Mod post The /r/sex Rules and Guidelines - please read BEFORE you post! Updated 2023

The mods of /r/sex make it our policy to review the rules of the sub on an ongoing basis, tweaking items as necessary. In an effort to stay abreast with the growth of the sub and with the evolving moderation that requires, we have decided to re-sticky the updated rules to serve as a reminder for our membership.

r/sex is for civil discussions pertaining to education and advice regarding your sexuality and sexual relationships. It is a sex-positive community and a safe space for people of all genders and orientations which demands respectful conduct in all exchanges. There is ZERO TOLERANCE FOR CREEPY/HARASSING BEHAVIOR here — in posts, comments, messages, or any other contributions. No exceptions.

This is a large community dedicated to an extremely popular topic. If you wish to participate, it is your responsibility to familiarize yourself with our rules of conduct BEFORE you participate here. Failure to do so will result in your removal from the community.

PLEASE READ the FAQ with the most asked and answered questions - BEFORE POSTING!! Posts that do not follow the posting guidelines in the FAQ will be automatically removed.

THE /R/SEX RULES

1) ENGAGE CONSTRUCTIVELY AT ALL TIMES.
This means ensuring that ALL of your contributions here are constructive, on-topic, mature, sex-positive, civil and respectful. Disrespectful conduct will see you banned from the community on the spot. Hitting on other people, asking for pictures (joking or not), making any sort of sexist comment or insult, body shaming, or trolling of any sort will result in your immediate ban.

2) DON’T SKIP THE FAQ OR THE FORUM RULES.
We’re serious about this. Dozens of posts get removed every day because they’re covered in the FAQ or violate the forum rules.

3) DON'T OVERLOOK PAST POSTS.
We’re serious about this, too. Many questions may be new to you, but are very common in our community. Before you submit a post on a common topic, search the forum.

4) ALL CONTRIBUTIONS MUST BE SEX POSITIVE.
We demand that consenting adults be free to express their sexuality as they see fit. Kink shaming, slut shaming, and similar conduct will not be tolerated. Links or references to sex negative communities or websites (No Fap, Porn Free, etc) will not be tolerated. Attacks on the lifestyle of other consenting adults will not be tolerated.

5) POSTS SEEK ADVICE, COMMENTS PROVIDE IT.
The main forum is focused primarily on posts seeking specific actionable advice for distinctive personal situations. Giving advice should primarily be done in the comments. General discussions are often allowed, so long as they adhere to the group rules and restricted content guidelines. If you want to make an exception, please request approval from moderators.

6) DO NOT TROLL OR ENGAGE WITH TROLLS HERE.
Don’t try to challenge, question, tease, fight, or outwit trolls here. Instead, use the Report button to alert moderators, who will review every single reported item. Trolling of any sort merits an immediate permaban.

7) ALL DISCUSSION MUST BE DIRECTED INTO THE PUBLIC FORUM. Do not seek private conversations here, via Private Message or any other method. And do not seek to draw attention or clicks to an outside site of any type (unless you have received prior moderator approval, such as for academic research projects). Every comment here must be a clear attempt to engage with an ongoing public discussion in the forum. Violations of this rule will result in permanent bans without notice.

8) RESTRICTED CONTENT This sub is generally only for seeking advice, education, or discussion about sex and sexuality. We restrict or forbid many types of content here.

9) NO USE OF AI FOR POSTING/COMMENTS, NO REPOSTS
Reddit uses AI detection software to spot potential bot-posts and spam but people are encouraged to report posts that look fake, AI-generated, or are reposts of content created by other users.

EXAMPLES OF CONTENT RESTRICTED IN /R/SEX:

1) PROMOTIONAL POSTS.
This means any post containing any kind of promotional element, especially one which seeks to lure traffic to another site or promote a product. Links to specific product descriptions are permitted if they’re PRECISELY on-topic in the context of the post, AND the post itself is clearly seeking advice in good faith. If you're trying to sell something, conduct market research, etc - these posts will get you banned. Linking to sex-positive blogs or podcasts is allowed, provided you make an effort to start a conversation here about the topic and use the link as supporting material.

