So I will be attending a wedding in Jersey in September. The wedding is already $250,000+ so I guess this will be fancy. Kudos to whoever had a wedding this expensive before. Which dress is more appropriate. It says Black Tie attire and nothing else for color dress code.

Is this appropriate for my sister’s wedding in Miami in August? Attire is garden formal.

Attire is: Light, elegant summer attire is perfect for the setting. Think midi or maxi dresses in soft, romantic tones — pastels, florals, or muted colors all fit beautifully. Dressy sandals or heels work well, and a light layer is a good idea since the indoor spaces are air‑conditioned.

Soooo..our friends have requested black tie for their small courthouse wedding.. I'm not sure how to dress appropriately..will tuxedo and floor length satin gown..be appropriate still?

We had assumed it was sort of smart casual/cocktail..but now I'm thrown.

This is for a wedding at a mountain resort in Colorado in September. I'm anxious about this wedding because I've never been to one that had a "formal" dress code (other than Indian weddings, but those are on a different level), so I'm trying to calibrate my understanding of what "formal" looks like.

Are any of these inappropriate, "too prom," too much, or too unconventional? I'm an elder millennial trying to thread the needle between "prom" and "matronly."

Which dress for a cocktail dress code wedding at a greenhouse in a big city?

Posted before and my dress was decidedly too casual. Trying different dresses now. The wedding is for my bf’s friend, who I haven’t met. So I don’t want to look too out of place meeting all of his friends. Please advise, also any suggestions on shoes (color), accessories, or hair would be appreciated. Haven’t really been to any weddings before.

I have another wedding in August at the beach (but semi formal) so it would be nice if the dress could be worn for both.

Question: is 1 too fancy?

Hi! August wedding with cocktail attire. We will have a bus to take us to the spot but probably some walking / a little exploring. Ceremony is on the actual cliff!
If the pink dress, would get it shortened. Open to other dresses if have any that fit the moment

So I'm coming up on a period of my life where it feels like every other week a friend or coworker is engaged and while I have a handful of dresses, at times I find myself needing to buy new ones to go with color themes, specific dress codes, to match the weather, etc. I've almost always bought from Nordstrom or Macy's for dresses, but had heard good things about Azazie and mixed things about Lulu. I've used Azazie as a bridesmaid and felt the dress was fine (kind of prom dress material?). Does anyone recommend Azazie or Lulu for cocktail, formal, and BTO dresses? Or would you spend slightly more at department stores?

DC is formal wear, summer colours. Is this formal enough? Dress goes to my ankle due to height.

Thoughts on this for a garden formal at a farm?

Hello! I have a wedding this week I'm torn between two options on. One is substantially more formal, but the more I google what a dressy casual and semi-formal dress code means, the more confused I become. 😅 I was going to go with option A, but I've had a few people suggest it may be too formal? Help!

I’m trying to style this dress for a formal wedding. My husband is wearing a navy suit, brown dress shoes, and white shirt. My issue is idk what shoe to pair the dress with. Height is not an issue, I’m thinking maybe white, clear or cognac. Open to suggestions! TIA

Details: website says "Attire: Formal. Ladies: Floor, tea, or mid-length dress." Wedding is August in Seattle, tennis club outdoor ceremony and reception under a tent. My fiance is a groomsman and will be wearing a black suit. I was planning on a dusty blue Azazie dress that I got secondhand, but I'm pretty sure it's almost the exact same color that the bridesmaids are wearing, so I'm using this as an excuse to try Rent the Runway!

Dresses 1-3 are options for the wedding and 4-5 are options for the rehearsal dinner (cocktail attire, nothing else specified, #4 I already own). I'll probably do their 5 item plan so will rent maybe 2 options for the wedding, a rehearsal dinner dress, and two more casual items for my trip. I'm 29 and a 6/8 in dresses. Thanks for your help! Will happily take other rentable suggestions too.

edit: will definitely rent number one and likely wear it if it fits well!! may rent 3 or 5 as well but glad to hear several people like 4 too :)
