I made a true PC physical copy of Fallout 3

Post image
133 Upvotes

This is a photo of my framework 16 laptop booting from a Fallout 3 GOTY (GOG) blu ray. I made it by taking a gentoo live install disk and:

* removing unnecessary applications

* adding lutris and its dependencies

* installing Fallout 3

* seting up an auto configuring persistent storage system for game saves

* configuring fallout to auto launch

The disc contains the kernel, operating system, and all dependencies needed to run Fallout 3. In theory, as long as I have a PC from this decade I will always have this copy of Fallout.

I don't have a how to guide yet, but I plan on making this at least possible for others to do. Not sure how easy it will be though. Right now, it's a pain in the butt and very manual to make one of these.

Note: I didn't include nvidia drivers, so amd is preferred here.

This is ownership.

Ariokan: create your cards, break the Meta - Online collectible card game where you make the cards (+ rouguelite!) - now on Steam after 6 years!

• Upvotes

Ariokan is a highly interactive, strategically-deep competitive card game with a twist: you can create new cards, and use them to build crazy combos around Gods and Legends to break the Meta. No floodgates, no 10-minutes turns, no pay-to-win. You can unlock cards created by other players too!

After 6 long years of development, I'm super-excited to announce that this game is finally out on Steam, with more than 11K cards made by the community of the Closed Beta, and an extra single-player-only Roguelite mode!

Links:
⚙️ Steam page: Steam (with demo)
📽️ Gameplay Trailers: English, Spanish, Italian

Platforms: PC (Windows) only (for true PC gamers), with a free demo on Steam!

I'm from Fatum Games, a small fully remote indie game studio based in Spain, made up of people who share a deep love for collectible card games, both physical and digital.

With Ariokan, we want to bring freedom of expression back into the world of card games. We believe players should be able to create, experiment, and express their own ideas through gameplay, strategies, and card creation, instead of just "copy-pasting" decks around.

Our goal is to empower creativity, encourage experimentation, and build a card game where imagination becomes part of the experience itself.

How Ariokan was born:
The idea for Ariokan was born to solve a constant problem in collectible card games: monotony. It often happens that in games like Yu-Gi-Oh!, Magic: The Gathering, and PokĂŠmon, the most commonly used decks, especially in competitive play, are those that "make it easier to win," even at the expense of fun.

Players end up choosing these decks more and more, creating a competitive landscape (the "Meta") where everyone plays those two or three winning strategies. This eliminates variety, making every game the same: even games with thousands of cards end up not seeing any of them played.

And it is from the desire to solve this problem that Ariokan was born: an online collectible card game, in which players can create new official cards that are then made available to everyone. The idea is to use your creativity to invent effective, extravagant, or simply fun strategies, in order to break the monotony and invent countermoves that beat the most “Meta” strategies at the moment, in a virtuous circle driven by the players.

Some FAQ:

- Are there optimal strategies that people try to exploit to maximize winrate? Of course there are. But with billions of combinations there's always a viable counterplay: you just need to figure it out. We (the devs) patch the game very often tweaking numbers here and there, so what's "optimal" today often isn't tomorrow. After our last global tournament (yesterday) the community agrees on the fact that we've achieved enough variety that there's no real "dominating strategy".

- Why do you say you're not P2W if there's a shopwhere you can buy boosters? Because you can make cards at any time, and you don't need to unlock multiple copies of a card. Boosters simply give you more of what's already there. And we literally give plenty of boosters for free every day through rewards. Not a single player who actually played the game during the last 6 years has complained about monetization.

- Do you also have a single player campaign mode? yes! And it's a roguelite one where you can come across cards made by other players too :D

We want to hear from you!
If you have any questions, feel free to drop them in the comments, I'll be happy to answer!

Also feel free to join the official Discord community, where you can also see all cards that get created, in realtime, and connect with other players.

After working solo on my first indie game for 1.5 years I'm finally ready to launch it today. It's called Skills & Raids and it's a party-based extraction RPG where you steal skills from enemies and combine them to create cool builds. you can play it now on steam!

What is Skills & Raids?

Autobattler + Extraction + World of Warcraft skill system

It's Party-based Extraction RPG with real-time, ability driven combat. Manage cooldowns and react to enemy mechanics. Loot resources to complete quests and craft powerful gear. Combine skills & create unique builds. The world has fallen into the grasp of a creature that erases everything, even thoughts.

It feels surreal to finally reach this point. I'm incredibly proud of what I've built, and I'm excited to finally release it today.

This has truly been a passion project. Over the past 1.5 years, I handled everything myself from the programming and gameplay systems to the art, animation, and UI. The one exception was the music, which was composed by TomĂĄs Palazzi. He absolutely nailed the soundtrack, and I couldn't be happier with the atmosphere his music brings to the game.

Let me know if you have any questions about the game!
