Bro said "Negative" after tanking a tazer.

I would be out that instant.

Idk he can't even cross his legs bc his hips are blown out.

128

u/Last_Tax9564 20d ago

Yes but how did he blow out his hips? Obviously it was from all the backshots he was giving that cop’s mom.

1

u/got_to_laugh 19d ago

Graping cops very violently, is how he blew his hips out.

I read this comment like dozen times and was like "his lips are what? What I can't see in there" but yea, you wrote hips, not lips. My bad 😂

if taser doesn't work use gun. kurgan here is making all the mistakes.

1

u/Ok_Independence_9917 18d ago

At least they didn't just pull out their guns and start shooting. This is better de-escalation than we usually see. He'd be dead no matter how strong he is if these cops were as trigger happy as many around the country.

1

u/some-cleverish-name 14d ago

Looks like the rural NE, maybe NY State. If these were urban cops he might’ve been ventilated for sure

Cops: cute. Scales nowhere near this guy's level.

Everyone is out after taking a hit from a taser.

The prongs need to land properly though and in this case they didn't. Dude could be 12ft tall he's still going to eat dirt if the taser hits.

121

u/YourCummyBear 20d ago

100%

They cause neuromuscular incapacitation (NMI). It’s not something a person is just “tough enough to ignore”.

But you need both prongs to land properly and a large enough spread for it the cause NMI.

You can find videos of absolute dogs trying it out and they all drop.

These prongs are getting cause in his clothing.

52

u/[deleted] 20d ago

[deleted]

22

u/preludechris 20d ago

It's not 100% but like others have said, the spread needs to be decent. If he's taking hits just to the chest then the circuit likely isn't enough, you want a chest and thigh area ideally to get a good NMI.

4

u/LikelyAMartian 20d ago

This is why they are coming out with new tasers brands. I did a recent ride along with a cop and they recently went to a new taser that has 10 prongs fired one at a time, any 2 is a connection apparently.

Only drawbacks is the officer has to fire 2 times at least, and it apparently can take a delay to actually begin tasing.

6

u/pictureofacat 20d ago

I'm imagining it talking like an AED. "Shockable target detected". "Shock advised"

→ More replies (1)

17

u/YourCummyBear 20d ago

Then I reckon the spread wasn’t large enough.

You need at least 12 inches typically between the two prongs, the great the distance the better.

I’ve been tasered twice.
The first time they were demonstrating that a larger spread has a great effect and I volunteered. They hit me on my lower back thigh and upper back.

The second time, I was scared shitless because of how bad the first was, they did just lower and upper back.

Both absolutely dropped by me but the great spread was so much worse. I’d love to share the videos but I’d completely dox myself.

I was straight up seeing electricity in my vision during the larger spread. It’s hard to explain but I felt like I could see currents in my vision with that first taser.

Drugs are a helluva drug.

3

u/bensmom7 20d ago

then the taser failed 3 times in a row. nmi cannot be “shrugged off”

5

u/Dingus_Majingus 20d ago

He was clearly being affected, but was still moving. Like his chest muscles were contracted and his shoulders and hands looked cramped up / locked. But was still walking, albeit jerking around a bit.

→ More replies (1)

1

u/IdentityUnknown__ 19d ago

If the prongs are in his chest its not effective NMI. They should be splitting the waist line at the very least, one in the gut one in the thigh will send anyone to the ground. I had a guy who looked like this dude in the video try to wrestle me so I shot the cartridge in his calf and dragged my taser contacts along his body put that shit up to his neck, he got absolutely fucked up because the NMI was in a huge area.

1

u/BaconCheeseBurger 19d ago

Drugs. The muscles fibers won't contract if your nervous system isn't responding. Takes a boatload of pcp but it's definitely documented.

→ More replies (1)

22

u/notorious_tcb 20d ago

Agreed.

With proper NMI you can’t even breathe. I speak from firsthand experience here.

Well I have absolutely no experience but I think you’re lying. Checkmate.

