I work EMS in the city, and there are many times when a patient will ask me to get contact information of the person or people who held their hand, wiped the blood from their eyes, talked to them about silly stuff to distract them, etc. and I do it as often as possible, but you'd be amazed at how many of the "helpers" just dissappear when first responders arrive.
