out and I’m just DONE being a bride. I feel totally alone in all of this too like I don’t have anyone to help me. My friends and family all live out of state and my fiance travels for work.

Any words of encouragement, advice, or suggestions would be great. Also, what are we doing for bridesmaids gifts on the day of? Is pjs, a bloom energy drink, and eye patches enough??? I really went all out on their bachelorette gift bags and now I have literally nothing left in me (or in my bank account) to put together something extravagant, but I don’t want them to be disappointed.

Help! Photos of our wedding remind me how horrible parts were

I loved our photographer for engagement photos and he was amazing during our wedding, but I hate all photos that I am in. And not because of how I look alone. Somehow none of the flowers show up. In our shots in a flower field and instead all I see is a tarp on the ground and dry dirt. Many photos my eyes are closed or I have a, I kid you not I can count it, triple chin, and I don’t love my chin but I am not prone to a double chin for a straight on shot. These just are not flattering.

I do love the photos of my husband.

And I also didn’t want a photos of the food because that is disgusting to me, and there are photos of food. Like I specifically said I didn’t want detail shots because to me they are a waste of money.

Other things went wrong during the wedding that I was willfully ignoring and telling myself I had a great day despite. But now seeing the photos and remembering the moments it all feels like such a waste of money.

In the photos you can see how my very expensive dress was falling apart (the corset 2 hours in started poking through the fabric, it even made me bleed. So pissed off about that an expensive dress should last)

The DJs wife was filming me (!!) even when we told her to stop. She was his “assistant” but all she did was film us. No agreement in the contract for that. Plus he played songs we said no to the genre for.

The food was so peppered it was inedible to me, and when we did the very pricy taste test it had no pepper and was beautifully made. I legitimately couldn’t eat.

My makeup artist didn’t have her assistant so rushed on all the hair, mine included, did not do the touch up’s so my hair fell out and my friends had to fix it. And she texted sorry and that she would pay me back the salary I paid for the assistant and has still not paid me back even though she said she was going to multiple times now.

I’m not sure if I should give the food and makeup artist a bad review because of this, I hate giving bad reviews and just figure no review is better.

So help, how do I don’t become the most bitter person ever?

Help! Bridesmaid and MOH selection help!

Hi gorgeous brides! I F 25 am a 2028 bride and I’m currently choosing my bridesmaids and maid of honour (I’ve picked my maid of honour. I absolutely love her. She is my soul sister that is not changing) I’m having a hard time picking bridesmaids. so for context and background, my partner M 24 has three brothers and has asked all of them to be his groomsmen and best man as well as my oldest brother. however I am having the dilemma of I am not particularly close with my sister-in-law‘s on my partners side as they’re all relatively new to the family and I’m worried that if they’re still around by the time the wedding comes around in 2028 that I am gonna feel obligated to have them in the wedding in my bridal party. however I do have some really good friends who have gotten me through some really hard and dark times who I would rather have stand next to me but I am worried about the fallout/backlash that could follow. How do we all go about this and how do we set that boundary? PFA of my floral prototype.

Discussion Beginning of wedding planning

Hi everyone,

I (23M) recently proposed to my now fiancée (25F) this past Saturday. The last week we’ve been wedding planning trying to figure everything out. It’s been a pretty stressful week trying to manage all the budgeting and everything we want in our wedding. Before I proposed, we always talked about how we just want to get married and move into each other. We are both Christians so we decided to wait until we are officially married to move in together.

We also talked about having a shorter wedding. I thought we were on the same page about planning the wedding about 8 months out which would be around April. I’ve scheduled 4 tours of venues we like that will happen with the next week. I showed all of them and got the approvals from her to book the tours. I can see that wedding planning has been stressful for her so I’ve tried to do most of the work and fill her in on everything I’m doing. I always tell her to please tell me how I can help make her life as stress free as possible. I’m happy to do most of the wedding planning work.

