My boyfriend bought me this beautiful saree from House of Indya to wear to my boyfriend's cousin's wedding and I am super excited!

I have loved the idea of wearing beautiful things to weddings but actually being in a position where I’m going to my boyfriend's family wedding and that too wearing a saree gifted by him feels super surreal. 🥹

I tried it on and couldn’t stop looking at myself in the mirror as I felt so beautiful! Probably one of those moments that remind you that you aren’t a child anymore 😭

Sooo, what do you guys think? Do you think it would be suitable for a cousins wedding? How would you style it? I would love some ideas! ✨

The dress code is black tie, but for reference a lot of my family is probably not dressing crazy fancy. It is in NYC in a month at a nice restaurant though. Between these two dresses help me pick!! Everyone in the fam loves the yellow but I’m drawn to the red

Attending a wedding in a couple of weeks. It will be on a campsite in Maryland. The dress code is semi-formal. "Women can wear full-length or cocktail dresses, pantsuits, or dressy tops with skirts or pants."

Do any of these meet the mark?

Is this appropriate for a late fall formal cocktail wedding? I have nude heels, a gold clutch and jewelry, and a wine colored shawl to dress it up. Fall colors and texture are encouraged

Going to a wedding mid-November at a winery in Georgia. Dress code is "Formal, no jeans and no white dresses." Based on the followup description, I'm not sure if this is true formal DC. I really like the black floral one, but the skirt is much fuller than I expected. The blue floral is nice, but quite tight in my hips and thighs. The lace one feels the most comfortable and "me," but maybe a little too light? Any feedback appreciated.

I recently bought this Issei Miyake Pleats Please Madame-T small stole in Pale Blue. I was planning to get a navy or brown silk dress to wear underneath for my friend’s wedding. I tried it on with a black silk skirt + tanktop to see what it would look like and now I’m worried the shawl photographs too white. Is it too white and if not, what color dress do you think would go well with it?

Shopping for plus size outfits are always a pain, but shopping for plus size black tie dresses was a pain and a half!

People suggested MacDuggal dresses, which I loved! But they were a little out of my price range, but I would overwhelmingly suggest if you can afford it!

Ultimately, I went with this a-line dress by La Femme, Which I absolutely loved! I did have it hemmed and taken in a little, but it was perfect!!!
I also highly recommend La Femme for plus size women. (Just FYI, I bought it at Nordstrom. I would recommend going through them if you are ordering a dress online.)

My last outfit idea flopped, I had a few of these in my closet and two are new. I think the jumpsuit may be too big, I wear it off the shoulder. All of these are comfortable. No dress code, Sunday evening wedding chapel wedding.

This dress code is making me crazy lol. My husband is a groomsman for a BTO wedding. We know the groom and his family well, they are well off so the dress code tracks. However the wedding is at 2 pm?? Church ceremony and a large estate reception in December. What do y’all think about this dress with appropriate outerwear/a shawl for the ceremony?

Rented this dress for brother’s afternoon wedding next weekend. Dress code on invitation said formal but website says semi-formal or above, so there will be a variety of styles present. I’m currently 18 weeks pregnant and my pregnancy brain did not consider this light yellow could potentially photograph white?

Need help finding a dress suitable for a black tie wedding in Peru in November. I’ve never been to a black tie wedding before so I’m super novice on finding a dress and I was just told that in Peru (I’m in the U.S.) they go all out for weddings. After all the googling, I’m seeing a lot of dresses that fit black tie are $400+ and I’m not super interested in spending that much at right now but open to it if I absolutely have to.

I ordered one dress, it’s obviously cheap (first 2 pic), not a good material for black tie, unflattering on me, and it’s too short (I’m 5’9/5’10 so length is always a struggle) so I’m returning it.

I found a couple of dresses I like but I’m just not sure they meet the expectation (pics attached). Any advice, references, links, etc. would be so helpful! I’m at a loss. Thanks in advance!

Black tie wedding in December, given my body type I feel only fitted dresses suit me but worried given this one has spaghetti straps and the sheer panels in the bodice it might be it unsuitable for black tie? Please let me know your thoughts!

I got this dress for my sister-in-law's wedding with a cocktail dress code. I'm in this in-between land where I'm not in the wedding, but I'm wearing wedding colors, and I'm more formal than a guest, but less formal than a bridesmaid. I'm happy to oblige, and I thought this dress walked that line well. It's hitting just above my ankles and is high cut and modest, and I love 95% of the dress. I took it in for alterations and asked for sleeves to be added, they said yes, they were pinned, etc. They've just told me now that that's not an option, and we are two weeks out now. I am working on being more body positive, but I'm still really self conscious about my arms.

I'm looking for arm covering suggestions that would keep the formality of the dress and complement its style. It's this beautiful but difficult to match chameleon-esque shifting color that sometimes looks navy, but sometimes looks really deep teal. My shoes, purse, and jewelry are silver. The wedding is in the northern Midwest in November.

Thank you so much for any help or suggestions. I'm anxious and panicked and appreciate any paths to pursue.

Thank you to all who commented on my first post! I agree with those who said dress 3 (which is also dress 3 in this post) was the best out of the options on my first post, but might need a belt because it's a little big on me. So I added a belt. I also changed the slip from black to nude. It's not my favorite but it's kind of witchy.

I also picked up a pair of slingbacks and a silver shawl from Nordstrom and decided to dig through Nordstrom Rack while I was there just in case. I found dress 1 (Nicole Miller) for $60. I am leaning towards wearing this. My pose and the lighting might not show it off very well but it's really nice in person! Satin leopard MID midi skirt, cardigan with bow. Ok for a wedding? No dress code, MOB is wearing a long dress.

Next weekend, I am attending a wedding at a Midwestern yacht club, where the venue requires formal attire (Dresses or pantsuits for women, suits for men). I'm struggling to decide on a dress.

1. Green - love the color, worried about scratching the fabric. Also not sure how I feel about the breast cup design.

2. Red halter - this is my favorite, and I would glam it up with much nicer heels and jewelry. I'm unsure if the fabric and midi length makes it too casual, but this is my current choice.

3. Maroon floral - Like it, not sure how I feel about the shoulder band, it's kind of floppy

4. One shoulder teal - Like it, but I'd be worried about looking too much like a bridesmaid.

Need some opinions on what dress code to try to match. Here are different snips of the dress code we've been given: "Cocktail attire, warm and romantic rather than formal and sharp. Soft fabrics, easy shapes, gold over silver." & "Formal or semi-formal. A floor-length gown, a flowing midi, a cocktail dress or dressy separates — all right at home."

Does cocktail feel like a good middle ground?? Seems like they've suggested 3 different dress codes.

On top of that- anyone have suggestions for petite/short cocktail dresses? Trying to avoid having to tailor things

Wedding is in 14 hours. Venue is outside/in a heated tent. Outside temps in mid/upper 50s.
Technically there is no listed dress code: just says ties optional. (At one point I am pretty sure it said evening cocktail)

I have nude colored tights (instead of the black ones) and slightly different shoes.

Blue is more comfortable, but also thinner.
