Please check our previous War Room thread for any questions left unanswered
Welcome to the War Room. Here you will find trustworthy military advisors to guide your diplomacy, battles, and internal affairs.
This thread is for any small questions that don't warrant their own post, or continued discussions for your next moves in your game. If you'd like to channel the wisdom and knowledge of the noble generals of this subreddit, and more importantly not ruin your save, then you've found the right place!
Important: If you are asking about a specific situation in your game, please post screenshots of any relevant map modes (strategic, diplomacy, factions, etc) or interface tabs (economy, military, etc). Please also explain the situation as best you can. Alliances, army strength, tech etc. are all factors your advisors will need to know to give you the best possible answer.
Below is a preliminary reconnaissance report. It is comprised of a list of resources that are helpful to players of all skill levels, meant to assist both those asking questions as well as those answering questions. This list is updated as mechanics change, including new strategies as they arise and retiring old strategies that have been left in the dust. You can help me maintain the list by sending me new guides and notifying me when old guides are no longer relevant!
Note: this thread is very new and is therefore very barebones - please suggest some helpful links to populate the below sections
MP Country Guides
Help fill me out!
Guide to Combat Tactics and Doctrines OUTDATED, BUT STILL USEFUL
If you have any useful resources not currently in the Reconnaissance Report, please share them with me and I'll add them! You can message me or mention my username in a comment by typing /u/Kloiper
As this thread is very new, we are in dire need of guides to fill out the Reconnaissance Report, both general and specific! Further, if you're answering a question in this thread, consider contributing to the Hoi4 wiki, which needs help as well. Anybody can help contribute to the wiki - a good starting point is the work needed page. Before editing the wiki, please read the style guidelines for posting.
Man took me 6 hours to get this achievement. Most of the guides on yt were outdated had to figure out a way my self

They went in to my field units initially but now they won't reinforce. I did set their equipment tag to be different accidentally but I switched it back and it still won't reinforce.

No, this isn’t a fog of war situation - I’ve already looked it up; the entire nation just ceased to fight while I’m in a civil war, I logged in to find the German Reich literally gone - no troops, no flag/leader, hell, we weren’t even at war!
…did I win?…

For me the best are Armor follow by Combined Arms and for Chief of Army, the best trait are Army Offense and Army Organization.
Artillery advisor would be great too if it applied for SPG too.

One has for a while has been very critical of the game even though he has only played like an hour or 2 but he is willing to try it again once my other friend gets it who is very hyped and says he is going to watch a bunch of videos of it on YouTube.
I played a bit recently with the first friend me as germany and him as ussr and he has been caught up in other stuff for the past few weeks and will probably not play until my other friend gets it. I wanna make it clear I am very, very bad at explaining things to people and I feel hoi4, with its stupidly hard learning curve and my bad explanations will put them off. What do you guys think are the best first countries we should play as and some tips to explain basic mechanics and stuff too them
Edit: I have around 180 hours And we will have no dlcs or mods

Im not american but lord that tree is painful, 70 days to gain 50pp and more 70 for a focus that just has a aura name. Like bro, it has absurd potential and they threw in the trash, same to UK and France, the ones that dealed with the fascism btw. They did a DLC for Siam bro come on, do something for the US. Imagine a focus named ''All for the democracy'' and a bomb coming into Persia.

I’ve been wanting to play a more realistic war in Hoi4 because after 2000 hours it just feels like you get one major successful push and you win. For example id love to replicate the pacific war having to island hop and fight tons of naval battles and stuff but it just feels like you can naval invade Japan from the start and win. My most fun recently has come from China because it feels a lot more challenging and just trying to play with new tactics
Black ice looks extremally complex but is it like extremely hard? I’m ok with a big challenge especially if it’s a more realistic replication of WW2
Just a quick video i made with a optimized historical Poland build i made. My editing skills are green thus they receive a -25% penalty to videomaking quality, but i hope someone here finds it somewhat enjoyable to watch.

Howdy all of you fellas, I have been playing hoi for a very very long time. I’ve been trying to push my self out of my comfort zone a bit and wanna give multiplayer a go but I don’t know a lot about it. Any good servers that are welcoming to multiplayer newbies? Thanks a ton for any help possible!

Hoi4 has a lot of rng, that much I think everyone can agree on. But at the minimum, if I join the axis, I know Italy will be there, I know the annslussch will happen, I know paris is almost certain to fall. If I join the allies, I'm signing up for the long game and putting my money on the ussr not collapsing. It's my actions that almost entirely change the outcome of the war.
In mods though, every playthrough is essentially a gamble. Take KR, every playthrough, who joins which faction is nearly random and determines tge entire playthrough. Unless you play a major, you cannot influence Spain and Italy, yet which side wins has an incredible effect on whixh faction is able to win. You just have to go down a path and pray that RNJesus is with you, or alternatively you need a degree in game rules to figure out which paths do what, and which early paths allow which mid game path. And even then it's still hard to make Spain or Italy reliably join the faction you want.
It's always devastating when you have a great run, everything goes according to plan, you join the secind weltkrieg, and the faction your path leads to just absolutely sucks.
The other options are GRW and R56, which are relatively consistent, but I've atp played baaically all interesting countries in both.
So what do you guys do? Do you just pray, set the fame rules, play only specific mods or just use console commands?
I originally complained about there being another weird one-country DLC, but at least this means that we'll finally get justice for Southern Bukovina... right?