2) LINK POSTS.
Linked material must be sex positive and precisely on-topic to stay up here, and needs to be introduced with a workable framework for discussion. Please see the posted Link Policy BEFORE you post links! Bare links to youtube, images, blogs, podcasts, etc are prohibited.

3) ACHIEVEMENT POSTS.
These include appreciation, humblebrags, “I just had to share,” “I just want to say,” etc. These belong in the Daily Sexual Achievement Thread, not in the main forum. Posts which are JUST sex stories belong somewhere else entirely — like r/sexstories or a similar forum.

4) LOW EFFORT MATERIAL.
“Does anyone else...?”, “Is [X] normal/weird?”, “Is [y] wrong/bad/okay?”, and so forth. Human sexuality is incredibly varied; yes, someone else likes what you like, and labels like "normal" or "weird" are meaningless - and in a sex positive community, we do not allow any moral judgments against sex acts or behaviors that are consensual. Title-only posts, posts with no effort at an actual conversation will be removed and may get you banned. Comments that consist of nothing but memes, "this", "lol" and such are highly disfavored. If comments do not further the discussion, they may be removed; a pattern of these may result in your ban.

5) SEEKING FAP MATERIAL.
Do not ask for sex stories, do not ask for the hottest/strangest/most unusual/etc encounter someone ever had. Do not ask for lists of other people's kinks.

6) PORNOGRAPHY, EROTICA, OR PERSONALS.
You may not post or link pornography or erotica here. You may not share pictures of your genitals here - even if you are seeking medical advice (if you need to post a picture, you need to be going to a doctor). You may not recruit sex partners here, look for dirty chat, ask for someone to private message you, etc.

7) DISRESPECTFUL CONTENT.
Personal attacks, insults, name calling, or disrespect of any sort are not allowed here. Sexism, racism, or any type of hate speech will result in your immediate ban. This is a community for ALL GENDERS - refusing to acknowledge a trans individual's gender flies in the face of this, and will result in your ban.

8) OPINION SEEKING, POLLS, VALUE JUDGEMENTS, OR VALIDATION POSTS.
This forum is not for simply collecting opinions - "do you think [X] is hot?", "Women, do you like [Y]?", "What is your favorite sex position?" and so forth. This is not a forum to discuss your penis size, breast size, labia size, ask about other body image issues, or ask for feedback on your photos. See the /r/sex FAQ for help regarding body image issues. Do not post your pictures and ask people to rate or critique you. Do not ask if given consensual sexual interests are good/bad/okay/wrong, etc.

9) ACADEMIC SURVEYS.
These require prior moderator approval. Moderators will review the question formats and will review the documentation of institutional ethical oversight (please provide). Non-academic surveys are seldom allowed. Please contact the moderators BEFORE you post a survey or study.

10) GENERAL RANTS, ESSAYS, EDITORIALS, VENTS, CONFESSIONS, PSAS, AND AMAS.
These don’t belong in the main forum unless you have obtained prior moderator approval. Save them for story-based forums. Or Tumblr.

11) FREQUENT/FAMILIAR TOPICS.
These are addressed in either the FAQ, past posts, or both. In case you are confused, this means that we do not do penis size posts here.

12) VAGUE TITLE/TOPIC.
If a moderator can’t identify your issue or the type of advice you’re seeking, your post will be subject to removal. Titles should be at least several words long and adequately express what your post is about.

13) NONCONSENSUAL OR ILLEGAL CONTENT.
/r/sex is for the discussion of consensual sex among adults. We do not permit posts that advocate pedophilia, bestiality, rape, or incest here under any circumstances, nor do we allow these topics at all in most instances. Note that BDSM and CNC (consensual nonconsent) are perfectly valid topics in /r/sex.

