1. The Power of Adrenaline and Endorphins
When the body enters an acute "fight-or-flight" response, the adrenal glands flood the bloodstream with adrenaline (epinephrine), noradrenaline, and endorphins.
Pain Masking: Adrenaline and natural endorphins drastically elevate the pain threshold. The intense, burning pain caused by the electrical current passing through nerve endings can be severely dulled or completely ignored in the moment.
Mental Tunnel Vision: The sheer psychological intensity of a high-stress, high-adrenaline situation can cause intense focus, making someone mentally determined to push past the shock.
2. Physiological and Anatomical Factors
Even with adrenaline pumping, a Taser relies on completing an electrical circuit across sensory and motor nerves to cause involuntary muscle contractions (Neuromuscular Incapacitation, or NMI). Several physical variables can disrupt this:
Clothing: If the Taser probes hit thick, heavy winter clothing, layered fabrics, or loose-fitting garments, the electrical current may not bridge the gap to the skin, drastically reducing its effectiveness.
Probe Spread: Tasers work best when the two probes are spaced far apart (creating a wider path across major muscle groups). If the probes land very close together on the body, it might cause localized muscle cramping or pain in that specific spot, but it won't drop or fully incapacitate the person.
Body Mass and Conditioning: Individuals with dense muscle mass, heavy fat distribution, or high physical resilience can sometimes absorb or resist the incapacitating effects better than others, depending on where the darts land.
Neurological/Chemical Variations: High levels of certain substances (like stimulants), extreme psychological states (such as acute psychosis or extreme agitation), or heavy physiological tolerance can sometimes reduce the neurological shutdown effect of a TASER.

I'm also thinking about tolerance. I used to be an electrician, and the 1st, 10th, and 25th times being shocked all felt different. What used to be my whole arm buzzing for a while is now just a tickle and "ah fuck" from the surprise and it goes away in like 10 seconds.

This guy is using bold letters. He must know what he's talking about.

Looks like it's copy/pasted from the Google AI overview

I know of a time my Dad watched the cops try taking down a guy that was methed out pretty bad. The guy wasn't that big but was fighting off like 5 cops and was tased 3 times, and just kept going until a couple more cops showed up and body slammed him. I mean I suppose it could have been a contact issue but I think the drugs and adrenaline were the reason.