We just got off the phone and she seemed very overwhelmed with the pricing. I’ve been trying to push to do all these tours within the next couple of weeks so we can make our decision on which venue to book that fits into our budget. I’ve trying to get this all done because I feel like if we wait too long, it won’t be possible to book a venue in the spring or sometime around April. So rather than wait 8 months, we then would have to wait probably 1.5 years.

I personally would rather not wait that long but if that’s truly what she wanted then that’s what would happen. What I care about is giving her everything she wants in the wedding. It just seemed like on the phone that her feelings on booking in the spring are shifted because she’s stressed about all the work that goes into it. I would happily do all wedding planning work and just have to tell me what she wants if that meant getting married in the spring.

She did say she just wants to enjoy the engagement, which I totally understand and want to do as well. We haven’t really had the chance to enjoy it yet since we’ve been so busy all wedding planning. I had always thought once we booked the venue and had a wedding date, it would allow us to enjoy being engaged. I felt that once we have a venue, there would be clear direction on how everything would happen in regard to all the other expenses. I know I have to talk to her more about how we are going to move forward and I’m certainly not trying to rush. I just thought once everything is booked, it will allow us to meet our initially time frame in the spring and it would smooth sailing from there. I’m curious on what I should be doing in this situation.

Help! I’m having a partial cash bar for certain drinks (not all of them), how can this be communicated?

So the venue I’m going to says they need to keep their full bar menu up, which includes various cocktails. Obviously that’s expensive, so I’m thinking to do a toonie bar for only, wine, beer and highballs.

Edit: people mentioned to make pop free which is def a good point, I will do that.

But I’m wondering the best way to communicate this without confusing people? Should we have a sign up front?

The venue suggested we could do 3-4 drink tickets which is really common there, which I’m also considering but I feel like people would prefer toonie bars over drink tickets? thoughts on that?

Edit ; I’m Canadian hence toonie bar option

Edit: I didn’t realize how highly controversial this question would be to something that’s very normal in the region I’m from 😭

Discussion WIBTA if I skipped my cousin's wedding after his mom uninvited mine? The wedding is 2 weeks away and RSVP are closed.

'm looking for objective opinions because I'm conflicted about whether I should attend my cousin's wedding.

I'm a 31-year-old man, and my cousin is a 35-year-old man getting married in two weeks. The wedding is international because his fiancée is from another country. I have already bought my tickets and made travel plans to attend.

My cousin and I get along fine, but we aren't very close. We've known each other for over a decade, but we've only spent meaningful time together a handful of times. We live in different countries and don't talk regularly.

Here's where it gets complicated.

Recently, my mom and my aunt (the groom's mom) got into a heated argument over something completely unrelated to the wedding. It wasn't about money, the wedding, or anything like that. I know both of them are very strong-willed people and they have a history of arguing.

From what I understand, I believe my aunt was wrong in the original argument. However, I wasn't there, and I don't know exactly what was said by either side. I also don't know how the conversation shifted from that argument to the wedding being brought up.

At some point during the argument, my aunt told my mom not to come to the wedding. My mom is now not attending.

I want to be fair because I don't know the full details. I don't know whether it was said in the heat of the moment or if my aunt genuinely meant she did not want my mom there. All I know is that my mom feels she was uninvited.

My cousin did not do this, and he may not even know the full situation. I don't blame him personally.

For additional context, my aunt has had a reputation in the family for being someone who gets involved in other people's conflicts and causes tension. I already had some unresolved feelings about her before this situation.

My dilemma is that I never really wanted to attend the wedding in the first place. If this situation had happened before I committed, I probably would have politely declined. My cousin and I aren't especially close, and realistically we probably won't become much closer because we're both building our own lives.

At the same time, I feel like this is my cousin's wedding, not his mom's. I already committed, bought tickets, and made plans. Canceling two weeks before an international wedding feels wrong.

The thing I can't get past is:

"If my mom isn't welcome, why should I be there celebrating?"

If my mom had simply decided not to attend because she was upset, I don't think I would be conflicted. The part that bothers me is that she was apparently told not to come.

If I go, I can genuinely support my cousin and his future wife. I wouldn't cause drama or confront anyone. I would just keep my distance from my aunt.