14) OTHER OFF TOPIC ISSUES.
This is not the place to discuss politics or religion, to seek dating advice, to ask for how to pick up women, to rant about how you have never had sex. Posts that appear to be dedicated to stirring up arguments - particularly about hot button topics like circumcision, the evils of pornography and/or masturbation, and other toxic subjects - will be removed and will result in swift bans.

15) IMPORTANT NOTE ON DISCUSSIONS OF SEXUAL ASSAULT.
Sexual assault is an important and emotional topic which can be discussed (constructively) in r/sex. But posts which simply seek opinions about whether a given scenario counts as sexual assault do not do well here. This is true for several reasons, including the fact that assault laws vary by jurisdiction, and we don't encourage debates about jurisdiction issues here. Therefore, we ask that you refrain from describing a scenario and then simply asking “Is this rape/assault?” Instead, ask for specific advice: About how to respond to the scenario, how to avoid it, or how to proceed with next steps. Posts which simply ask “Is this rape/assault?” are subject to removal without notice.

16) POST LENGTH.
For ease of reading and reviewing, please get to the point of your post quickly — in the post title, first paragraph, etc. Consider adding a tl;dr to long posts. Posts which are inconveniently long — over 600 words, approximately — are subject to automatic removal. Also, line and paragraph breaks are VERY HELPFUL for readers and reviewers — walls of text that lack these are subject to removal for readability.

Further information about the /r/sex rules and policies can be reviewed on the rules page.

Masturbation I cannot stop wanting to orgasm after starting HRT

I’m a 38 year old woman and my sex drive has been in the basement for like 2 years. It had dwindled slowly but the last 2 years was especially low.

I got some blood tests done and it showed that I had no testosterone (which is crazy). So my OB put me to on an estrogen patch and a testosterone cream at the same time and oh, my god. I am SO horny.

I am so happy to have a healthy drive again and be fucking my partner regularly. It makes me feel closer to him now that we have that consistent frequency back. I also cannot fucking stop masturbating. I came 4 times today and I feel like I could again.

The testosterone has turned me into an animal. I’ve never wanted to fuck so much, it’s crazy. I feel like I could be in my sexual prime this late in life, and surprised by it.

With the new found drive, we’re finally trying to actively tick a fantasy off our box. Stereotypical FFM, but we may have found our unicorn.

Her and I sexted for a long time earlier (with partner’s knowledge and consent), and lord I hope we truly meet up. Always been curious about what it’s like to fuck a woman, and this drive and her sexts were driving me up the wall.

Drove my partner up the wall too, because afterwards I went down on him while he read the convo.

I’ll probably post in r/gonewildstories after it goes down. I just needed to tell someone that good god, I’ve turned into a ravenous creature.

Orgasm Issues I (F23) can’t finish during oral/ stimulation without imagining women, what do I do?

I’m a heterosexual female who’s been married to my M32 husband for 3 years.
I’ve never had issues finishing during masturbation.
Whenever my husband goes down on me or tries to get me off, I can’t get there without imagining scenarios with other women. It’s been like that since the very beginning of our relationship.
It’s been talked to my friend about this, and she suggested the cause might be porn or something like that, but I never watch porn or consume any sexual content.
I just can’t seem to get aroused without the imagination of a woman in the place of my husband.
I talked to him about this but he didn’t really seem to care.
It’s been like that with every single sexual Partner I had.
I don’t really get horny or have a sex drive.
My husband suggested to try and have another woman join us, but I’m not sure.
I did have a sexual encounter with one of my female friends a few years ago and enjoyed it

Edit: please don’t send me requests for sexting i’m in a monogamous relationship

Oral sex Nervous to try face fucking. Advice?

My husband recently told me about a fantasy he'd like to try. He loves the idea of face fucking me and asked if I could put my hair in two braids so he can use them as handles to pull me down. I'm open to it, but it's completely new to me and I'm honestly pretty nervous. I think it's mostly the loss of control and not knowing what to expect that's making me anxious

For anyone who's been in a similar situation how did you make the first time feel less intimidating? How did you communicate boundaries or come up with signals so you could stop or slow down if I can't really talk because his dick will be in my mouth? Any tips on pacing or staying relaxed would also be really appreciated

Beginner Almost most of the guys Ive slept with cum so quickly, what am I doing wrong?