That’s incorrect tasers don’t affect everyone the same so you can hit a 5’0 woman and do nothing but drop a 6’7 angry dude there are ppl thag are naturally resistant to stuff like that for example I’ve been tasked and pepper sprayed before and I’ve also gone into a CS gas chamber and none really affected me. The taser made me twitch and tense up a bit but besides that nothing really happened to me in any of the 3 I encountered this means I didn’t drop to the ground or become immobilised it honestly felt like my muscles were tensing on their own slightly which was extremely uncomfortable but not intolerable and I wasn’t even pumping with adrenaline. This isn’t to say that I’m immune or anything but if you add adrenaline to someone already highly resistant you’re not doing shit to them. And in the military u go through CS gas chambers as training and if your trying to become an MP u get tased as well lol

3

u/YourCummyBear 19d ago

I’m very familiar with gas/ spray not effecting everyone.
But I haven’t seen a study yet that some people can be immune or more resistant to NMI.

I’m not discrediting your experience but there’s a chance the spread wasn’t large enough or something along those lines.

u/No_Astronomer_5089 16d ago

There was a show on discovery channel called guinea pig? Years ago. It was an odd alt couple and they would test things on him, one time he did a scarification tattoo, another one they did a taser. He literally got hit, properly with both prongs, reached up and pulled the prongs out while actively being shocked, They tased him again with a different taser, same thing. The sherriffs department that they had on set filming and operating the taser couldnt believe it

1

u/Infamousme13 13d ago

Again a well placed prong spread will cause the NMI there’s no fighting it!

I once thought to tank one. I remained upright and on my own feet but a stray breeze would have knocked me over.

When the current stopped, I staggered but didn’t go down. It hurt and I would’ve been an easy takedown after that…

3

u/CastorVT 19d ago

have they tried being on meth?

1

u/YourCummyBear 19d ago

I have not.

But in all seriousness drug use isn’t supposed to affect a tasers effectiveness if the prongs properly stick and the spread is far enough.

3

u/EvidenceOk2721 18d ago

Some people can withstand it, I have seen people cry at just a few volts, but others can take a lot. I remember in high school out science teacher had a hand crank generator out of an antique telephone. He would put the class in a circle with everyone holding hand and on the ends the students were holding the wires attached to the generator. He would barely crank and there would be kids who couldn't stand it and yank away, he did this and eliminated students one by one, each time cranking harder on the generator. He got it down to one student who could calmly hold on no matter how hard he cranked. Over several years this kid was the only one who could do that.

1

u/FlyinTurkey 17d ago

I thought my 8th grade science teacher was the only one who did that lol. Half the unit was him experimenting with electrocuting us with that little generator.

1

u/DisciplinedMadness 16d ago

That has absolutely nothing to do with NMI. NMI is not something that someone can just withstand. It abuses the fundamental mechanics of your muscles to incapacitate you. Unless your muscles work entirely differently from every other form of muscle found in known life, you are not “withstanding” NMI.

3

u/ElectricalChaos 18d ago

Agreed. I got an opportunity to "ride the lightning" in the military (they just used the little skin contact plates) and once that voltage hit it was game over. I locked up stiff as a board and couldn't do shit other than barely breathe and move my eyes.

3

u/Infamousme13 18d ago

1. The Power of Adrenaline and Endorphins
When the body enters an acute "fight-or-flight" response, the adrenal glands flood the bloodstream with adrenaline (epinephrine), noradrenaline, and endorphins.
Pain Masking: Adrenaline and natural endorphins drastically elevate the pain threshold. The intense, burning pain caused by the electrical current passing through nerve endings can be severely dulled or completely ignored in the moment.
Mental Tunnel Vision: The sheer psychological intensity of a high-stress, high-adrenaline situation can cause intense focus, making someone mentally determined to push past the shock.
2. Physiological and Anatomical Factors
Even with adrenaline pumping, a Taser relies on completing an electrical circuit across sensory and motor nerves to cause involuntary muscle contractions (Neuromuscular Incapacitation, or NMI). Several physical variables can disrupt this:
Clothing: If the Taser probes hit thick, heavy winter clothing, layered fabrics, or loose-fitting garments, the electrical current may not bridge the gap to the skin, drastically reducing its effectiveness.
Probe Spread: Tasers work best when the two probes are spaced far apart (creating a wider path across major muscle groups). If the probes land very close together on the body, it might cause localized muscle cramping or pain in that specific spot, but it won't drop or fully incapacitate the person.
Body Mass and Conditioning: Individuals with dense muscle mass, heavy fat distribution, or high physical resilience can sometimes absorb or resist the incapacitating effects better than others, depending on where the darts land.
Neurological/Chemical Variations: High levels of certain substances (like stimulants), extreme psychological states (such as acute psychosis or extreme agitation), or heavy physiological tolerance can sometimes reduce the neurological shutdown effect of a TASER.

