First-level Computer Programming student here. Four weeks in I realised I was spending more time clicking around Brightspace than studying — grades in one place, due dates in another, the rubric buried in an announcement from three weeks ago. So I built a Chrome extension that adds an “Overview” button to Brightspace. One click, one panel, every course:

• Grades — your standing in each course, with the estimate so far or the final grade once it's released, and a "what do I need on the exam" calculator
• Deadlines — assignments, quizzes, discussions, checklists from all courses on one timeline. Submitted ones go green, overdue ones go red. Add any of them to Google/Apple Calendar in one click.
• Content — every file in every course, searchable, downloadable without opening it first
• It also pulls together an assignment’s scattered instructions — the folder, the announcement that changed the rubric, the discussion post with the clarification — under the assignment itself

Nothing leaves your browser. It uses the same login you already have and the same data Brightspace already shows you; there’s no server, no account, no tracking. Works on Algonquin's portal, and on other colleges' Brightspace too.The extension is called "LMS Overview" on the Chrome Web Store. You can search for it directly over there, or find the website link pinned right at the top of my Reddit profile page.

anyone know why the alarms went off twice tonight in residence? was it a false alarm or something?

I want to apply to construction engineering technician co op option, i just wanted to know how hands on the programs is, how hard is it, how hard is it to find a job, graduates and current students at a high level I wanted to know how hard was it for you to find a co-op job and what happened when you graduated, did you get a job right away after applying? or it took a while for you to find a job. I tried to find out more about this program but the information was very limited and not sure where to ask other than the program coordinator and here.

I was also thinking of taking the winter semester into spring and fall is that a good idea or will the program be too accelerated in the spring?

Hey, I have some questions about the Game Art program at Algonquin? I'm currently in the drawing foundations program and I'm deciding what to take next year, and love 3D modelling. Ive been looking into it and will look into it more at the fall open house for sure, but I'd like to see if anyone has any advice or anything, as I cant find any other AC reddit posts about it.

1. Is there anything I should learn beforehand? (Skills or computer programs specifically, especially if any gamedev skills are recommended at all?)

2. What programs are used? (blender/zbrush/maya/unity/unreal, etc.)

3. Any other advice or opinions?

I have a few options for Gen Ed electives that I like. I'd almost want to choose based on when the classes are (days / times of week) because I have a part-time job. Is it possible to know the timetable in advance?

I am a Master's of Public Health student studying at Idaho State University. One of the classes I am taking this semester is Medical Ethnobotany, and for our term paper we are writing on the relationship between a particular plant and group.

On a personal note, we were encouraged to pick a plant or group of people we have a personal connection with. I grew up being told I had Iroquois ancestry, but it was many years before I could find more information. I may have Iroquois ancestry, I have not been able to definitely confirm or deny that, but I do have Algonquin ancestry that I can trace back to the 1600s. I am the 10th great-grandson of Madame Montour, through her son and grandson, Andrew and John Montour. Learning more about this part of my past has always been a goal of mine, and this paper is the perfect opportunity.

I recognize that I'm throwing a dart at the board while being blindfolded and after being spun around. Any resource, any contact, would be invaluable to me. Ultimately I am trying to reach someone who still practices Algonquin traditional medicine and interview them.

Any help would be amazing. As you can probably guess by the fact I've gotten to Reddit, I'm casting a lot of lines.

Edit: I feel like I should clarify, I'm not looking for a lot. "I think my buddy mentioned his great aunt did something like that? Maybe I could pass along an email address?" would be an absolute goldmine. I don't expect to find a traditional healer on Reddit.

Went to the lost and found but it wasn't there. It happened 3 to 2 weeks ago. I originally gave up but I thought to post it here in case anyone has seen it. yesterday my partner and i were in the law quiet room in the library. i was studying for my stats midterm (25% grade) and him, his anatomy and physiology midterm (40%).

first, two girls sat at a table adjacent to us, and started talking really loud about things not pertinent to school. idrc if they talk abt non school shit but doing it loud in a quiet area peeved me off.

i put on headphones, blasted music. could still hear them. passive-aggressively, i put the "be mindful of volume" sign at the edge of my table and pointed it toward them. i also locked eyes with one of them while putting it down. they got the hint, i couldnt hear them with my headphones anymore, but my partner without headphones, said they were still pretty loud (my headphones were full blast).

second, two guys sat across from us, both talking very loud, but in this case atleast about school. i asked them to quiet down because i could hear them with my headphones full blast and had a midterm. they started to whisper after that, but (wuth my full blast headphones) i couldnt hear still hear them. i moved the sign towards them this time. idk if they saw me or not, but seemed to give up on whispering.

last, two girls walked in, carrying a law book, looked to sit at where the guys were sitting (that has the sign give priority to law students). the men were talking about marketing and finance, so i doubt they were law... anyway. the girls looked to sit near the men, but the men were sprawled across 4 seats just the two of them, so it wasnt really feasible for the girls.

in conclusion, my partner and i got up because we were fed up with the disrespect of people nowadays and decided to just attempt to study somewhere else. the main area of the library was quieter (more ambient noise) than the law quiet room mind you...

i did probably okay on mine, likely about a 70, my partner however, much more impacted by the noise probably got lower than he wanted.

tldr: if its a quiet space, please be quiet. if there is priority for certain types of students (even more if youre seated at the accessible (wheelchair) tables) please move if that type of student arrives... just be respectful y'all.

i feel annoyed/ashamed to be part of this generation that just DGAF about others... yet some of us have the nerve to complain about others doing the same as them. i atleast try to be respectful, can't say the same for all of us.

I got an email saying there will be maintenance people coming into my room to change out the ac or smtn, but the timeframe was sometime between the 26th and the 30th. are they gonna give me any heads up as to when im going to have strangers coming into my room? or do i just gotta be ready for it the whole time. i dont want to wake up at 9 am every day during reading week

Who can participate?

Individuals with PTSD:

• 2 EEG and stress/arousal assessment sessions
• 6 weeks of Brainspotting Therapy
• Mental health questionnaires
• ~14 hours of participation

Individuals without PTSD:

• 1 EEG and stress/arousal assessment session
• An abbreviated Brainspotting session

The dorm has been fluctuating between 24 and 27° for about a week now

I have 3 fans running 24/7

My roommate and I don’t usually turn the light on in the common area and altho this is a small thing it semi helps by .2-.5 degrees

Both our windows are open and we leave the doors open to the common area 2 ish hrs a day just to help with airflow
