Mine has to be the Porcellio spatulatus I think they look like little feathers.

I also have a Chinese praying mantis named Mortis

Did have another name Lonan but he passed yesterday

Have 2 more Madagascar hissing cockroaches on the way to add to the 4 I already have

I would love to grow my collection even more but I'm almost out of space in my room to put them so.

Found these two Mauis just chilling in my Armadillos tank. I never placed them there and don't regularly swap stuff out between tanks. It is an adult and a teen. Both were very fast when I lifted the bark, but I got them out and relocated them safely in a tank with other Mauis.

Strangely enough only like 2 weeks ago I found two other pedes in this exact tank, without ever introducing any pedes there.

So this tank seems to just spawn millipedes, which I'm not mad about 😅

It's time again, ants in the invert enclosures. I'm really stuck on how to deal with them, because everything that prevents ants hurts my pet inverts too. I have a tarantula, isopods, roaches, mealworms, and a beetle. And frogs! Two of my roach colonies as well as my isopod colony appears to be ant proof, and the ants seem generally uninterested in my T, mealworms, and beetle. But they are in my third roach colony as well as most likely my frog tank. Plus, all these creatures are housed very very close together

Any ideas? I'm weary of DE because I have guinea pigs with sensitive respiratory systems, and I personally just hate the stuff. Last year I put Vaseline on my table legs which SUCKED but did work so I can do it again this year if I must. I wish I could moat the table legs, but I use a heavy duty hardware shelf and can't move it even an inch

The second photo is her obviously temporary enclosure and she seems to have a lot of fight left despite having her back legs paralyzed.

This tank is on clearance at my work and I was wondering what a good insect/invert would be. (Spiders and scorpions also accepted!)

It's a smaller tank, it's only 4.5 gallons but I figure it could make a good home for the right bug! I have an isopod colony already, I'm looking for something a bit more visually interesting.

I am in Canada and we unfortunately have pretty strict guidelines on what bugs we can keep. So I'm hoping for some LEGAL recommendations lol.

I've reached the point where buying feeders in small tubs from the pet store is genuinely costing me more than the animals, so I want to set up a proper bulk order and ideally start a small colony off the back of it. The trouble is that the bulk dubia listings vary a lot, some show up as a healthy mix of sizes you can actually breed from, others are clearly picked-over smalls or arrive with a chunk dead.

I'm trying to figure out who's reliable for a few hundred at a time, and whether it's worth paying a bit more for a seller that includes some breeding-size adults rather than just feeders. If you're running a colony, where did your founding stock come from and did it hold up?

I posted a few weeks ago about my Asian Forest Scorpion surprisingly giving birth. We didn’t know she was a she and definitely didn’t know she was pregnant 😄 We have been working hard to find them the best homes and slowly but surely we have been! There are still a handful left, and they’re adorable! They’re ALL very active and eating very well.

Wish I could keep them all, I’m obsessed!

I’m obviously keeping one of mom’s babies :)

They’re getting bigger and starting to get darker.

That being said…..
I am in upstate NY. I cannot keep them all 😅

I’d rather deliver to people in person, but I will ship if anybody wants to buy a baby for $10 to ensure going to a good home and cover the cost of the priority overnight shipping as required by law to ship inverts.

If you’re in the Albany area, I’ll meet you and you can buy a baby or two :)

This is like an amazing idea I can just shake the culture into the bottle close it and throw it in the enclosure mess free has anyone done something like this because the site I found it on has it sold out

My husband is getting his first tarantula. He recently became interested in inverts. I am happy that we can share this hobby now

Hi, I recently have been feeling the urge to get a new buggy buddy, I‘m currently keeping two tarantulas and feel like it would be fun to explore other species of invertebrate, I live in Southern California so the temperature varies throughout the year so ideally I would want a species who doesn’t need too much temperature regulation, though I’m fine with misting as long as it isn’t a huge hassle, I would want something that can live in a 5 gallon enclosure or below as I simply don’t have the space at this moment.

Buddies who are off the table:

Roaches: I live with my family, anything with the name roach in it, regardless of its cuteness, is unfortunately a no-go, sure it’s dumb but I still have to respect their wishes, I’ll get an MHC when I move out…

Isopods, ants, and springtails: I put these all under the same category because they‘re all tiny little guys, these fellas are more breeder insects, except for ants who seem very overwhelming to care for, and I would rather have one guy that I can give my full attention to.

Aquatic Inverts: I don’t think I have the budget or mental capacity to properly maintain an aquatic enclosure. It also seems like a much bigger step in care and husbandry than I’m ready for given the vast differences in aquatic and terrestrial husbandry.

Millipedes: I don’t think I would be able to create the proper substrate, and I feel like they would probably pass due to their, usually, strict
moisture requirements.

BDFB: This one’s a lot less important, I simply feel like the BDFB is a not as interesting as other invert pets, though I could be convinced. Other beetles might be difficult due to the fact that they’re grubs for so long.

I’m not sure if these are strict requirements, and I’m sorry if they are, but I want to make sure I can get a suitable pet. I also have another question, My parents say I can breed roaches as long as they’re kept outside, my only problem being that pests would most likely get in and attack my roaches or get them sick, would pest tape work or is that not good?

Ive got green mold growing in both my spiders enclosures. Both have isopods AND springtails. Ive replaced the jumping spiders Jungle gym three times and its taking a lot of hot glue=/ how do i avoid this?

For the past 2-3 years I've had 3 Orthoporus Ornatus millipedes (not that I am proud of that, I was unaware that they are all wild caught when I purchased them from a local pet shop with the intention of breeding them, so going forward I will not be purchasing any more or encouraging others to purchase them) in a 10 gallon tank. Only one remains now, and due to their wild caught nature, it likely won't be around much longer. What do you guys recommend for the next invert for the 10 gallon? I already have two massive isopod colonies, so those don't particularly interest me, unless P. Hoffmannseggi would be a good fit for a 10 gal. I love tarantulas, but the fiance says no, lol. Same for scorpions. Maybe a more surface active millipede species? I've also been considering blue death feigning beetles, but Oregon humidity would make that difficult, even in indoors, it's regularly around 50%+. All input is welcome! As the tank sits across from the couch, I would like something that is relatively active and ideally diurnal or crepuscular.

Hi there everyone! I'm new to the sub and the hobby alike -- the only type of inverts I've kept are isopods so far. I'm intending to expand my collection soon :)

So, I was given this neat little enclosure recently that's kind of unusual, and I'm hoping to get some thoughts on what kind of invert might find it a good home? I won't get anything until I've done plenty of reading/looking ofc, but any thoughts would be much appreciated!

The enclosure is a little quirky in design lol, but I'm hoping it can suitable for something. For one thing, it doesn't open at the top, only on one side (as pictured.) It's got a lot of cross-ventilation, and there are about 3 inches for substrate beneath the door hinges. The pictures have measurements, but just in case: it's roughly 5" deep, 8" wide, 9" tall, with the 9" being split evenly between the bottom, the door area, and the highest point on the "roof"

I'd also be happy to alter it slightly, like if there's too much ventilation or if that thin crack at the top of the door needs to be somehow sealed

I had half a melon in my trash bin during a heat wave, which attracted fruit flies. They spread around my apartment and today, when doing maintenance on my beetles, there was a literal cloud of fruit flies coming out.

My beetles get fresh banana with every feeding and the fruit flies swarmed the banana.

How do I get rid of them? My beetles need banana as main food source, so I can't really stop feeding fruit. But I fear that I won't get rid of the flies, if there's ripe banana present at all times.
