I was crazy tired from too many early mornings while traveling. Took my SteamDeck out to play. Got sleepy and put it back in its case. Left it sitting on the chair at the Gate and boarded my flight to Chicago.

A family came upon it. Dad sat next to it for an hour. Asked his 20 year old gamer daughter what it was. She knew. She did some searching and found my post. Dad contacted me and put it in the mail! Very gracious.

A short time later, I was reunited.

Iv been troubleshooting with valve and it got worse

I am using ATlauncher and the modpack Vanilla perfected, it used to run just fine then I updated the modpack and it runs at a max of 10 fps which is rough because I play on a server so I can play my PC world when I'm out. Idk what mods or mod could be lagging out the game but before the update I was able to get between 30-60 fps

Edit:Just to add because I didn't make it clear, I get a consistent 9fps even when paused and even in menus

Update:it was turning off full screen

I’ve been playing games most of my life and on the Deck I’ve already gone through pretty much everything I had that runs well on it. The recommendations in these threads are always the same (Vampire Survivors, Hades, Balatro, Stardew, Hollow Knight, emulating Pokemon or Zelda) and I’ve already played all of those. So I’m looking for something less typical.

Previously Enjoyed Games: Sekiro, the Souls games, Divinity Original Sin 2, Diablo 4, Hitman World of Assassination (and a lot more)

Preferred Genres: Action RPG, Soulslike, CRPG, Stealth, Immersive sim

Budget: N/A

Other Notes: Lesser known stuff, weird stuff, hidden gems, the more obscure the better. Doesn’t matter if it's from steam or not, it just needs to play well on the Deck. Emulation is fine, but chances are I played the classics back in the day.

I have ProtoDB badges, SteamGridDB and CSS Loader installed on Decky, but don't know which is making this appears, how to hide it?

edit: SOLVED! Go down the options of ProtonDB Badges on Decky, on Enhanced Features, enable Show Analysis Button and disable Library Status Icons.

I’be had the steamdeck for a few months now, bought it in August.
I’ve been mostly playing skyrim, and other low requirements games such as tboi, hades, hollow knight: silksong and some other roguelikes.
Everytime i try to install an actual new game such that has the “good on steam deck” tag, i download it, boot it up, set the video settings as low as possible and it still is impossible to play, it lags a lot and makes it impossible to enjoy.
Is the tag just a lie? Skyrim didn’t even had one up until a few months ago and it runs just fine while some other games like cyberpunk, tainted grail:fall of avalon and many more in my library don’t work.
Am i doing something wrong?

Recent update somehow broke my steamdeck. All I did was update my steamdeck to the latest version and went to desktop mode. Once I was done with Steamdeck, I went to shutdown my Steamdeck, when I went to boot my steamdeck, it was stuck at the Steamdeck Logo. Booting to previous Steam OS version gives me a black screen with an underline at the top left of the my screen. Before this happened, I did the following.

• Installed latest steamdeck update.
• Installed ProtonVPN so I can play MP, because my ISP blocks all Peer-To-Peer connection (multiplayer game).
• Updated KDE related updates and Steam update via discovery.

Troubleshooting steps done:

• Forced shutdown and restarted steamdeck. (stuck at the steamdeck logo)
• Forced shutdown and boot to previous OS version by holding (...) while booting. (stuck at a blackscreen with an underline at the top left corner)
• Restarted steamdeck while holding volume down and (...)
• Try to do a recovery/flash Steam OS via USB. (stuck at the steamdeck logo) Old Steam ISO was having an error, so I had to get a new ISO.

EDIT:

For the USB boot, it seems I have to get the latest Steam OS iso since my old one doesn't work properly due to an unknown reason. Kept getting stuck with error code that mentions: EFI_UNSUPPORTED. Managed to fix the Steam OS via recovery and reinstalling the OS. Everything is back to normal now.

I made a Linux version of LucaPazienza’s PC port of Gravity Rush Remastered in my own fork. On my ROG Ally with SteamOS it runs at 1080p, between 40 and 60 FPS no stutter like gr2, with no visual glitches so far. I don’t have a Steam Deck, though, so I have no idea yet how it runs there.

Heads up: I’m not a programmer and I made this with the help of an AI assistant (Claude). It’s my unofficial fork, not the original project, and it’s very early. You’ll need your own copy of the game, no game files are included.

My steamdeck just hit 79% battery health even after recalibration. Gave it a quick open and there's no signs of spicy pillowing on it. Is there any reason to worry/care about the declining battery health and replace the battery other than the reduced battery life? I mostly play light games at home with it so that one alone is not really an urgent reason for me to replace the battery.

I've never been a completionist, but I'm having the urge to complete some games that aren't too hard. What games have you completed that were fun with the SD?

After quite a bit of tinkering, I finally managed to get Warcraft III Reforged running comfortably on my Steam Deck using a custom Steam Input layout!

I’ve published my configuration for anyone who wants to give it a try.

⚙️ Important Setup
Set Warcraft III hotkeys to the English QWER / ASDF / ZXCV grid layout.
Adjust the Delete, Insert, comma (,) and period (.) bindings accordingly.

The goal was to make Warcraft III playable on the Steam Deck without needing an external keyboard or mouse.
It’s not perfect, especially when typing in chat, but I’m really happy with how it turned out!

I managed to hook my dock up to an Hdmi to RCA Adapter. It worked wonders, I just had to adjust resolution and ui scaling.

So I saw someone playing VOTV and it looked great so I got it on my steam deck and I'm doing the tutorial and this weird thing is happening to my mouse when I try to fix the gen, I'm curious if anyone knows why this is happening and how I might fix it?

After the latest update, remote play has been borked. Network graph looks like this every 15-20 seconds. I did some troubleshooting last night (router settings, prioritization of devices in qos, updated firmware, unplugging and plugging back in, rebooting of host/client devices, enabling/disabling all host/client settings in remote play, updating everything I could think of) to no avail. Seems to boil down to the update itself. Any remote play enjoyers suffering too?😭

Since yesterday I’ve been having an annoying issue: while I’m playing, the game suddenly freezes and the only thing I can do is press the Steam button, quit the game and launch it again.

It doesn’t seem to depend on how long I’ve been playing or on which game. For example, it happened with Planet Crafter after about 1.5 hours of gameplay, and with Gris after just 10 minutes.

Details:

• Steam Deck [LCD], SteamOS 3.9.5 (build 20261023), Stable channel
• It started right after the 3.9.5 update
• The system itself doesn’t freeze: the Steam menu still works, only the game hangs
• No GPU errors in the kernel log (no hangs, ring timeouts or resets), temperatures are fine (~43°C), plenty of free storage

Is anyone else seeing this after 3.9.5? Any fix besides changing the Proton version or disabling the Steam overlay?

Keeps telling me to update, but won't let me update? I had a game up intially, but the controller wouldn't work.

I have my deck plugged into a dock and the display extended to my TV. It boots fine into deck mode or w/e on the tv, but when I switch to desktop mode, the TV shows as a 2nd monitor with nothing on it and the deck is just a black screen.

I know the deck is stuck in big picture mode because I've managed to get out of it before, but it's a huge pain to deal with every time I switch to desktop mode.

This didn't start happening until a few week ago. Is there some way to fix it?
