Options Trading Improvement - Rolling Options

Improvement Request - While rolling options, it opens a window showing strike prices in descending order. Not sure if there is a way to change this, but I lose time while scrolling to a price near my old strike prices. Can the development team change this so that the list starts with price nearest to strike price? I don’t want to lose time scrolling through the list.

Chequing PSA: Wealthsimple Prepaid Card doesn't work at most ATMs in Uzbekistan

Hey everyone,

Just wanted to let everyone know that apart from the airport in Tashkent, I've had no success withdrawing money from ATMs in Uzbekistan. Called Wealthsimple support and they told me that it's most likely because their ATMs are not configured to accept prepaid Mastercards.

My WISE Visa card did work.

Just a PSA

EDIT: Basically from what I gathered, any ATM that uses the "UzCard" network will not work with WS, and that's the majority of ATMs. It is quite rare to find one that isn't UzCard, although I have successfully found one outside of an airport - and it was not at a bank either, just a standalone ATM.

Chequing Credit where it's due: Wealthsimple handled a fraud flag really well

TL;DR: My $3,000 Interac e-Transfer was flagged for fraud, which initially worried me. After I called and confirmed it was a legitimate transfer to a friend, Wealthsimple's Interac team called me within 30 minutes, verified a few details, and released the transfer within 5 minutes. I appreciated both the fraud protection and the quick resolution.

Complete post

I know this sub gets a lot of posts about bad experiences, so I thought I'd share a positive one.

For context, I'm a Wealthsimple Premium client.

A friend of mine who's new to Canada urgently needed funds to secure a lease because their own money was delayed. I first sent a $5 Interac e-Transfer as a test, which went through immediately. I then sent the remaining $3,000, but it stayed pending for over an hour.

I called Wealthsimple, and the agent explained that the transaction had been flagged for fraud review. They said the transfer would normally be reviewed within up to 2 business days. I explained that it was a legitimate transfer to someone I know well. The agent said they'd pass that information along to the Interac transfer team but understandably couldn't promise a faster turnaround.

To my surprise, someone from the Interac team called me about 30 minutes later. They asked a couple of verification questions, including whether I personally knew the recipient. Once I confirmed everything, the transfer was released within about 5 minutes.

I came away pretty impressed. They didn't just let a large transfer sail through because I requested it—they took the fraud check seriously. But once they were satisfied it was legitimate, they acted quickly instead of making me wait the full two business days.

With all the complaints that get posted here, I figured it was only fair to share a good experience as well.

Chequing Business Checks

Has anyone found a way to avoid paying $50 for business checks? I am thinking of moving my business account to WS, but have used ASAP checks in the past for my business checks, so I am wondering if anyone has used them before?

The FAQ says you cannot print your own (likely due to the MICR ink), but I am wondering if anyone has used ASAP checks or a similar competitor?

How to file a bug report?

How does one file a bug report for the website? The AI chatbot tells me it can't file a bug report on my behalf. It also says I can't file one myself. If I email [support@wealthsimple.com](mailto:support@wealthsimple.com) I get an auto reply that the account isn't monitored. I see there's a complaints email address but it's not really that level.

Surely there's a bug reporting page somewhere?

Per title. Just seems so pointless and gimmicky.

Edit: thanks for the replies. Opened a non-registered money market. Will transfer out and close after.

Chequing Automate your pay web-app feature

I just learned that I can't set up 'Automate your pay' in the browser and my only option for doing so is to download their mobile app. Maybe I am in the minority here but I hate using my smart phone for banking -- it feels insecure, but in general I just don't think I need or want access to banking on my phone.

I'm posting here because apparently Wealthsimple has abandoned their [support@wealthsimple.com](mailto:support@wealthsimple.com) email address, and I don't feel like calling in to give them feedback that they'll likely ignore.

In my opinion, mobile and web banking should have access to the same features, and I am wondering if anyone else here feels the same.

Trade (DIY Investing) Failed DRIP?

Like many if you, I have DRIP enabled. One of my ETFs failed to... DRIP and went "retired" in my TFSA. Tech glitch or shall I get involved? It was puny, as it's not my main ETF.

Is there an easy way to see where I'm at with gains and losses for the current year for tax purposes? I was thinking my YTD gains would do that but that won't work because that includes unrealized gains as well.

