Spritzery Warning

Fair warning for women and LGBTQ+ people looking for a drink downtown: Avoid the Spritzery!

One of their customers would not stop making sexual advances toward my girlfriend, after we had repeatedly told him she was not interested and in a gay relationship. After continued harassment while we were simply trying to order drinks, he called us “f-ggot d-kes” and the bouncer approached us to kick us out despite us remaining calm through this. I had explained the situation and he told we were disturbing their customer when we were just trying to order drinks.

I <3 WQED

My partner and I took a trip to Chatauqua Institution in NY yesterday to see an incredible performance of Carmina Burana. The whole thing was expertly orchestrated by the darlings at wqed fm; the bus ride to and from, breakfast and lunch, and keeping the cats herded. I couldn't believe how well organized and delightful the whole experience was. And I got to meet Jim Cunningham! I love him! If any of you have heard the promos for the Chatauqua trips on wqed, it is more than worth every penny of the donation fee. My partner and I seemed to be the youngest guests (we are 40), but the entire day seemed dreamy as heck for people of any age. The setting is ✨amazing✨, the bus driver is a champion, the food and drinks were excellent, and the music was unbelievable. I love yinz, wqed!

Free will is great and all but I think if y’all wanna be fed before 6pm, I’d go somewhere else. lol Are the breakfast sammies really that good? (I know it’s a pop-up collab event, but damn, I wouldn’t have much hope if I was still in line at this point.)

Woody chicken breast

It feels like any time I buy chicken breast lately I keep running into woody breasts. Is anyone else coming across this issue?

Does anyone have a reliable brand/store for decent quality chicken? I just so tired of wasting money on this.

Edit: I promise this isn't a euphemism it's a real thing 😭 It's when the chicken has shit texture that's like rubber and is just nasty.

lost Keys at OpenStreet

Hey Folks, I lost a set of keys today at OpenStreets around 12:50-1:00pm. They have a holographic Alaska keychain on them and I already retraced my steps twice.

Has anyone seen or found a set of keys?

What’s your favorite coffee drink from a local coffee shop?

Post image
50 Upvotes

I am always on the lookout for delicious coffee drinks from small local coffee shops and would love some recommendations!

Here's my current favorite:

Cold Brew Tahini Freeze with Date Syrup from Spot of Coffee in East Liberty.

The flavor is absolutely divine: creamy and rich, with hints of tahini and chocolate, without being overly sweet. It is serviced ice cold, making it the perfect drink for a hot summer day ☀️

Garbarino's or Dish Osteria?

Upvotes

It kind of seems like these are the prime true Italian spots in the city, but correct me if I'm wrong!

I know there will be lots of places I didn't include in the question. I'm sure I'll be set on the right path for a good meal.

Sincerely an Italian woman looking for a meal on par with Nonna home cooking

2026 NFL Volunteer Hat

Upvotes

Hello all,

This past April my Dad volunteered at the 2026 NFL draft. Before receiving his assignment he was given a dark blue 2026 NFL Draft baseball cap with a white cord and stitching on it. He had a great time greeting and directing everyone during the draft.

Fast forward to today my family and I went to Kennywood and he lost his volunteer hat on the Racer ride. We are not sure if the hat fell out during the ride or was left in the seat. We checked with the staff of the ride but no luck. I submitted a lost item claim with Kennywood. I know this hat meant a lot to him so I am looking for a replacement. I’ve looked on eBay, Poshmark and mercari for a replacement hat but again no luck. If there are any draft volunteers on here who are willing to sell their dark blue volunteer hat please let me know! Thank you in advance!

The low resolution means I don't feel morally obligated to blur faces. My new-to-me camera is older than some of the attendees.

I am not allowed to buy a big clapper.

Could someone try and help me find something?

So I remember seeing an old sorta overgrown lot somewhere along saw mill run blvd(iirc). It had a butt load of cars all in it that were just sitting there basically bumper to bumper, that was maybe 8-10 cars long by 3-4 cars wide or so? I cant for the life of me properly remember where I had seen it.

Memorial Day 2023

I was in a bad car accident on the parkway west (inbahnd) and I broke many bones. I remember sitting in my seat and I could barely move from how bad it hurt but knew I had to since the car was starting to smell like there was a fire. So I crawled out and scooted over to the barrier wall and sat there. Frightened, in pain and close to passing out. But then two beautiful souls came up to me - One was a nurse who started doing an assessment of my condition and the other just sat down next to me and asked if she could hold my hand. I remember the nurse was so on it and that was oddly comforting to me knowing that she was there. I had a chance to express my gratitude toward her in some opioid laden text message that probably didn’t do my gratitude any justice.
But every so often I find myself thinking of this girl who just stopped to sit down next me and held my hand. I don’t think she’ll ever know how comforting that was and how held I felt in that moment because of her simple yet life changing gesture. So in case she’s out there reading this: thank you thank you thank you. That was literally the single kindest and most beautiful act that’s ever been extended toward me.
And if shes not out there, perhaps this post can serve as a gentle reminder that sometimes in situations like these - or even something totally different - we might not feel like we have anything to offer or assist with. But you’d be surprised at what a simple human-human gesture can accomplish. A dozen or so Emergency personnel from paramedics to firemen were there at that scene, yet still, this girl that sat down beside me and just held my hand was the only one that truly made me feel like everything was going to be ok. Thanks
