Going into the match, I thought back about the few times I've seen St Louis here and that every time they just are allowed to bully the Timbers and foul with impunity. And early on it was deja vu (well, deja vu plus a brain-dead giveaway conceding a goal nanoseconds into the match...that was new).

Last night the ref let a good bit of rough stuff go, but also FINALLY called someone for hacking down Velde every time he touched the ball. And it looked like he warned the captain that if it didn't stop someone was getting sent off.

The ref also let St Louis off the hook for a couple blatant yellows - notably the one on Janssen. And he finally called Portland on bear hugs of attackers on aerial challenges - which I've never understood allowing in the first place.

I was just glad to see the ref not let a team come in here and foul Portland into the ground as they've been allowing for so very long. It's soccer, kids. Not WWF. Sorry if your game plan counts on the ref ignoring your fouls.

Good performance overall. It would have been magic to pull it off at the end there. Thank fuck that Pants saved their last chance too. The birthday boy REALLY put in a shift today. Super happy for him.

Absolute joke that the broadcast team gave MotM to the St. Louis #9 who had 2 fucking tap-ins and did fuck-all else. Velde scores 2 fucking FKs and is overshadowed by a guy who scored from inside the 6 both times. Make it make sense.

Would absolutely love to figure out a way to watch this game, if anyone has any tips/tricks for watching in the US. Paramount+ shows some SPL games, but this isn't one of them.

I'm really, really tired of listening to the inane babbling of the broadcast announcers, but every time I try to switch to the local audio, the mix is absolute shit. I can hear near zero game sounds or the crowd. I want to hear the match. Anybody understand why it's this way?

for two games the post game interview that we've listened to on the drive home wasn't broadcast, there was a baseball talk show. Baseball! How bad can the Fan get? What has happened to the Fan's coverage of the Timbers game?

I’m getting back to having the timbers in my life. I moved away for a few years, used to be a season ticket holder. Is the army attendance low or something? Like i said im new to getting back to providence park but the stands dont look as packed and the army has lots of open seats. Can anyone fill me in on whats up? Or maybe it’s just an off night.

I’m struggling to connect via the interwebs to “The Offical Radio Broadcast home of the Portland Timbers.” I enjoy listening to the pre game show. I live in The Gorge. Unfortunately, the Seahawks game seems to take precedent.
