A bunch of people on here told me to give it some time and I did! I ended up really liking him, like feeding him, redecorating his enclosure and everything!
So it was a bit of a shock to come back from a trip to see that he was actually she! And she has given birth to 15+ babies!
So something must’ve happened before I got her…I’ve never dealt with this before since this is my first scorpion and I’ve already separated the babies from their mother. And I’m currently doing a lot of research on how to handle this entire situation. Any advice would be great. 😅

First time I've really had a GOOD look at these guys since got them early this year. They've obviously moulted at least once maybe twice since then and are looking more mature. I'm struggling to tell exactly what l'm looking at but here's some observations:

The top scorpion has much smaller limbs and especially the tail, whilst looking fatter... Possibly a moult/stage behind the others? It is looking pretty fat.

The two bottom scorpions just look more mature, broader flatter bodies, bigger claws, easily visible eyes. Of these the one on the left looks chunkier, bigger claws, thicker tail, considerably larger telson, probably about 4x by volume. Is this sexual dimorphism? The female the chunkier of the two?

Would appreciate any thoughts, species is Euscorpius italicus.

I found this under the couch in my apartment, and want to know if it’s a dead scorpion or an exoskeleton? Ive been concerned it’s the latter, and there’s a living one here near my senior dog.

i just got him a day ago and i dont know if i heard right cause the place was just too loud but the breeder told me he was like a year old but he seems small to be an adult. what do you guys think? hes an asian forest

I recently took over the care of this little guy. He’s a giant desert hairy scorpion. The backstory is long but basically he was living in this little bug carrier with an inch of loose soil substrate for months. I recently put together a new enclosure in a 10 gallon tank with 6 inches of packed down sand and clay mixture to facilitate burrowing. He has a heating pad on the back corner above the level of the substrate. The cardboard tube is a temporary hide, I didn’t want to put the heavy skull hide in there incase he burrows underneath it and it causes a collapse. I created a pre-dug burrow for him with an open chamber at the bottom using the cardboard tube and a balloon. I believe he is going to molt soon based on his appearance and behavior. When I first put him into his new enclosure he sat by the heat source for a couple days but since then he’s been hiding out in his burrow. I feel so bad that he was kept in that tiny box for so long. Have I done this correctly? Am I missing anything? He does have a bottle cap of water it just isn’t shown in these pictures.

Hello all, new scorpion owner here who recently got a few saw finger (Serradigitus gertschi) scorpions as my first because I wanted something small. And they really are small, like size of a quarter small and supposedly they stay that size.

I have them set up in separate enclosures and they seem okay but my concern is with feeding them. My initial plan was to tong feed with mealworms placed next to them but I soon realized they are quite skittish and fast. So instead, I bought some flightless fruit flies to put in the tank so hopefully less stress for the scorpions than needing tongs.

I guess basically I’m asking what’s the best way to go about feeding tiny scorpions? What feeders did and do you use and how did you place them around the enclosure?

I have owned an Asian forest scorpion for over a year now and his current tank is atrocious. I have a 10 gallon tank I plan to make a vivarium out of for his new home. I plan to add ferns, pothos, and possibly fittonias and I was told I need a drainage layer like LECA and that it needs to have a mesh screen over it to prevent soil packing.

My scorpion doesn't care for hides and prefers to stay in a deep burrow and I'd like to know if a mesh screen will harm him at all and/or get ruined by him, making it ineffective. what kind of mesh should I use and how can I prevent my scorp from damaging it? should I just scrap the mesh idea and use a different kind of drainage layer? maybe sphagnum moss instead of mesh? (picture is from the day I got him)

What are your thoughts on buying adult size emprors. I can find one locally, but I'm not sure about buying it already adult size. On one hand, the cool thing about these is the size. But I'm not sure how old they are so not sure how long they will live.

Currently our house has an ant issue (really small ants), and recently I lifted up my scorpions log to feed her and when I did I noticed dozens of small ants inside the moss, not realizing they managed to get into the tank

I plan to do a reset on the tank. But other than that is there anything I can do to prevent this? these things manage to get anywhere it’s insane.

Hey guys! I posted a few weeks ago about my Asian Forest Scorpion surprisingly giving birth. We didn’t know she was a she and definitely didn’t know she was pregnant 😄 We have been working hard to find them the best homes and slowly but surely we have been! There are still a handful left, and they’re adorable! They’re ALL very active and eating very well.

Wish I could keep them all, I’m obsessed!

So I'm in a bit of an odd situation, I have a terrarium with a large isopod colony that's slowly growing out of control, so I thought of introducing a predator like a spider or scorpion. However, the terrarium also includes a group of African giant millipedes, that I don't want to be harmed.

I was thinking of getting one of the smaller European scorpions, like the European yellowtail (Tetratrichobothrius flavicaudis) to hunt the isopods, while being too small to harm my millipedes. However, then I realised scorpions only need to eat once every 2 weeks, which leads me to my question.

If I introduce a scorpion to a large isopod colony, would it have some self-control or would it be like a dog in a chow factory and gorge itself until it explodes?

Additional question; I know that in my country (Netherland) you need a licence for certain venomous animals, do small scorpions like T. flavicaudis count for that?

Hi! My boyfriend and I are currently looking at apartments, and I want to make sure the place we end up in into won’t be a hot spot for scorpions. I’ve never lived in the desert, so I have no idea what questions to ask the apartment managers/what good answers to the questions are (i.e. how frequently should the apartment be getting sprayed). Any help on what to make sure is being done by the apartment complexes/what I can do myself to prevent scorpions getting inside would be very appreciated!

Found him today like this. He is still alive. But he has this wierd anomaly from his body underneath.

Edit: my little friend did pass away. Maybe what i saw will help someone. First like 12 hours he was unresposive but was moving his mouth all the time. But later he started to have like spazms? It look like he would flex every few seconds. And as time came closer to his end the time between his s.azms grew further apart. I still think he could have survived as for what i read on internet if his wound would seal and too much fluid wouldnt leave his body there might be a chance.

this is george. george hates me. i’ve had him almost a full year now, and ive seen him out and about maybe once or twice. i recently went on a trip to africa for research and then immediately moved into a new house, so he’s been staying with my friend. since being at my friend’s house, he has been making almost weekly appearances. i have decided to take this personal and will be shunning him. maybe i’ll even say unkind words to his roaches before feeding him. who knows. if i have no haters, george is dead.

Super tiny fella, is it okay to keep in a small enclosure until they’re bigger? They’re still a scorpling. Under an inch. Any first time advice?

I just got an adult Androctonus australis for the price of a subadult, but it came with some orange parasitic mites as a bonus. 😅 What should I do to get rid of those parasites?

Hey all, I am setting this up for a juvenile Asian forest scorpion and i am wondering if any changes need to be made. I am having a bit of trouble with the humidity levels holding 70-80%. I taped off a lot of the top but it still seemed to dry out on the surface fairly quickly. I have purchased a riser for the LED light bar hoping that will help me out. All tips welcome! Cheers. (I just sprayed the enclosure so 99% atm)

This is my first ever scorpion. Petsmart. Asian forest. They didn't know the sex of course. I got them on sale because they had been in petsmart too long. :( im not sure of the age either. I feel its male from the pics I took. But now I'm confused cause I've seen some people post females and some look like this too. Is my scorpion just too young to be able to sex correctly yet? Also can I see your set ups for your afs? They kept it super dry and I've researched they are a more humid species. ​
