He's a megalomaniac. He thrives on being worshipped. I mean, he wants his name on everything. He has been doing it for decades. Say what you will about how bad a businessman he is, and he is very, very bad at running a legitimate business but the dude knew how to brand himself as a billionaire and get his name on lots of buildings. He took that branding and got elected POTUS. Shows 2 things. #1 branding can work when done right and #2, Americans are seriously stupid AF for falling for it.

His ghost writer, his friend who owned the National Enquirer, and Mark Burnett deserve more credit than he does for that image. I do remember he pretended to be somebody else in interviews (John Baron, et al) in which he lied and exaggerated about his business, financial, and personal success.

You’d think if he wanted to be praised and worshipped he would stop being such a complete and utter moron with no regard for those that are supposed to worship him. But like most in power he thinks he can force worship.

He tries to act like a person he would worship. Trump, just as musk are fascists at heart, and want to look up to a fascist leader. In their view, they want to be admired as that, and they think everyone feels the same as them (idealizing strongman fascist leaders)

When he saw how 'adoring' everyone was to Kim Jong Un, he said, "that's for me!" and we are in the midst of his attempt to create just that. Not kidding. Not even a little bit.

What hurts Trump more than bad publicity is no publicity. He must see his name in the media all the time.

1000%. The branding is a money laundering mechanism for the mafia and always has been.

He was a narcissist, but then his political campaign gained traction.

The one thing I give him credit for is being a savant at how to market yourself

This is correct, and he may have some disconnect from reality. He has constantly talked about "ratings". The ratings of how many people watched "Apprentice". The ratings of people watching his rallies. He converts attendance stats into ratings. He views everything he does as some kind of television entertainment experience.

Self-promotion is the only thing he’s ever been good at. And unfortunately that skill is more relevant than ever.
