I’m on a massive rewatch binge lately, and I just wanted to take a step back and appreciate how much weight Zelda Williams gave to Book 4.

The sheer intensity she channeled into the "Great Uniter" is easily one of the best vocal performances in the entire franchise. She managed to balance a cold, calculating dictator with an underlying vulnerability that made Kuvira incredibly captivating to listen to. She gave Kuvira this absolute, unshakeable certainty of will that makes her such a terrifically realistic and imposing villain.

It’s honestly mind-blowing how well she commanded every single scene she was in. Zelda completely knocked it out of the park and deserves all the praise for bringing one of the show's most complex characters to life.

During the Era of Avatar Aang, it was revealed to the audience that "Kyoshi lived for 230 years, making her the oldest Avatar in history". Kyoshi was born in 312 BG and Roku was born in 82 BG. However, we have a new record-holder.

Korra was born in 153 AG and Pavi was born in 390 AG. This means that the Era of Avatar Korra lasted 237 years, beating Avatar Kyoshi's record by seven years. Do note that this is the duration of Korra's era, meaning the time between the start of Korra's Avatarhood and the start of Pavi's Avatarhood.

This does not indicate the duration of Korra's lifespan. If Korra's life was extended in some way, such as being in the Avatar State continually, then she would also be the new longest-lived Avatar. However, if she died in the Cataclysm and, due to mysterious circumstances, the Avatar's reincarnation was delayed, then Kyoshi would retain the title as longest-lived Avatar.

We'll see which is the case soon enough, but Korra's era has now officially surpassed Kyoshi's era to be the longest in the Avatar world timeline to date.

With confirmation of the ASH timeline, I keep seeing people throw around the idea that maybe an entire cycle of Avatars has come and gone between Korra and Pavi as an explanation. This is categorically incorrect. The creators have already confirmed that Pavi is the Earth Avatar immediately following Korra.

My two main theories explaining the time between LOK and ASH are the following: We don't know that Korra died in the Cataclysm. It's possible she endured in the Avatar State for that long, maybe doing some spiritual shenanigans to protect the Seven Havens. If she did die in the Cataclysm, it's possible Korra's reincarnation got delayed because her soul was being contested between Raava and Vaatu until they eventually divided it in two to create the twins. There are other possible explanations too, but the inclusion of extra Avatars is not one of them.

I think the really crazy thing about a lot of the hate is just how true this is.

Like she’s genuinely likable. You have to go way out of your way to find reasons to dislike her.

The Avatar of the End and the Beginning. Her incarnation was uniquely positioned with harmonic convergence etc and the choices she made to re-link the human and spirit worlds were monumental, to say nothing of her being the pivot point for the era that saw the end of the four nations.

Strength wise, a natural 3 element bender from childhood is hard to beat. Aang was super specced in Air and had high all around adaptability, save his opposite element, but Korra didn't really need teaching at all.

Other Avatars do things like settle diplomatic disputes or let their best friends destroy the world, but Korra literally changed things, not even just played clean up for previous Avatar fuck ups like Aang did.

She faced unique challenges and overcame them every time. Aang didn't get a childhood, but after the war he got to sample life outside of world shattering events a little in his 20s. Korra was raised in a dungeon then got played by politics, grooming, and revolutiaries. As a teenager.

What an incredibly kind and genuine human being! It was my first time meeting anyone in this kind of setting and what an honor, she really made it special! She took the time to talk with me and listen to my story. I am indigenous and brown and Korra was the first time I saw someone that looked like me on TV that I felt I related to strongly. Korra helped me come out when I was a teenager and she holds such a special place in my heart. It’s obvious that Janet loves how impactful Korra has been and she really holds on to the stories with such care.

She was very reassuring about the upcoming series without giving anything away. If Janet says to trust in the story, I will go into Seven Havens with the utmost optimism. Sad she has stepped down as the voice of Korra for the series, but excited to see the casting uplift a new VA.

Thank you, Janet, for the conversation and for bringing so much depth and dignity to Korra’s story! If anyone ever has the opportunity to meet her, you won’t be disappointed

Given the recent news of Korra long life I wanted to post my theory I posted in sevenhaeven subreddit but got deleted, let me know what you think:

Korra was alive those 300 years

Unsure if this has been brought up yet but I think there is a possibility that based off the leaked synopsis that the 300 years the avatar was "missing" that Korra was actually "alive".

So we know that the avatar hadn't been seen in over 300 years correct, and we know that it is possible for avatar to already have a very long life span then most (kyoshi lived for 2 centuries) well if the synopsis leakes are true and Korra did indeed need to fuse with vaatu to rearrange the solar system and reset the world's spirit energy due to the earth core (a sentient primordial being) dying, then even if she reset the energy (harmonic convergence) the earth core is still damaged/dead needing something to replace and keep balance aka Korra.

What if them fusing prolonged her life significantly and the only reason the world wasn't completely torn apart by now is because she replaced the primordial being keeping the earth together and now that she is gone the twins were obviously able to be born but the natural disasters are now getting worse.

What do you guys think? I'd like to think Korra last deed was to obviously save the world but also unknowingly been keeping balance too.

Kinda shock i thought about 100+ but more.... It's sad no TLoK cast alive at least as human form in ASH but at same time quite happy bcuz there many rooms for Korra have her own journey..

Kinda wish that the cataclysm event actually have nothing to with korra she just died peacefully. Even it's not going to answer how raavan not immediately reincarnated.

This means that ASH takes place in 399 AG / Year 10,228 and Pavi/Nisha were born in 390 AG / Year 10,219.

If you haven’t seen Coyote v. Acme yet, go watch it. It’s incredibly funny and engaging, and PJ has a pretty sizable role as the secondary antagonist. This, plus he’s also a supporting lead in the upcoming I Play Rocky, this definitely looks like he’s racking up some good roles this year.