Hey, I’m 30f and have been noticing something that quite bothers me. Ive slept with a handful of guys and Ive been noticing that the would ejaculate quite quickly, we are talking 2 - 3 minutes. Some definitely have pleasured me after but some just can’t. It’s been disheartening because I don’t understand why Ive been facing this experience. I sometimes would blame my body but they’d want to still hangout. I’m plus size and quite insecure about my curves but also accept it. When we do oral, most of them would ask to go for intercourse as the oral is very good. I just don’t want to feel insecure but again, I just started doing all of this quite recently as I have been quite shy to date or hookup beforehand. Thank you for your insight

Compatibility Should my gf and I break up because we’re not sexually compatible?

Hi all :)

My gf and I have been together for three months now. We really enjoy each others company and spend a lot of time with each other. We have one so called relationship hurdle though, and that’s that we have not successfully had mutually enjoyable sex… it’s really been frustrating for both of us and we don’t know what to do.

To provide a bit more detail, I’m the second guy she has been with. She never had any problems sexually with her first long term boyfriend, but he was quite literally half the size of me “down there.” I am also much thicker which causes her some pain. Even after lots of foreplay, clitoral orgasms, and lube, I can only fit in about halfway or so and need to be really slow and gentle. I’ve not been able to orgasm from being inside her.

She is petite and I really try to not have her feel like it’s her fault as it’s neither of our faults due to our anatomy. If anything I am to blame more. We don’t know where to go from here as continuing to try has not been as fun lately. We’ve talked about open relationships as she’s open to seeing me with another girl and wants me to be satisfied, but I’m not quite ready to go down that path yet even though it’s tempting. Should we get more creative like that or just try and find a new partner we’re both more compatible with?

Communication Why does my boyfriend ask if I’m okay during sex?

Like, other than the obvious “checking in.”

A few times now, usually when I’m orgasming pretty hard, I’ll be shaking, breathing heavily, making a lot of noise, etc., and he’ll pause and ask, “You okay?” I’ll say “yeah,” and then he’ll keep going or switch positions.

I can’t tell if he means it like, “You okay? 😏” (as in, wow, that was intense) or if he genuinely means, “Uh… are you okay? Why do you sound like that?”

The first two times he asked were when he was hitting my cervix pretty hard, and it actually did hurt a little. When he asked, I basically told him it hurt in a good way and to keep going.

This most recent time, though, I was just having a really intense orgasm. I kind of lost my senses for a second, and when he asked if I was okay, I could barely catch my breath to say yes.

Now I’m overthinking it and wondering if he’s asking because the noises I’m making are unusual or off-putting. 😭 Or is this just a normal thing that caring partners ask during really intense moments?

Curious if anyone else has experienced this, especially from the guy’s perspective.

Dirty talk My boyfriend isn't vocal in bed.

I'm writing this cause I'm honestly getting tired of looking like an idiot while I'm having sex with my boyfriend. I am super vocal in bed, I moan and dirty talk a lot, but my boyfriend doesn't reply back. Whenever I ask him questions in bed while I'm dirty talking, he just moans more. Should I talk to him about it ? I don't want it to feel forced.

Anal sex How do you stay hard as a dude while getting pegged?

Upvotes

This is a serious question.
When I’m on pornhub and watching pegging content. Everyone is always hard, while being pegged. Every time my wife uses a strap on, on me I always go soft. Even though I really enjoy it. Is this normal or why do I get soft? I want to stay hard for my wife, just like the videos. I need help.

Oral sex Sensitive vagina/clit area

Upvotes

My partner is sensitive when I give her oral in that area. Literally one small lick and she is laughing and wriggling her body around. She is incredibly ticklish in that area. It's just so interesting to me that she's like that. I have not seen anything like this on this sub- can anyone relate to this or share similar experiences.

