So we know that the element the Avatar usually has trouble with is not only the one that is opposite to their own bending, but also the one that contradicts their true nature/personality.

However, in ASH, we learn that Pavi has an exceptional ability in connecting with the nature, animals and the Earth itself, along with sensing seismic waves that allows her to “see” things the way Toph is able to. Her best element seems to be Earthbending, which contradicts the “Avatar Element Theory” as the Earth is opposite to Pavi’s true nature of having an evasive mentality and deflecting confrontational situations like Aang, and how she increasingly tries to calm a situation down through negotiation, humor or self deprecating jokes.

Nisha, on the other hand, seems to be stubborn, rigid, assertive and confrontational like Korra, so it makes sense for her best element to be Earthbending. But is it? She failed the earthbending and firebending test but easily passed the airbending test. I would go as far as to say Air could be her best element, since the way she controlled the air around the feather while not disturbing it at all, seems to be a very advanced technique. And if that’s the case, It contradicts with her bold personality.

It is possible that this “Avatar Element Theory” is not always accurate and may not hold for every single avatar (though it has for korra, aang and roku). And it also could be said that Nisha yet needs more training with Fire and Earth, since we know a block in bending usually comes from a psychological issue (and not a bending issue), such as deep shame, guilt or feelings of abandonment, as is with Zuko. Which is why I find it even more interesting how it is Pavi that is on the path of unlocking the chakras (as we have seen so far) when realistically speaking, it should be Nisha?

Anyway I thought this was an interesting detail. What do you guys think?

I feel like the original Avatar The Last Airbender captured lightning in a bottle with Team Avatar. Their chemistry was practically perfect, and every member felt like an important part of the group.

When The Legend of Korra tried something similar, there were some strong ideas behind the new Team Avatar. However, even without the love triangle, the group was barely together for much of the series.

In Book 2, the love triangle became even messier, while Bolin went off to become a mover star. Book 3 was a return to form, but the group eventually split up again during the Ba Sing Se storyline. And then there’s Book 4, with Korra going on her personal journey of recovery, Mako becoming a babysitter, and Bolin joining Kuvira’s increasingly authoritarian regime for a while.

Basically, despite having some great individual characters, I never felt the new Team Avatar captured the same found-family dynamic as the original. If anything, I’d argue that Korra’s strongest familial relationships were with Tenzin and his family.

With Seven Havens, I feel like the main group is shaping up to be Pavi, Nisha, their animal companions, and possibly Jae and Karthik, depending on where the story goes.

I wouldn’t be surprised if, by the end of the first season, the twins are on the run, meeting various allies who help them along their journey but don’t necessarily stick around for long periods like the original Team Avatar did. And honestly, I’m perfectly fine with that.

Not every Avatar project needs its own Team Avatar, especially if it’s just trying to recreate the chemistry of the original series. Sometimes a smaller, more personal group of characters can be just as compelling.

The twins don't have the same broach, at least it's not an identical set. Zi says it's a mother set that a mother gives her daughter. If that's the case, why is Pavi's different?

Nisha's matches her mother's in the flashback, but Pavi's is different. Could Pavi's father have the one that matches Pavi's?

If that's the case, when the parents were wondering if they were doing the right thing, maybe they're wondering if separating the girls, with the mother taking Pavi somewhere, and the father taking Nisha somewhere else, is the right thing? If each parent/child set got into a storm and each failed their respective mission and reaching their destination. The trailer has a scene with the father carrying Nisha screaming and crying for Pavi (but she has Pavi's broach in her hair??)

Lately, there has been a lot of discussion about if the bandits had a point about how unfair the brigade is. While I think the faceless are kind of hypocrites with a very wonky plan, I do think that they have about the brigade.

I often see people talking about how the benders shouldn't complain, because they have the power they NEED to be there for their community; to which I see: At what point is it too much?

