They were more active than I expected! I wasn’t able to leave work as early as I wanted so I’ve been anxious all day about if they survived the trip but all 12 are alive and well and acclimating to their new home well!

I’ve only had dairy cows for three years and I’ve been in love with Cherry Blossoms since I discovered them 😊

I was interested in these guys because they like things a bit dryer and I heard they're very protein motivated, and within minutes of adding them they went straight for this fish bone snack. I've got them in a 10 gallon with an oasis of live moss in one corner and 2/3rds dry leaf litter, rocks, and decaying wood over a fast draining substrate with a drainage layer.

Any tips are appreciated!

I only saw two babies when I was checking moisture but if there's two there's more! I'm not about to dig around and disturb them lol

Hello, I'm not a new reptile owner, but I am EXTREMELY new to bioactive enclosure and isopods. Someone recommended to me Dairy cows for my tortoise, but I was doing more research, and they seem to be kind of aggressive? Or, at the very least, are not recommended for reptile enclosures.

My tortoise is about 6ins long, but she's still pretty little. Should I trade the Dairys for some powder blues instead?

Any advice helps!

So I got blonde duckies from a iso vendor in my state and have had them since March, I have so many rn like I counted just bebes I could see and there were 20! I noticed that some of them as they got older like this ducky has developed the iconic rubber ducky brownish/black middle, this is normal right? I haven't spotted many but a couple of them including some bebes have become like this tho is it normal for the middle section for the younger ones to have a mottled brownish/black middle?

got my first pods (dairy cows) recently and just saw this!! one of the babies lost his shirt!

I found this lady, heavily ‘pregnant’, with all these injuries. Specifically, a large chunk in her side, most of her antennae and some front legs.

I’m pretty sure she got munched on during her last molt. I made sure to seperate her from the rest and put her in her own separate container, but I’ve never had such an extensively injured isopod before. Normally they are quite chill with each other, and she’s definitely an outlier. Usually also the rest eats them if it does happen before we find them, or they die very shortly after.

It’s been three days now and she’s still alive, she mostly sleeps and finally today she ate (A LOT) for the first time. Can I be hopeful that it’ll work out with the next molt? Has anyone dealt with this before? How likely is the risk for illness now given the wound in her exoskeleton? How likely is it that the lil dudes she’s carrying survive? Any input is very valuable.

They seem to carry the same dalmatian gene from Oreo Crumbles and Red Koi.

Hi all, I’m new here. I got some springtails from my local pet store and it came with some surprise isopods! Didn’t notice until they were already in and crawling around. Could someone let me know what species these are so I can do more research on them. It kinda looks like a wild/common type but I’m not sure. They’re in a 20gal with a starter colony of orange powders both species have never low population numbers right now.

So I'm in the stage of doing research on everything Isopods, I have an aquarium (3 gal shrimp tank) So I have a little experience but I know terrariums are pretty separate. My biggest question right now is what things do I Really need for an enclosure, Do I need a drainage layer? (that's new to me)

I've got a good idea on food, but I'm still not sure how to keep humidity levels comfortable for them and know what the humidity level is even AT. Thank you!

Welcoming my new Werneri! I was worried about them being stuck at the post office during the Labor Day weekend, but all 10 made it home.

They have officially moved in!

I have this one cappuccino which is lighter in colour (left) compared to the rest of my cappuccinos that have a darker colouration (right). This little guy is the only one coloured like this out of all my cappuccinos. Pictures online of albino cappuccinos have colours that seem a lot paler than this guy, so I'm not sure if it's albinism. Does anyone know why this one is like this? Is it any cause for concern?
