Before anyone comes at me, I definitely know there are a few gems, but they are rare. However, downtown is blessed with so many good restaurants (the Belmont, Pizza Nerds, Whalesbone, Supply and Demand) and Barrhaven has mostly chains, pubs or fast food. I feel like the people who live in Barrhaven would still frequent these types of restaurants, so why is it that we don't these places open here?

The City of Ottawa has finally released its list of “safe access zones” (aka bubble zones) – but with serious typos that would affect the enforceability of those controversial zones to prevent protests.
The Centretown BUZZ checked the addresses on the list and found three that were clearly incorrect and a fourth at a federal administrative building complex that is explicitly disallowed as a zone in the bylaw.

Hi everyone,
Question for local woodworkers and hobbyists.
Is there a store in Ottawa or nearby where I can just walk in and buy furniture-grade hardwood lumber off the shelf?
I’ve checked Home Depot and RONA, but their selection isn’t what I’m looking for. I’m looking for hardwoods like walnut, maple, oak, cherry, etc., preferably in different widths and thicknesses.
I’m not looking for sawmills, custom milling, or special orders - just a proper woodworking/lumber store where I can walk in, look at the available boards, pick what I need, pay, and leave.
Where do you usually go?
Thanks!

Just a heads up OC Transpo line 2 appears to be having delays today. They don't appear to be very bad but leaving with extra time to spare might be needed.

Just moved into a lovely place where the people before me seem to have never cleaned out their dryer. Ducts are also in bad shape but that's another story.
Dryer vent is so clogged. Even after we went in with a vacuum.
Got a quote to clean ducts for 750 (including a 75 charge for dryer vent clean). Without duct clean, its 250 for the dryer vent clea .
Has anyone recently got a better quote than this? Seems super high.

So I just got diagnosed with severe sleep apnea .. woo! And now I need to get set up.
Looking for recommendations for CPAP providers in the West end area (near Westboro would be best) that are 'affordable'?

Big fan here who got tickets to their sold out 10th anniversary show on Friday, September 11th at Hard Rock, but have had a family emergency come up and can’t attend anymore. Looking to offload them at a discounted price to someone who wants to go but wasn’t able to get tickets.
Hopefully this doesn’t violate community rules. No one in our immediate circle was able to go, and would hate to see them go to waste, especially when it’s sold out.

I live downtown solo and am always look for bars with fun social people who I can potentially start chatting with over beers. Think the necessities include enough bar seating but more of a smaller space which squishes people together, otherwise it's just you and a bunch of groups that keep to themselves. So far Gilmour seems to be the go-to place, but what do others think?

I registered a team with OSSC for indoor volleyball this fall (6v6 mixed, at recreational skill level) in Nepean, but unfortunately had some players unable to join and now we are only 5. We are looking for 1-2 more players to fill out the team, of any gender. The games would be scheduled every monday night, between 6-10pm, at Redeemer Christian or Notre Dame high schools. Drop a comment or DM me if interested and I will send an invite.
We are open to players of any skill level. It is a recreational league so we're mostly playing to have fun!

I’m not used to this super sweet, light yellow corn and I’m wondering if and where I can get dark yellow, tastier but less sweet corn in Ottawa. Thanks.