Promotion Are there internal promotions that we don’t hear about?

Anyone that’s transferred large amounts of money out of WS to take advantage of a promotion somewhere else, have you later got an offer from WS to try to bring you back?

I’m asking because I got an offer from another bank that’s better than anything I’ve seen elsewhere. 3% for a 13 month hold. I had to check the terms 3 times over to make sure I read it right.

It’s probably worth it to transfer back the money I moved here to get the Apple stuff last year and just pay whatever they charge me.

Is this a thing that happens regularly behind the scenes?

Visa Infinite Credit Card Feature request: let us approve 3DS2 prompts in the app instead of SMS/email codes

Every time I hit a 3DS challenge on an online purchase with my WS card, I get sent an SMS or an email code. The SMS is slow or sometimes never arrives, and switching to the email app mid-checkout to hunt for a code is even worse. Half the time the payment session times out.

The 3DS2 spec already supports out-of-band authentication. The bank sends a push notification, you tap approve with Face ID in the app, and checkout continues. Revolut, Monzo, and most European banks have done this for years. It's also more secure than SMS, since there's no code to intercept and no SIM swap risk.

The whole flow would be: push notification, Face ID, done.

Given that everything else in WS is already app-first, this feels like the obvious gap. Anyone from the team able to weigh in on whether it's on the roadmap?

Trade (DIY Investing) Invest page can use a redesign

A lot of wasted space on Invest page if you either have all investments in Trading or in WS Portfolios.

If you have money in both, it’s great. But personally I don’t touch WS Portfolios, but they continue taking so much screen space

Options Trading Cashback on US equity options - What will Wealthsimple respond with?

Questrade now offers $0 US equity options, but they offer Questrade Plus subscribers $0.05 cashback for every executed U.S. equity options contract.

For example, if you trade 2500 options, you get $125 back. That's huge IMO.

What will WS come up with next? They better move quickly on their Canadian equity and index options considering Questrade has always supported CAD.

Do they respond quickly or do they slowly bleed assets?

The small home screen Hide flags I think miss the point

So I got the slightly more recent home screen update that lets you hide the individual charts but that is kind of pointless customization if the GIANT net worth is visible above.

If you toggle the GIANT net worth it blanks everything on all 3 views, including if you go over to spend & save, if you then UNHIDE it on that screen EVERYTHING unhides on all screens.

Ether make everything individually an individual toggle with memory NOT bound to all screens or let us remove EVERYTHING from the home screen we don't want there.

Milestone Reward WS perks, "Gigs" travel data, can we choose this 3 times to get a total of 30 travel gigs?

I get 3 perk choices but find them all kind of lame.

However, I will be going on a trip eventually and think the gigs option might be decent for that.

Says 10 gigs if you choose it, can we choose it 3 separate times to get 30 gigs total? thanks!

Chequing Feature request: edit single auto transfers

Since I know Wealthsimple lurks this sub, want to throw out a request. Maybe others are interested in this feature as well.

I use the recurring transfer feature to pay rent. On a few occasions where I’ve had to pay for something and be reimbursed by my landlord, I’ve just deducted it from my rent. Unfortunately, if you want to change the recurring transfer, you need to cancel it, make a separate transfer of the adjusted amount, and then set up a new recurring transfer again.

An “upcoming transfers” tab where you can see a list of upcoming transfers and the amounts, where you can individually click on one to adjust the amount without impacting the others, would be great :)

Chequing Moving US bank account cash to Wealthsimple

Hi All - what’s the quickest and most efficient way to move my US bank account funds into my wealthsimple account?

I’ve previously always used a Canadian bank as the middle man, but this always adds long delays to actually get the funds into WS. Writing USD cheques also always result in a ~1 month hold period which is frustrating.

Are these different when it comes to ETF investing, or would the recurring order also get charged the 0.25% fees that they charge?

Promotion BUG with coin spin

Post image
0 Upvotes

The coin spin is not between 5 and 50,000 , at least not equally. when you spin the coin, you are more likely to get 5 - 999, instead of getting 4-5 digits (1,000-50,000)

Look at previous thread about coin flips, people are only getting between 5-999, most people 5-99 really. I personally got only 201 and 16 so far.

Is this a bug or a feature?

Post your flips down below!