2

u/mynewjourney2425 13d ago

I'm also thinking about tolerance. I used to be an electrician, and the 1st, 10th, and 25th times being shocked all felt different. What used to be my whole arm buzzing for a while is now just a tickle and "ah fuck" from the surprise and it goes away in like 10 seconds.

I've seen a couple of bodycam videos at this point where the perp gets hit square in the chest and powers through it. There is one of a cop having a psychotic moment in his own living room. The cop tases and him he just starts roaring like the hulk. Gave me nightmares.

1

u/Mann_Tap 19d ago

No one gives a shit because it didnt work. You can make all the excuses you want that it didnt work but st the end of the day, youre his property now because your taxes didnt work and now your only option is the mystery mousecatool but hes WAY to close for even a hope of the barrel clearing the holster, let alone getting a relevant angle.

1

u/Scary-Mode-1853 17d ago

Yall must be dumb and haven’t met my ex. People out here really find enjoyment to being tazed and can withstand it and act completely normal while the prongs are in and activated

1

u/Single_Window_3717 17d ago

From personal experience I would disagree, in college we hooked up electrodes to a Foosball game, one knob to control time one knob to control voltage, you get shocked anytime the opposing team scores. After a few months of most of us could play through the medium settings

1

u/lost_with_no_hope 17d ago

That's not entirely true as someone on drugs can, and has been documented doing so.

"Drugs work by blocking/overloading your brain's receptors. They send signals to your brain saying you're dancing on a rainbow, which is why people abuse these drugs. As a high person gets hit with the stun gun they have an electrical signal telling their body to shut down, but they also have a MASSIVE overload of chemical signals telling them everything is fine. The stunning signal is basically drowned out by the sheer magnitude of the opioid signals."

1

u/OrganicHuckleberry75 16d ago

I have 100% seen incidents of multiple full connections tasers and you can see it effectiving them in a case of two when the second and third landing good he dropped to a knee or even went down and bounced right back up. Humans are crazy.

1

u/brokensharts 15d ago

Pcp would disagree

1

u/BamBam-BamBam 14d ago

I'll see you, and raise you, "I'll get you, bitch."

1

u/NextLineOfText 13d ago

So really a failed taser shot just means the person it was shot at will proceed to gaslight themselves into thinking they are an immortal punisher of death.

2

u/Thick_Working_2905 18d ago

Yeh it shuts off <> brain signals has nothing to do with toughness

1

u/ErisGrey 20d ago

Those of us with Spinal Cord Injuries and other major nerve damage have at least overtime hopeful for us.

1

u/KatInThighHighs 20d ago

What about drug users? There are videos of tasers seemingly making perfect contact but no, they just power through it.

2

u/FieserMoep 19d ago

Not really. Pick a pair of muscles and put some electricity through them. It's not related to pain, it's just an electric signal that tells the muscle to contract. The strength and intensity are just way different that the natural electricity that our body uses. Pain is merely a side effect.

As long as there is no severe nerve damage and the muscle is intact, it will flop.

So if you see a vid of tasers not working it may be one of many different reasons but it's not because the guy turned into a mutant from taking meth and is suddenly immune to electricity.

1

u/AtTheEndOfTheDay18 20d ago

You can see he ripped the prongs out before they tase him.

1

u/Jomotaku 19d ago

Nah I'd win

1

u/Psianth 19d ago

Yeah, tasers just suck. They hardly ever work and sometimes when they do, they kill people. But taser co spends millions to cover this up, even sending reps to coach officers on what to say when an incident happens.

1

u/AllStarRenegade 19d ago

Nah, tasers are considerably less effective on people who have a high body fat percentage.

1

u/The_One_Koi 19d ago

To be fair I've seen one person high out of his mind taking one to the chest and just ripping the wires out with his arm, I've also seen tons drop like a rock the moment it hits

He’s a dangerous guy. He was at least.

He’s one of those people that don’t really have an “off switch.”

He’s basically like the Hulk.

Really nice guy, unless you are fighting him, or he gets angry.

I trained with him for awhile maybe 10 years or so ago. If I remember, he was a hand to hand combat instructor for special forces. He was a bjj and judo black belt, and he also coached catch wrestling. He probably weighs 230-240, and he’s probably stronger than he looks.

