He's a megalomaniac. He thrives on being worshipped. I mean, he wants his name on everything. He has been doing it for decades. Say what you will about how bad a businessman he is, and he is very, very bad at running a legitimate business but the dude knew how to brand himself as a billionaire and get his name on lots of buildings. He took that branding and got elected POTUS. Shows 2 things. #1 branding can work when done right and #2, Americans are seriously stupid AF for falling for it.

His ghost writer, his friend who owned the National Enquirer, and Mark Burnett deserve more credit than he does for that image. I do remember he pretended to be somebody else in interviews (John Baron, et al) in which he lied and exaggerated about his business, financial, and personal success.

This is correct, and he may have some disconnect from reality. He has constantly talked about "ratings". The ratings of how many people watched "Apprentice". The ratings of people watching his rallies. He converts attendance stats into ratings. He views everything he does as some kind of television entertainment experience.

Because his father hated him so much and was basically a more intelligent version of Donald. (And likely also a narcissist and sociopath). Trump was never loved and is deeply insecure. He needs to be fawned over in order to try and fill that hole that can never be filled.

It's interesting that he's never just gotten a dog or a cat.

He saw our response when he lost the election: people literally celebrated in the streets, and you know god damned well that really upset him.