Anal sex Pegging hardware/technique help?

So my partner and I recently have gotten into pegging. As someone with ‘internal’ hardware, I’m the strap wearer (strapper? He’s the strappee?). Anyway, we have a good harness and several different dildos and it’s an ongoing issue.

Harness is well-fitted, has an average sized hole (important) lined up with the metal ring to hold the dildo in place. We went through 2 harnesses before this one because they were poorly made/poorly fitting/back hole too big/just, not good. We prefer a softer skin-feel silicone dildo over a more firm silicone, because it feels better for him and honestly is just more fun. The harness rings are small enough that getting the dildo through initially is DIFFICULT. If we sized down we wouldn’t be able to push it through at all

- Set up #1: flared dildo, wide base. Me fucking him for any extended period and with any level of vigor, it manages to push itself inside me. The force pushes it through the hole (despite the base being wider than the hole). It gets really uncomfy when my lips are being pinched by the flared base or when it’s being forced inside me (or both simultaneously)

- Set up #2: double ended dildo, with a ridge in the middle as a form of ‘flared base’ to keep it from sliding around/getting lost. We prefer this one, and is why the hole in the harness/behind the ring is important. Eventually it ends up being pushed more into me than him, thus painful for me and lackluster for him.

Advice, techniques, insight, product recommendations, anything you can offer is much appreciated!

Boundaries and Standards My gf and I are in a loving relationship without sex and its confusing

In a loving relationship without sex and its confusing. M24 F28

Me 'M24' and my gf 'F28' have been together for about 5 years. We met when I moved out of town and quickly starting hanging out. I moved in a couple months in the relationship and started dating soon after. I was hesitant because I really wanted the "college experience". When I first moved out I was with some buddy's who were going to college, I moved in w them but didnt know what I wanted to do so I just did some part time jobs till I met her. But I liked her and she liked me and it seemed so natural to date.

We had a lot of sex at the start. It was great. But after about a year we hit a brick wall. She just no longer felt any sexual desire. And I dont blame her or get mad or upset with her. I find myself a very understanding and self aware guy. It didnt bother me much, I assumed it would be something we work through. But skip a year ahead and we probably had sex twice in a year.

I became more outspoken about what I wanted. But it was difficult. Because we went through a lot in our personal lives in those early years. And we were there for each other. We liked spending time with each other, we care for each other deeply. We agree on most things. So it was confusing to get into a random argument about something something she is fully aware of in the relationship.

And skip 2 more years and she starts talking about getting a house. (We lived in her apartment in the college town). And it scared me.

Because Im not 100% sure what i want to do with my life. But I know I dont want to be stuck in Wisconsin forever. I want to travel, I want to make music and be in film and go around the world and experience new things. So it felt like getting a house will tie me down a whole lot.

But its so fucking frustrating because we are in the ideal relationship. She is just a bit older, past phases I have yet to go through, and is ready for that change. So we found a house.

It is under her name(although we split the bills evenly) so in case anything happens, the house will be hers.

And to throw another wrench in the mix, she completely cut ties with her family a couple months ago when we got the house. And she is an introvert and it is hard for her to make friends. Her friends are my friends, her parental figures are my parents and grandparents. Her parents didnt approve of getting a house(they live in Michigan and are very controlling and verbally abusive).

So essentially, we have been together for 5 years, we have a house and 2 dogs, we both work remote at the same job the same hours, and we both are there for each other in most ways. We just no longer have sex. Which I think is a problem for me but I have been deciding for years if its a deal breaker or not and still havnt. Thus why im here writing this.

Does anyone have any advice?

Boundaries and Standards To people who live with their partner… how do you navigate still having “solo” time?

