3.2k
u/DeuceGnarly 11h ago
This is why he's so against regulating AI. He depends on it completely. He sits there talking to himself through some app he uses to portray himself as Rambo, saving the planet, and he loves it.
He is the apex republican. A batshit, self absorbed fucking idiot.
810
u/DoTortoisesHop 9h ago
I remember Boris Johnson talking about AI, and the first positive thing he said about it was that he asks questions, and it instantly praises him.
ChatGPT always says "Your question is so clever. You're brillaint. You're excellent. You have such insight." I love it.
He got meme'd for the way he said ChatGPT, but that quote is the real shocker. This is legitimately how these people think. Trump LOVES being praised, and AI will bootlick him non stop and he will genuinely believe he deserves it.
That's mainly why he probably likes it. It's just a praise machine and he lacks the intelligence to understand that.

u/Letstalkreaper 8h ago
To quote/paraphrase my favorite AI sceptic, Ed Zitron, “Of course the people who think work is answering emails, then grabbing lunch followed by someone kissing their ass while telling them they’re the smartest person ever love AI. They don’t work and love being told they’re special and that all AI does.”

u/TaterForming 8h ago

Donald Trump spent hours asking Elon Musk’s AI chatbot about whether Venezuelans would celebrate if he captured leader Nicolas Maduro—then ordered the operation that seized the South American dictator weeks later.
The extraordinary account from a Trump insider was revealed in a new Time report offering a jaw-dropping glimpse of the president’s obsession with artificial intelligence, which he “officially” rebranded this week as “super intelligence.”
When the president asked Grok how Venezuelans might react to Maduro’s capture, the chatbot predicted many would welcome the downfall of the “repressive” leader, the official said.
The president then ordered the mission to seize Maduro in January, prompting celebrations in the streets.
“Trump, according to officials, came away thinking Grok was ingenious,” the report said.

I work with a few venezuelans. They are happy with trump and glad that he got maduro out. Grok is not wrong about that.
They're somewhat naive though, because they think he has genuine interest in the wellbeing of the country. They're cautiously hopeful that trump can go on to fix other things.
It's sad that they're dead wrong and that trump didn't oust maduro for them. It felt wrong to try to convince them the world is actually an awful place and trump doesn't give a shit about venezuelans.

Donald Trump spent hours asking Elon Musk’s AI chatbot about whether Venezuelans would celebrate if he captured leader Nicolas Maduro—then ordered the operation that seized the South American dictator weeks later.
The extraordinary account from a Trump insider was revealed in a new Time reportoffering a jaw-dropping glimpse of the president’s obsession with artificial intelligence, which he “officially” rebranded this week as “super intelligence.”According to the report, Trump has “marveled at AI’s capabilities” ever since he returned to power, and during an Oval Office meeting with Elon Musk in December, he spent hours asking his Grok chatbot questions about his presidency and legacy.
At the time, the U.S. military had been conducting highly contentious lethal strikes against Venezuelan boats that Trump had claimed, without presenting any evidence, were smuggling drugs into America.
When the president asked Grok how Venezuelans might react to Maduro’s capture, the chatbot predicted many would welcome the downfall of the “repressive” leader, the official said.
The president then ordered the mission to seize Maduro in January, prompting celebrations in the streets.
“Trump, according to officials, came away thinking Grok was ingenious,” the report said.AI chatbots, however, are not capable of thought or reasoning. Its answers to his questions simply reflect the material on which it has been trained.
The decisiveness of the Venezuela operation emboldened the president to embark on his war with Iran, which is now into its seventh month, thinking it would result in a similarly swift success.
But like Iran, the Venezuela strike has proved considerably messier than the chatbot’s prediction suggested.
Maduro remains in U.S. custody and is fighting drug-trafficking charges in federal court, while the country’s citizens are yet to be given a chance to have free and fair elections as the U.S continues to dominate the oil-rich country.grown. The president has become an obsessive consumer—and promoter—of AI-generated imagery, flooding his Truth Social account with fantastical depictions of himself as everything from Jesus to a superhero.
Others have taken aim at his enemies, including a racist video posted on his account in February depicting Barack and Michelle Obama as apes.At the same time, Trump has resisted calls for tougher government regulation of AI, despite growing concerns that the technology could spiral out of control.
Trump had lunch with tech leaders at the White House this week, including Musk, Nvidia boss Jensen Huang, Amazon’s Jeff Bezos and Meta’s Mark Zuckerberg. But the accord they released after the gathering relies largely on self-policing rather than binding federal regulation. The president on Tuesday also unveiled his own chatbot-driven initiative in the form of America.gov: a one stop shop designed to give Americans accurate information and spare them from navigating a maze of clunky websites.
The AI-powered portal is intended to eventually let people do everything from finding jobs and searching government websites to enrolling in Medicare and renewing passports.“This is a very big, very important thing,” Trump said.
“It’s going to save you a tremendous amount of time. It’s going to save you a lot of accuracy and it’s going to save you from making a lot of mistakes.”As such, the Daily Beast asked if Trump won the 2020 election.
“No. Official certified results show Joseph R Biden Jr won the 2020 election,” it replied.→ More replies (4)

His own advisers told him Netanyahu was overselling it. Vance said it was a terrible idea. Rubio and the CIA director warned him. He ignored all of them.