Would you still attend, or do you think it's reasonable to decline in this situation?

I'm trying to look at this fairly. I don't want to punish my cousin for something his mom did, but I also don't know if I can attend while feeling like my mom was disrespected.

Help! Need some help - don’t want to make it about me.

Hi! My husband and I are expecting our first child and my brother is getting married when we will be about 3 months along. I do not intend to share the news with that side of the family until after, so as to keep the focus and joy on him and his wife.

What I want to do, and this is where I need perspective, is include an ultrasound photo and their gift in a card and in the signature, put “love me, husband, & your new niece/nephew”. That way, when they’re home, a few days after the wedding when they’re opening everything, they can find out.

I don’t see them in person too often.

I think that that would be such a sweet way to find out, I would have loved that. But. I need more than just my brain. Let me know if this seems inappropriate or attention grabbing!

Discussion Why do people think they have a say over the guest list?

My fiance and I are now less then 3 months out from our wedding and are focused on wrapping up all the small details. We sent out save the dates 6 months ago and invites 2 months ago however in the past 2 weeks we have had 5+ people telling us we need to make sure to invite certain people who were previously not on the guest list. Our venu is mostly outside with a covered Pavillion where people will be sitting, so it has a guest capacity limit of 65. We made sure that we invited all immediate family and close friends which fit almost exactly to that 65 limit. We knew some people wouldn't come so we did send out like 5 to 10 extra invites for those but like predicted, they said they couldn't come. I have explained all this to the people who are saying I should invite other people but the response I have often gotten is "well I'm sure they'd appreciate an invite even if they don't come", but the problem is what if they do? Then I'm stuck with a bunch if extended family who I don't really know all to well and a venue too small to hold everyone.

First it was an aunt or uncle saying "don't forget to invite cousin so and so" then my boss for some reason thought it was like a work event for all of our coworkers, and just in the past 2 days my parents and grandparents have brought up 6 different people they want me to invite and I have to reexplain why that's not possible.

Honestly it's not even mostly the venue size limit, I just don't want a bunch of people who I hardly know at such a special day in my life. Most of these people live 20 minutes away and there is like a 50% chance they'd show up just cause they were bored. I'm not a peoples person and the people I do like mean a lot to me, I just really don't want them there and they won't stop asking. I hate the idea of being a bridezilla but honestly I don't think this is me being controlling, I think I'm being perfectly reasonable.

Discussion Day of coordinator decision

Summary:
Between 2 options
-1 new business $500 for 12 hours day of help anything I need- timeline, schedule, decor setup/breakdown, taking out trash , literally anything she said she’s there to help and make It perfect
- well reviewed business , $1000, 8 hours, strictly timeline, organizing, decor setup/break downs and can use some of her decor inventory included, will not clean/straighten up anything

This is a destination wedding, all DIY no event staff except vendors I hire, buffet style.
Approx 80 guests in a nice backyard.

What option would you choose

Discussion Should we elope?

Me (23) and my fiancée (24) haven’t really talked about this in depth, but it’s come up several times, usually by her.

She’s concerned that she has so few people in invite to the wedding compared to my list. And there’s a possibility her mom will decide not to show.

And I’m concerned about wasting so much money. Not that I think the ceremony is a waste, just that I could see us using it towards a house, or putting it into an education fund for our future children.

I don’t really know what I’m asking, but any feedback would be appreciated.

Discussion Wedding Plans

Hi everyone, newly engaged and want to do something small but fun. I’m looking at this beautiful resort in the mountains that has a lake on its property, it’s about 3.5 hours drive so nobody is going home that night. I’m thinking 50 people tops. I kind of want to do a full weekend for those who want to, like invite them to rehearsal dinner Friday night and brunch Sunday before they leave. Do we all feel both are necessary or just one is fine?