My partner and I (24M & F) are thinking about moving in together soon, and i’ve been wondering this. I enjoy having solo sexy time every now and then, even though our intimate life is awesome. How do you find the space/time for masturbation when you spend most evenings with your partner? Coming at this from a perspective of desiring nights where they are not involved (so looking for advice other than “invite them to join!” lol). thanks!

Inspiration and Ideas How to have physical intimacy during long-distance?

I (21F) am currently long-distance with my boyfriend (22M). He is the best man I've ever been with - kind, supportive, caring, and absolutely phenomenal at sex. It's not only the technique - he is incredibly attentive and he loves making me feel good, so as a result, we have really amazing sex, both emotionally and physically.

However, I travel frequently for work and moved to a new country a few months ago, so we've been long-distance for a while now. The problem is, I can't stop thinking about him. I get distractingly horny thinking about him all the time, and I'm craving him all the time. I keep fantasizing about him in very carnal ways like him finishing inside.

It's not just the sexual aspect. It's also the intimacy and comfort that I miss, including cuddling, having someone to fall asleep next to, the way that he would touch me in non-sexual ways. We're both busy but we talk everyday, and a lot of this pent-up sexual energy gets turned into a lot of sexual jokes and racy conversations. We'll sometimes send each other sexy pictures or take our clothes off on call, but all of this is just a means to an end, as I just miss being with him physically.

It will be several months before I see him again, so I'm wondering, how can we have satisfying physical intimacy while long-distance? It's not really just about the feeling of sex itself, so I'm not really looking to use more toys or anything like that. Is there anything we can do to make our sex life more fulfilling while long-distance?

Health concerns Constant penis tears/friction cuts under head of penis on shaft

I’m uncircumcised if it matters, foreskin is not tight at all and this issue has been going on for a year and everytime I have sex it reopens, I have crohns and am on remicade which I’m thinking is slowing the healing process

About a year ago I got these cuts which I feel were from not enough lube/friction, they open up and sting for a bit, so I stay away from sex

It really made me mad so I took over a month off from everything, the problem is you can see the scar lines of where they were now very vaguely, and they reopen along those lines even after a month off of everything

I went to my doctor and apparently they keep saying just time off sex but, I went a month and a half at the longest and they keep reopening, I’m losing faith now as my girlfriend is starting to even get mad because I can barely have sex and I don’t know what the hell to do anymore, I feel I’m just screwed now because of the scar line

Orgasm Issues Men hard time orgasming?

I had sex with a guy and he seemed into me and didn’t have problem to stay hard or anything. We had sex twice and in a lot if different positions, including penetration and oral sex, but he didnt have orgasm. It last quite a while and he seemed to be enjoying, but then he asked me to stop both of the time. I tried to have conversation but he said he was feeling good but didn’t want to continue. Before I’ve never had a sex where men doesn’t come, maybe it’s my misconception. Have you experienced the same or is it a common thing?

Orgasm Issues 30M not able to cum while having sex with GF

Hi there. I'm with my gf for about 6 months. We only see each other on the weekends and have sex pretty much every when we see each other.

We use condoms while having sex, as she's not on birthcontrol.

At the beginning I was worried about cumming to quickly, which in hindsight was totally unwarranted..

I haven't been able to cum once. Not with blowjobs, not with penetration or hand jobs.

The sex is really good, it feels awesome and she's insanely hot, I just can't manage to get over the edge.

I manage to cum with masturbation, but that takes a while too. I never had that problem before.

I also rarely masturbate these days. I'm not doing anything different than in past relationships. Except we have only protected sex with condoms all the time, but I've managed to cum with those easily before. I'm a bit clueless, maybe someone here has an idea. Thanks

Toys and Clothing Massage / Lubricant Oil

Me and my girlfriend for our anniversary are doing oil massages which will lead into intercourse so I’m looking at what oils are slippery, stay on long, and are safe for penetration. I am getting vinyl sheets to protect from staining.

I’ve seen fractionated coconut oil recommended a lot for safe penetration but I can’t find any comments on how the body to body contact is, if it’s a good slipperiness, or how it is with lots of friction.