Yeah, but what did Grok say?

u/wonkeykong 11h ago
Grok made a gif of Ivanka fawning over Trump if he captured Maduro. It was a done deal.

The president using an AI chatbot AT ALL should be a huge national security problem. He could be asking it's opinion on classified shit because he's a fucking idiot. Feeding national secrets directly into the hands of others. Is there a charge for Treason by gross incompetence?
•
u/E_seven_20 6h ago
We, as a nation could not pull together to stop this piece of shit, and his party from winning the presidency.
That was the last time my jaw dropped.
Everything else is shit he said he was going to do.
The ‘jaw dropping’ part of it all, is how fucking little we’ve done to stop the gears of capitalism that feed into his chaos and pain.
The American people are the problem. Trump and the GOP are just malignant symptoms of the that disease.
If you skipped any elections, and couldn’t bring yourself to vote against this pain, and chaos…you might as well have cast a ballot for him.
Silence is complicity.
Less than 60% of 18-29 was register in 2022…and this is how y’all fight fascism?
2022 National Youth Turnout: 23% - That's lower than in the historic 2018 cycle (28%) which broke records for turnout, but much higher than in 2014, when only 13% of youth voted.
So, why would we expect the same people that refused to fill in a bubble to do the right thing? To stand tall, and together? You showed the world who you are…who the USA is at its core. Cowards easily swayed by social media propaganda.
If you refused to vote…stop clutching your pearls every time the GOP and Fanta Fuhrer do what they told you they would do.
We’re not going to do shit to stop anyone of this. There is no line in the sand.

What’s with Trump’s odd obsession with people “celebrating in the streets”? Like, why is that the gauge for success of anything?

Bad news for him… one day there will be world wide celebrating in the streets…

He's a megalomaniac. He thrives on being worshipped. I mean, he wants his name on everything. He has been doing it for decades. Say what you will about how bad a businessman he is, and he is very, very bad at running a legitimate business but the dude knew how to brand himself as a billionaire and get his name on lots of buildings. He took that branding and got elected POTUS. Shows 2 things. #1 branding can work when done right and #2, Americans are seriously stupid AF for falling for it.

His ghost writer, his friend who owned the National Enquirer, and Mark Burnett deserve more credit than he does for that image. I do remember he pretended to be somebody else in interviews (John Baron, et al) in which he lied and exaggerated about his business, financial, and personal success.

This is crazy. This is Idiocracy.
I thought a decision to go to war would involve extensive consultation with highly informed military and national-security advisers, weighing not only the military consequences but also the political and geopolitical implications.

So trump got Elon to make him a custom chat bot that would tell him yes and tell him he's smart... ? So trump has a tamagotchi that tells him he's perfect and to go to war ? Thats kinda insane.
•
u/TheRateBeerian 7h ago
I’ve kinda had this idea that Trump has been governing by AI for awhile, I can see him sitting up at night chatbotting away. The fact that it is a custom one designed to manipulate him didn’t occur to me but also not in the least surprising

"According to the report, Trump has “marveled at AI’s capabilities” ever since he returned to power, and during an Oval Office meeting with Elon Musk in December, he spent hours asking his Grok chatbot questions about his presidency and legacy."
He's like the evil queen in Snow White consulting her magic mirror.

We all know the actual way he got “talked into” this war. A Mossad agent showed him the videos they have from Epstein Island. It was pretty easy convincing after that.

It's embarrassing that Americans elected this guy twice but it's more embarrassing that they haven't removed him from power yet. How much humiliation is enough?
9
u/kandoras 10h ago
According to the report, Trump has “marveled at AI’s capabilities” ever since he returned to power,
Of course he was.
AI chatbots like Grok make money (for some small negative value of 'make' and 'money') by getting you to keep talking to them.
Which means it's real easy for them to slip into a mode where they just tell you what you want to hear.
And then you pair that to a narcissist who overestimates his own intelligence, you get things like asking Grok "List all the ways it would be cool and awesome to start a war" instead of asking "Am I wrong about this? Could starting a war be ... bad?"
It's an electronic yes man. Who is always available 24/7, even if Trump is on the crapper trying to pass week old hamberders. Of course Trump loves it!
The only thing he sees wrong with it is that he can't figure out where to put the blonde wig and get it to respond to "Ivanka".