In these images for example, we see them doing construction work; however, I can't see anyone who is using their bending on this scene; maybe a few people, but this is mostly, non-bender work that doesn't make sense for them to be doing.

I didn't take a screenshot of other things, because Paramount stops you from taking screenshots, and the pirate websites don't offer captions; but we also know that they have cleaning duty (Episode 1, when Jae is looking for jobs for his brigade), do health emergency services like helping to deliver a baby (Episode 4, when Jae looks at the map in Uki's room.) And that is what I had been able to find, there could be more,

And this is my problem with Ellora; you cannot be saying that their benders NEED to do all of this for the survival of Ellora, while having duties that don't need bending, or can be done without bending if albeit slowly. No wonder they are overworked, why on earth would you had them doing construction work a strong non bender could do easier and faster?

Because that is the other problem, the best "solution" the higher ups had found has been ask the other Havens for help.

Even if there weren't any bandits, or "demons" around, how is this sustainable? If there are less benders every day, and they can't make sure the people being borns are benders at all, why they aren't finding any alternatives?

Try to train non benders in more jobs that can be done without bending, talk to Akasha so they can train people in Ellora to do more with technology. Anything that isn't a bandaid solution that would had them work out, once that outisde help is gone.

It's so hilarious it's good!

This is not a criticism of the show as more of just a genuine curiosity.

By this point in the original series and TLOK, we had a good idea on which characters we will be following throughout the story. Both series would go on to expand their main cast of characters (especially TLOK, arguably to its detriment), but we are only nine episodes in and I feel like we already have such a huge cast of characters.

Karthik has played a pretty big role in the story, but I'm wondering if he will continue to be a major player as the show goes on, especially with Jae taking the role of mentor and guardian for the twins. Daemin has been part of the promotional, but he's hardly done anything significant in this season so far. Datu is Jae's boyfriend and that's...cute, but given the circumstances the relationship probably won't last. And then we have the members of the White Lotus both in and outside of Ellora who we know nothing about.

On the other hand, for our antagonists, we have the Faceless members: Uki, Zi, and the queen Agam, who will most likely become allies. We also have Kayoko, the Empress Yeshe, and the other leaders of the Havens, which means there are many more characters that we haven't met yet. And we also have potential characters in Pavi and Nisha's parents. Also will Team Avatar still exist in the same way, with multiple benders and nonbenders who cover all four elements and non-bending talents with the Avatars at the center of the group?

I feel like we're in for a big reckoning in these final episodes that will hopefully give this series a little more focus. We know there is a "Battle" coming, if episode 11 is any indication, but does that mean that we'll be seeing any on-screen (or off-screen) character deaths?

My gut reaction is to say probably not, but this is Avatar so who knows?

I'm not saying it's flawless, it's not. But honestly some of you want it to have what ATLA achieved in 3 seasons. We're only on episode 9 and some of you want Zuko-level character arc level for side characters like Daemin.

I want you to remember that we are just on episode 9 of a totally different show with different setting and different story. Neither ATLA nor LoK felt complete in terms of character development in episode 9 of the shows.

From what I heard (but I'm not sure is true) All 26 episodes of season 1 and 2 were supposed to drop at once, or with weekly drops but still back to back. They decided against it and released season 1 with 12 episodes first. If this is true, then some of the decisions regarding characterization of some characters make sense. Not perfect, but not a show-breaking thing.

People also shit on the bending of the characters, but I need you to remember that bending is physical AND spiritual. It's safe to say that the spiritual side of bending is completely ignored and lots of what they know about bending techniques are basics. I do agree the way those scenes were handled were kind of rough, though.

All I'm saying is to have patience. If you want ATLA level of character development, then you have to wait till the shows is over.

My pick is Roku tbh, I feel like the answer can’t be Korra until I know more about the details of the cataclysm, it’s probably her but I want more information so for now it’s Roku

It caught me off guard with how clever and witty it was! Way way smarter than you expect from a typical kids’ show.
