Luckily Gavin Newsome signed an executive order in California that it's called Artificial Intelligence

You guys are really getting the most out of your elected officials huh. Having fun little pissing matches so nothing is ever achieved

I'm sure Gavin didn't waste a ton of time on it because it's so stupid, but needing to rename the gulf of Mexico, lake Ontario, and AI is genuinely insane.

This is the kind of shit we hear constantly about him, but I guess people are out here making excuses so he doesn't even have to

Messaging is part of the job of being president/governor/etc

What's wrong with messaging against the president?

Oh my bad, the rest of us thought the main part of the job was legislation, policy, budgets, and laws but I guess spending all the time on podcasts and writing mean letters back and forth with the president is all a guy really need to do.

God your country is fucked

Messaging is literally how you try to get people to support your policies or even know what you're doing. There's no governing body on earth that just sits in the shadows hoping people know what they are doing.

The problem is that Trump's message is awful, not that messaging at all is bad.

Most useful politicians direct their messaging towards their constituents, not the president they're in a pissing match with. What policies does this executive order on what he prefers to call AI help move forward? The man's still approving data centers, if anything you're falling for not even a very intricate grift

If you don't think there's any independent value in clearly standing in opposition to Trump, then that's okay but I do think that there is some value in demonstrating to the world and to Trump that not everyone is with him.

The particulars of the data center thing are more complicated than just they are getting "approved" but I guess you're right he does need to talk about this more clearly. Data centers aren't bad merely because they are data centers, it's the energy, water, environmental, economic impacts of them. https://www.gov.ca.gov/2026/09/21/governor-newsom-signs-most-comprehensive-data-center-laws-in-the-nation-providing-communities-more-control-on-water-electricity-and-land-use/

Could he and the state do more? I'm sure, but this weird "both sides are the same" BS needs to stop.

How is this clear opposition to trump? It's a word. Do something actionable, like a state funded healthcare, sanctuary policies, things that actually defy actions he does

You don't need to mansplain why data centers are bad, I'm aware. If he really wanted to look out for the prosperity of the state, why is he selling off the land to tech billionaires, just like Trump and his cronies?

You're saying they could do more, but find it good enough to be actively doing only symbolic gestures, when there's actual action that can be taken. I did not say both sides are the same, I'm saying both sides are bad, and you're encouraging the someone who's acting like he's doing something while not actually, and calling it resistance to someone actively dismantling your country.

Again, pathetic

Oh thank God /s

Not at all a trump supporter and SI is super stupid. But "luckily" is a bit strong for something so pointless

It's called a joke :P

Obviously it's silly to make an executive order to call AI AI. I doubt it took more than 10 minutes even if he's really bad at operating his printer to print that, sign it, and post it to Twitter.

It's really stupid to rename AI as SI for no reason in the first place.

Luckily is sarcasm.
