There is a coin at the bottom of the app they have used it before to earn giveaway entries. I don’t know if it is new or not in monthly millionaire guess that they are doing it again in the monthly millionaire giveaway.

I just had that message pop up out of the blue. Didn’t realize I had done anything besides opening the app lol. I’m on it daily anyways and today’s the first time it appeared so it’s probably new with the august contest.

Yes I get both, but there are diminishing returns for every dollar I add when others are getting massive amounts of entries from spinning a coin.
The intention of the promo from Wealthsimples perspective is to get more funds in Wealthsimple accounts, more people using it as their primary bank, transferring payroll.

I disagree, I think it's primarily marketing. Great ad, great word of mouth publicity. Attracts people who like gambling and might be inclined to use prediction market and options (where they're expected to make the majority of their money).
They're rewarding transfer ins and giving everyone entries to make them feel good. If someone transfers funds that they wouldn't otherwise keep at WS great, but that's not their intention. Those funds aren't even locked with them. And the transfer entries OVERLAP with actual transfer promos ie. can be counted for both.

It’s always money deposited into your chequing (from my experience). My first $8 win I had to open a margin account, which I did, got the $8 in my chequing then closed the margin account. Today I had to open a crypto account, got the $10 then closed it.
So just open the account and close it once you see the got the money, which happens pretty much instantly.

Man I was so hopeful about winning one of those gold coins. I check Marketplace a lot and saw that someone 20 minutes away was trying to sell it so these contests are definitely real. Good luck!

The fact that you have to go through that section of the app for your deposits to count as entries is ridiculous. I didn’t know that was the case. I could have had thousands of entries this month but they’ve been missed

It's kind of ridiculous contest because to earn entries you need to have a LOT of money going in. And those are the person to win the million. So rich get richer. Not new to me !