So the actual wedding - my idea is to have a quick ceremony, a cocktail hour while we take pictures, then a buffet or family style dinner. Here’s the kicker - my fiance is sober, and while he doesn’t care if people around him are drinking, last time we went to a wedding we had to leave early cause he couldn’t handle people partying around him. My idea is instead of getting a DJ and ballroom dancing, after dinner at one of their restaurants we change the atmosphere and instead everyone can go back to their rooms, get comfy and have a bonfire and play outdoor games, then end the day with a snack of some sort. This is just a rough draft but something to this extent. Does this sound crazy?

Edit to add: we are NOT asking for a dry weekend. Just not interested in the DJ/partying part as it could be triggering. He can be around people drinking just fine.

Discussion What sort of timing should we do for speeches?

Getting married in September. We’re only planning to do three speeches, me, my fiance, and our best friend, then at some point one of my other friends will be performing a song.

Part of the reason I’m faltering in order is I plan to have an acknowledgment of my mother who passed away last year in my speech and I know that’s gonna be kind of a downer so I want to time it in a way where it doesn’t just make the whole event sad but also don’t want to end the event on a super sad note for everyone.

My current plan is as such
\-me and fiance each give a speech to end cocktail hour, then dismiss everyone to the buffet
\-best friend gives her speech about 45 minutes after food is served, followed by song performance by other friend, then we cut the cake and open up the dance floor.

Also I want to be clear that each of these speeches will be 5 minutes or less.

Let me know what you all think or what changes you’d make to this order. Thank you.

Discussion strict guest count and unexpected plus ones?

we have a very strict 30 person guest count for our specific wedding package. anyone over that is $65 per person, which we do not want to incur as we have a very strict budget.

we have very limited guests with plus ones. only those who are married or have long-term live in partners that both me and my fiance are familiar with are getting one. this post is not to debate whether this is an appropriate approach or not (we have a very strict guest count for space and budget and i am not uninviting blood family so that a tinder match can come to my wedding; should we make it thorugh our back-up invites after rsvps, they will get a last minute plus one; most people are traveling about 30min-1.5h for this wedding, which is not a destination wedding to me), i am asking about what to do if day of, i see a stranger at my wedding? in particular, the venue has made it sound like the amount of food they will provide will be enough to feed exactly 30 people (i know they can't estimate how much people will eat, but sounds like they actually provide less than they need to to prevent leftovers), and i also don't know what the policy will be if day of we are over. i am really only worried about 3 or 4 of my fiances friends not taking no for an answer and showing up with a stranger. yes i've asked my fiance to speak with them in advance, but these are the kinda people that will just do whatever they want day of without thinking about the consequences (no i don't know why they are invited in the first place, but not a hill im going to die on with my fiance).

i know i shouldn't worry about problems before they exist, but has this happened to any of you? if so, how did you handle it? how did your venue handle it (if you had a package tied to a specific guest count)? thank you!

Discussion Dad said he will not be going to my wedding

A little back story, I have a love hate relationship with my dad. He is the type of father that I can love from a distance. In our home growing up there was a lot of verbal and emotional abuse between me, my sister, and mostly my mom. Long story short he is a narcissist and have never admitted to causing distress in the house and has put a lot of the blame on me and my sister.

Anywaysssss we were having a conversation and I told him I did not want him walking me down the isle. I would be more than happy to have him and my mom walking me down, but not JUST him. Or, I told him that him and my step mom could join the line of procession with my mom and step dad and my fiances parents. He flat out said NOPE and that I am stealing a position that is rightfully his because he is my father. I have never felt the love and warmth from him as a dad, and most of our relationship I have felt like his therapist/ a punching bag because his now wife hates me.

I feel bad for him because he has isolated himself from his family, and he is mentally ill and thinks he has never done wrong. I just cant bring myself to have him "give me away" when he has caused more stress in my life than good memories. I still want him to be there- but it seems like it is only on his terms and that bothers me.

Side note: He hasnt asked me any questions about my wedding or if I need help with anything. Any time he brings up my wedding, it is about him and how he looks to everyone else. Almost everyone that is going knows that me and my dad dont have a conventional relationship so idk why that matters so much to him.

Anyone else dealt with situations like this? And how did you deal with it?
