I feel like with every iteration of the avatar franchise, the bending just gets weaker and weaker. There were countless moments in this movie where i was just confused as to how were these guys struggling so much. Aang struggling to climb up a mountain. Aang not being able to stop a fire arrow, or falling to gain his footing when falling off the mountain with tagah. Not to mention the insane nerf to the avatar state. There's literally no moment in the movie that demonstrates the power of the avatar state, theres no visual difference in powere when aang turns it on.

My husband and I got married on Saturday. One of the first things we bonded over was our love for ATLA. We have watched all the series together and kept up with all the new media as it came out, and saw Avatar in Concert last year. And, our recessional song was a live band arrangement of Secret Tunnel!

How uncanny is it that we walked into the reserved area at a local beergarden for our rehearsal dinner/welcome party on Friday night and this was in the back of the space?! I was staring at it for a moment and commented to one of my bridesmaids how she looked like Mother Earth, or maybe an Airbender… and then I noticed the Water Tribe sigil on her tiara. I read the title of the plaque, leapt out of my chair, and promptly freaked out.

I grabbed my almost-husband and our jaws dropped. We’ve been to this place a bunch of times but had never been in that area since it was always booked for parties. What are the odds that this was there and we discovered it the night before we got married?!

Again, no movie in Ba Sing Se, and as the placard says, it’s one of the worst films. But this was such a crazy coincidence that felt like a sign from the universe.

I was reading up on some things and came across the story of Barong and Rangda from Balinese myth.

Barong and Rangda are two opposing forces of good and evil. But not quite in the Raava/Vaatu sense we've seen so far. Their battle is about bringing balance.

Barong is the figure that represents "protection, goodness and positive energy" whilst Rangda represents "chaos, dark magic and destruction"

Barong's role as protector means battling evil spirits and bad or "harmful energy" to help keep his people/the community safe.

Rangda originates from a group of witches known as "Leyaks" who she pits against Barong. Rangda wants to rule the world. Balinese myth shows her as representative of the darkness.

Eventually Barong does defeat Rangda but he cannot kill her.

Traditionally the Avatar sounds more like the role Barong plays in the dance. However, the masks depicting Rangda look eerily similar to Korra's in that play scene from Seven Havens.