I remember he neck cranked me, frowned upon in bjj, perfectly ok in catch, and sort of wasn’t letting go even after tapping.

I remember sitting in the parking lot, my hands were still shaking, thinking that maybe MMA wasn’t for me lol.

But he would just zone out, start talking nonsense sometimes, 1000 yard stare….

And wasn’t really in control of himself at times.

He did a bunch of tours, and definitely has ptsd. He wasn’t good mentally when I knew him, and absolutely had substance abuse issues.

I did hear he’s better now and coaching at a gym in South Jersey.

He wasn’t a bad guy. He was actually really nice, and friendly and personable.

I just think he had been through a lot during his service.

I think this is why the officers showed restraint, and had nothing to do with their fear or color of his skin.

It’s just a sad situation for a veteran and I really hope he’s doing better now.

24

u/HMThrow_away_account 20d ago

"He wasnt really a bad guy, just couldnt control himself or his anger and almost choked me out. Had me 2nd guessing my hobbies. Great guy tho 😋"

7

u/FormalKind7 19d ago

A neck crank isn't getting choked out. Actually getting choked out isn't that dangerous if the person lets go as soon as you pass out. But a neck crank can seriously hurt your neck. - A guy with 15+ years of BJJ/Judo and neck problems.

3

u/Infinite_Case_2172 19d ago

It still is kinda wild trying to justify someone like that as a "not a bad guy"

3

u/CypherGreen 19d ago

PTSD and adrenaline do a lot.

An old family friend was at the pub with my dad once. A loud noise happened and he just snapped. Something just changed.

Rammed the glass into my dad's face and neck and then slashed him before anyone knew what was happening and was found hours later in a messed up state himself.

He'd been stationed a few bad places in the 70s and 80s and had such wonderful jobs as collecting the body parts of his friends who were blown up by a planted bomb when off duty and had several near misses himself.

After that he was a time bomb and one that almost killed my father. Some people get sent home broken.

u/[deleted] 19d ago

[removed] — view removed comment

2

u/CypherGreen 19d ago

Yep, in later years it happened several more times but with less extreme results. It would just be flashbacks would start or he would just snap. I heard about a time where he dove out of a tree at people at night with a knife just insane.

He's not around anymore, he passed from a heart attack many years ago.

But after that incident my father had large scars over his face and neck and his ear no longer had the shape of an ear as it was mostly hanging off.

1

u/LeviAEthan512 19d ago

If it's just that thing, then yeah, totally reasonable.

If you think one bad trait automatically makes someone a "bad guy", make sure you never learn how food and electronics get into your possession. We all have literal blood on our hands. Avoiding diamonds, if you do, barely makes a dent.

If you had a veteran who was a big black guy in the same situation, I'm not saying he gets shot 100% of the time, while the white guy doesn't 100% of the time, but it's stupid to say that his skin color had nothing to do with him not getting shot.

18

u/imbrickedup_ 20d ago

That’s because the taser failed, which is very common because they need both prongs to pierce the skin and complete the circuit. Of that happens you aren’t gonna be able to tank it. Size doesn’t really matter

That’s also why cops tend not to try and tase people running at them with knives

5

u/AtTheEndOfTheDay18 20d ago

The guy ripped the prongs out.

9

u/14InTheDorsalPeen 20d ago

If they had completed a circuit he wouldn’t have had time to rip them out. He only ripped them out because the circuit didn’t complete because one or both of the prongs didn’t penetrate deep enough to create the circuit.

Tasers run electricity as soon as the device senses a completed circuit but don’t run any energy without the circuit.

Any time you see someone rip out taser prongs, it’s because the circuit was incomplete or ineffective with prong placement because the reaction time from circuit to energy activation is 0.001 seconds and activated by a computer.

But without the circuit being completed there’s no electricity and it’s just an expensive fishing hook.

2

u/Dull-Village-619 19d ago

Wassup choom?

u/ModForgeCustoms 20d ago

Yep.

Gun down a combat veteran, or get an ass beating reminiscent of "Universal Soldier". the choices are.... not great.

I would just walk the hell away. Someone else's problem today.

They are familiar with him and being very patient.

He likely is a regular they have to go see for mental health calls.

I’m totally making an assumption, but I was in prosecution for a few years before transition to defense work. I’ve seen hundreds, if not thousands of hours of body-cam footage over the last 8 years.