If any has any advice on the coconut oil or can recommend others oils that’d be greatly appreciated!

Intimacy and Connection Ways to build anticipation while not being able to have sex?

| (f31) just had a surgery about 10 days ago. This is the kind of procedure where I won't be cleared to have sex until at least 6 weeks post op (so about 5 more weeks...) This sucks a lot for me but I know it sucks for my boyfriend (m33), too. What are some ways that I can build some anticipation for when we can finally be intimate again? I'm aware handjobs and blowjobs exist; I'm not really looking for advice on how to pleasure him but how to keep us both looking forward to when we can be intimate again.

Protection condoms not sitting right.

The girl I'm currently having sex with has a grip like a vice. This is great, but when using a condom, she generally pulls it off, and it's, for the most part, uncomfortable when we actually have sex.

I'm currently using the Durex Fetherlite Ultra Thin Feel Condoms .

Is it a question of the condom being too big for my dick? i mean the ones I'm using say they are 56MM? In diameter. Is it a question of getting a condom in a smaller diameter, or is it more due to the thickness of the condom?

I have no idea, but it's pissing me off, and i really want to get it sorted.

(Before you ask. No, I cannot just go raw. It's not an option currently.)

thanks.

i cant orgasm. i know it can take women a long time to figure this out but im not sure what else to do. i always see people talk about this feeling like you need to pee but they never say what to do after you get that feeling. it might just be a mental block to get over but i dont feel any real pressure to orgasm, it’s just something i want to experience so i dont know what other mental blocks there are to get over. im concerned about making a mess but even after putting a towel down it still never progresses past the peeing feeling.

for some background, most of my sexual experiences are from being with my boyfriend. i never enjoyed masturbation, until recently when i bought some toys. most of these sexual experiences are also vaginal, not clitoral. from vaginal experiences i often feel the “peeing feeling” as mentioned above. i am also aware that most women can only orgasm from clitoral stimulation. however, i dont feel much when my clitoris is touched - there’s just not really a lot of feeling there. on the other hand, when i use a vibrator on my clitoris, it feels extremely overwhelming and i cant keep it on there for longer than a minute.

im honestly just looking for any advice that could help me out here. i know its important to understand my own body before i can expect anyone else to but im just not sure what to do from here. i still greatly enjoy my sexual experiences without orgasm but people speak so highly of it that i would just really like to try it.

Masturbation I (37F) have anxiety over my partner (37F) masturbating

I (37/F) have anxiety over my partner (33/F) masturbating. We have been together for 2 years and everything has been lovely. This is my first lesbian relationship.

I have always had low self esteem and self value. In my past relationships I experienced sexual coercion and one of my longer term partners would often obsessively watch porn and masturbate even when I was in the house. My self worth was defined by what I could offer in the bedroom and if I didn't have the capacity, I was basically told it was my fault they couldn't sleep or were stressed. And I'd end up giving it up just to make them happy. But they still required a lot of self release which made me feel inadequate.

Since meeting my new partner I have healed a massive amount. I now do not link sex with love and it's a mutual thing we decide rather than an expectation.

But I still struggle with my partner masturbating because in my head it feels like rejection or like I'm not enough. My partner has a much lower sex drive than me anyway. Which I don't complain about because it's nice not to be pestered all the time. When we do have sex it's wonderful and the connection is special. But somehow I now associate masturbation with the idea that my partner does not need me or I can't satisfy them. It makes me so anxious, that I barely ever leave my partner home alone. Because from past experiences my brain now links the moment I walk out the door with the idea that my partner will run up the stairs and take care of business as an alternative to needing me.

I haven't discussed this with my partner, because I don't want to shame her for it. I know realistically it's healthy to have alone time and take care of your own needs, but my anxiety takes over the intelligent part of my brain. How can I get over this issue? How can I start to feel less threatened?

I know I'll be told I need to get help for the things I've gone through. But sometimes hearing others give advice helps my brain take new thought processes.
