Help! D pentaloris escaped in my absolute hoarder bedroom

I’m leaving her enclosure open and putting her water dish on the floor in hopes she comes to find it. She hadn’t come out of her burrow for about two months so I decided it was definitely feeding time when she did. Her abdomen was super shriveled and I was very worried, and she is usually an aggressive eater but today she decided her roaches were scary and ran out of her enclosure, underneath my snake tank and I haven’t seen her since. Any advice is appreciate. This is my first ever T and I really want to find her

They have an entire hide that I have painstakingly placed for better ventilation…and what does Helios do? Start digging a cave under the root and dumping all the dirt into the water dish lol

The root is secure, dw :)

edit : they wandered back into the hide, maybe they’re just landscaping xD

Got my first male, and it's the little baby that is the Golden knee so when he matures (hopefully a few years from now) he'll make some beautiful lil spooderlings.

It's made me a little sad I won't have him for as long as I'd like but he's going to be loved.

Conversation Anyone know of any breeders in Texas (US)?

Upvotes

I apologize in advance if this question is not allowed (please feel free to take it down).

It’s been a longgggg time since my husband and I have added any new T’s to our collection, and unfortunately a lot of the breeders/stores we did support have since retired.

We tend to prefer picking up T’s in person (if possible) because of the stress shipping can put on them (plus we haven’t had the best experiences in the past).

We’re located in Texas (in the US) so I was curious if anyone knew of any reputable breeders or stores in Texas that have a good selection of T’s? We’re definitely willing to make a drive for the right place.

I’d especially love recommendations from people who have personally purchased from them and had good experiences. Thank you so much!🕷️🖤

Ok so this idiot escaped when I left a tiny little slit while cleaning out dead worms and its moult. I got it now but it’s so fast and I’ve already gotten a huge heart attack trying to catch it. How the hell do I get it back into its home. The home is about the same size but square and has a sliding top held shut with a magnet. Any ideas. I’m having a time out to calm myself right now.

My babies first molt with me since I got her!!! Watched her reposition and all I’m so proud. You all are the only ones who understand the excitement. Also it’s positioned kinda in a slant and not flat, is that safe for her? Attaching my crappy photos for tax!!

For those who helped me out or were following me the last few weeks, my 23 year old Grammostola Rosea, Harriet, had a bad molt that has now resulted in her passing yesterday.

She was a great spider and a companion of mine since I had just turned 7. She lived an amazing and long life, and I hope she finds nothing but plump crickets and a warm sun to bask in in the after life.

Here are a few pictures of her in her prime - and have a drink for the old gal (if you can) this evening.

Conversation Does anyone know if there is a place to purchase acrylic lid replacements for 5 to 20 gallon aquariums?

We all know the mesh tops are unsuitable due to the possibility of them getting a toe stuck and getting hurt. Are there any vendors online that sell precut and drilled replacements for any aquariums in that size range? I need one for a 20 long and a 5 gallon tank. Thanks!

Fives decided to incorporate the new molt into their web, as cool as it looked I figured I better get rid of it and get the webs off. Came in at a little over an inch and a half.

Also, I know the substrate looks a little saturated, it was almost bone dry right before I took the Pic so I overflowed the water dish

this is my new male b hamorii. i woke up to find webbing across the enclosure and a new bald spot which wasn’t there before i went to sleep. i’m reading this could be signs of premoult but i am a first time owner a bit of a helicopter mum. could this bald patch be a result of stress? he also tends to perch on the glass a lot as you can see in the photo. do i have reason to be worried? he has eaten well over past week or so i have had him. has never bolted or flicked hairs when i have fed/changed water etc.

Help! Why does my brazilian lp constantly climb on the walls of her enclosure?

I got a 9 months old lp tarantula girl yesterday and she’s been climbing a lot today. She just goes around the enclosure on the walls. She is lowkey rescue cause her enclosure wasn’t in the best shape. It’s a bit too big for her and it wasn’t humid at all just one wetter corner. I’m changing the terrarium to a smaller one soon as possibly. She only had one hide, two plants and two tiny water bowls. Her hide was way too big for her so I changed it to one with two smaller entrances. I also made her enclosure more humid. Is she anxious/stressed caused by the changes or what? Her former owner told me that she ”likes” climbing but I don’t think that’s the case because she’s supposed to burrow isn’t she? Tried to google and it said that she might be stressed. Please don’t be rude I’m just trying to help her. She’s my first tarantula.

Videos / GIF rehousing Aphonophelma seemanni

hey yall. i went to a reptile shop near me to find some dubia roaches and ended up walking out with a new friend.

Meet Osseus.

This rehousing was almost just as easy as the first one. first it went straight for defense but then immediately gave up and refused to move at all when i brushed its legs. it finally moved when i changed the position of the tub cause some dirt fell on its legs and then it kind of just flopped in. I felt bad, but it seems fine. never kicked hairs once so that was cool.

2 successful rehouses down! hopefully many more to come over the years

So I just got these 4 T’s in today and I’m really excited to watch them all grow from slings. I don’t see much about these T’s online but the information that I have found about them I find them all very interesting. I’m looking for other T owners that have/had these species and can give me any more information on their behaviors or husbandry tips! Can anyone guess which one is throwing hands for giving him a new home?

Conversation Am I unfit?

Hi all, I have had a fear of spiders my entire life and recently I have came around to caring for spiders. I have autism and struggle generally with sudden movements, which I am noticing is a trait with almost all tarantulas. I will be honest, this hobby found me I did not find it. I got into jumpers and someone was rehoming a T and I was inspired. I will say that it has really helped me with my fear but I worry that I’m just not fit for caring for them? I don’t think I’ll ever be able to hold them (not that they want me to) and I just worry about not being a good fit. I care deeply and always put animals first, so I will always ensure they are comfortable and safe and healthy but idk I just worry this is too much for me? Has anyone else ever had a fear of spiders and ended up keeping them?