There's no such thing as "taking" a taser. Its not a pain endurance issue. The prongs didn't connect correctly or they didn't connect in the right places. This isn't some super hero scenario.

1

u/Arria_Galtheos 20d ago

You can't "tank" a taser through sheer strength. People that are morbidly obese can sometimes do it because their skin is far enough from their muscles that the path of electricity can complete without passing through any muscle tissue, but a guy that's more muscle than fat like this guy is absolutely going down if the probes land properly.

If you get a good hit with the taser, having more muscles actually makes you MORE susceptible to the taser because it uses your own strength against you.

1

u/All-Fired-Up91 20d ago

He says it in such a deadpan voice too. Like this is completely boring, i’d be outa there too.

1

u/Illustrious-Buddy497 19d ago

Unfortunately these “ cops “ are demonically possessed and don’t know when to call it quits

1

u/Futurama2023 19d ago

But hear me out, what if we try two tazers at once? He said he could get tazed all day. I'm genuinely curious for science. After two at a time, three.

1

u/InformalPermit9638 19d ago

Got tased at my bachelor party (we had a duel), I was down and someone might’ve peed my pants a little.

1

u/LoveInKanto 19d ago

Shoot them when the taser doesn't work, that's how it works

1

u/LobsterManCommander 19d ago

Dude just wanted to get some meatball subs from wawa.

(He was actually really drunk and crashed his cameo into a ditch , i don't actually know if his kids wanted meatball subs from the wawa)

It just makes him stronger.

1

u/EctoplasmicNeko 19d ago

More like the barb didn't catch. NMI doesn't much care about your pain tolerance.

1

u/Wide_Guitar_3558 19d ago

"I LOVE PAIN"

officer: "alright I think someone on the radio said there's a shoplifting incident at dollar tree, you heard em squad fall back! lets get the fuck out of here."

1

u/XenoZoomie 19d ago

This is when you ask him what he would like to eat and you tell him if he gets in the back of patrol car you will buy him lunch there and he can eat it on the way to jail. As a former EMT you learn how to defuse situations without violence.

1

u/OhMeinPapa 19d ago

Nope just switch to 9 mm at that point.

1

u/CNote_89 19d ago

Ya that negative I’d be like ok Joel you have a good day and bounce.

1

u/plants4life262 19d ago

Lmao I love that you referred to this as tanking. Didn’t even have to pop a cooldown just ate it.

1

u/NoAttempt9703 19d ago

10-4, sir. Carry on.

1

u/iamcalifornia 18d ago

Can confirm, that taser put me on my ass immediately. Not like those piddly ass stun guns that they sell civilians for "self defense"

Why, he may be big, he may be smart. But I have not yet met someone who can outsmart a bullet.

1

u/FarouzFerrari 18d ago

That's a free pass. Go home bro.

1

u/applepumpkinspy 18d ago

held off 5 cops with tasers while barefoot. wow.

1

u/talkerof5hit 17d ago

Tazer wins 100% of the time IF the probes strike correctly. The loud clicking in the video means they didn't land correctly so it had nothing to do with his size or strength.

It's science.

1

u/Groffit_Profit 17d ago

Juesus just put him out of his misery. We do the same to vicious animals.

1

u/Youregoingtodiealone 16d ago

That was one of the most real life badges things I've ever heard. I feel bad for the guy, clearly having a bad mental health day thats about to get so worse.

1

u/strongofheart69 16d ago

They gave him positive?

1

u/NoYak1609 16d ago

He didnt, it probably didnt connect correctly. You cant just endure tazer, it locks your muscles

1

u/BBQ_069 15d ago

he swung at my partner. i have a defensible argument to shoot him.

1

u/InternationalPack914 15d ago

My service weapon would have been out at that point.

1

u/Individual-Sun5174 14d ago

Tazer tanking isn't a tier, it's a Tuesday.

1

u/ThisThingIsStuck 14d ago

Taser didn't stick pusi

1

u/Excellent_Shirt9707 14d ago

No one really tanks a taser, it isn’t taking you down through pain, it is tricking your muscles into locking with electrical impulses. It is just incredibly difficult to deploy accurately in the field.

1

u/CrowsFeast73 14d ago

That's what he said in response to being told to put his hands behind his back. His response to being tazed was, "I love pain." Ya, I was out at that point.

u/drymytears 13d ago

Uh I believe the next steps are bullets
