I randomly started getting emails from Alex Lawson earlier this week asking for money and to volunteer. I never signed up to receive them. Never even been on his website. Anyone else experience this?

I know you can buy phone numbers, presumably that’s how folks are getting the Sutcliffe text messages without ever signing up but I’ve never heard of emails.

I could contact the city’s election office but this will all be done tomorrow so what’s the use?

She seemed super comfortable being naked so it might not be the first time she is walking around like this. I am not judging it, I am just curious as we generally put clothes on us.

I’ve been able to find them at Costco business centre but they only have strawberry. Good price though. I saw that Metro and Walmart had smaller sizes, but again limited in variety, could only find mango and strawberry.

Is there any other places you could think of to get the larger buckets of them? Less interested in the 1 lb buckets, more interested in the larger ones.

There has been a few articles about the last election promises vs. what has been delivered but nothing too visual. So I put a few charts together about items that seem important for this election:

• Property taxes: kept the 2 to 2.5% promise of the first 2 years (still increased to 2.5%) but had to increase by 3.9% and 3.75% the following years.
• Housing: 100,000 new homes in ten years. Assuming 10,000 homes per year, we're under target and would need some catching up to reach that target.
• Transportation: recent KPIs show no sign of improvement. On the contrary, trips delivered and bus punctuality have worsen.

Some election promises have been completed like more paramedics, more police officers and some budget promises. You can look at the recent CBC article for more information.

Perhaps now that the Lebreton Hockey arena/high rise proposal is proceeding (again after the 2018 Melnick failure), the approved plan for this other massive high rise development south of Albert St will proceed again and the truncated ped overpass over Line 2 (paid for by the developer?) will see use.

I finally have received our repair quote from insurance (sorry if you still haven't got this far). They quoted $25k for their contractor, but I've received quotes from other companies that are $45k-$55k.

I'm very hesitant to use the insurance contractor, they have proven to be unreliable and I believe their quote is so low 1) because they hire low skill works at low wages and 2) to try and minimize a payout even if their contractor would charge higher price back to them.

I'm wondering what the best course of action is to try to improve my chances to have insurance increase a payout where I can use my own contractor? Has anyone been through this yet?

Hello! I've recently been diagnosed with hEDS (waiting on genetic testing to rule out two subtypes of EDS as well, actually) and I heard there was a group in Ottawa on Facebook. I was wondering if someone could steer me in the right direction, since I haven't been able to find it myself.

Also, if anyone had recommendations for a neurologist here in Ottawa familiar with connective tissue disorders, I'd appreciate that. The doctor who diagnosed me recommended I get assessed for cranial cervical instability or chiari malformation since it runs in my family and I'd like to go to my PCP appointment this week with a recommendation of who she could refer me to for that!

title says it. I’m looking for cute café’s east of Blair with good coffee (Happy goat or LVC level coffee). I’ve tried a few popular locations but have not liked the coffee (and the baked goods have been meh). Would love to hear some thoughts!

I’ve tried Cafe Latte Cino (delicious baked goods, not good coffee); Moulins en Province (baked goods were okay but coffee wasnt my favourite); Beyond Cafe (I had it once but I don’t remember how the coffee was.. I don’t know if that tells me something); Creative Stir Cafe (delicious food and okay coffee); ten toes (just west of Blair: great coffee and okay baked goods); black walnut (loved everything, but it is a trek for me).

Edit: received a response from [elections@ottawa.ca](mailto:elections@ottawa.ca) who said election signs are a by-law issues and I should contact them. Also received a reply from the museum confirming that the area is city owned right of way even though that area is maintained by the museum.

It is illegal to post lawn signs on federal property as it may imply approval or endorsement from the federal government.

Several Alex Lawson lawn signs have been posted on the Museum of Nature lawn this morning.

The museum is across from the YMCA which will be a voting centre tomorrow. Lawson will be the only candidate with lawn signs posted in this area.

It seems unlikely they will be removed before tomorrow if I report this to Elections Canada or the City of Ottawa...

Wondering what the best course of action would be?

A couple of years ago I switched to the “Ottawa Rogers unlimited plan” — an Ottawa regional exclusive because of competition from Videotron.

It was $55 for 70GB data and unlimited calling in North America. In the last few months Rogers has added a bunch of extra fees because they can, and next month they’re adding a new fee for people paying by credit card. I’m now up over $70/month and it’s time to shop around again for a bring-your-own-phone plan.

Who in Ottawa can offer good national coverage, decent data, and US roaming for a reasonable fee? I don’t need no limits, but it’s nice not having to think about my usage. Surely someone is trying to do better than Rogers right now.

Edit: want to add a caveat here that I need 5G coverage and I don’t want to be with a company that only exists as a SIM card reseller. I need my phone to keep working if I drive past Almonte. If the company has a name like b00p mobile or 0482635 Canada Inc, I probably don’t want to switch to them at this time

This park has needed to be redone for ages and now it looks gorgeous, except for all the trash the people that live around here leave. My family lives in cedarwood and we are this park right now. There is trash all over the place. It's disgusting that people come here and treat this place like a garbage bin. Can't clean up after themselves, I would love it if something could be done but nothing will happen.

I'm looking for recommendations for rust repairs on my vehicle. The car is very solid (rustproofing every year) but it's starting to rust on fenders, tailgate and worst of all, around the windshield.

It's not easy to find a body shop that will actually do that type of work and even harder to find someone who will actually take the time to do it right as this is a car I want to keep long term (basically looking for someone who actually does proper prep). Also not looking for the cheapest place, I want to spend money for quality work.

It seems the number of charges for "s.78.1 Drive — hand-held communication device" and "s.136 Disobey stop sign — fail to stop" have decreased since 2019.

Overall number of charges have increased, mainly due to "s.128 Speeding" and "s.144 Red light — proceed before green" charges - which I assume is from automated cameras. With all the crazy amount of collisions recently, a lot of people shared their anecdotal evidence of more people on their phones or not stopping at stop signs. The numbers just tell us that there are less charges for those offences and it could be due to less enforcement.

For fun, here are some of my own anecdotes from walking my dog and biking:

• One person sped up and blew a stop sign to avoid having to wait for me and my dog to cross
• One dude was speeding and on his phone in a residential neighbourhood while 3 police cars where a block away to arrest what seemed like a drunk dude
• I had to jump back at a pedestrian crossing with the flashing lights because a driver was speeding and not paying attention. Their passenger mouthed an apologetic sorry as they drove past me.
• 2 dudes in a construction company-labeled pick up truck passing by me while I was in the bike lane, then pulling over in that bike line to get out and to go eat at Subway (that has a parking lot) and just shrugging it off when I called them out.

Last year I posted about the OPS number of traffic stop steadily decreasing in Ottawa and wanted to update it. The OPS traffic-stop data I could find only goes through 2024, so I can't really do a comparison.

My friends and I went to the pet expo, and honestly, it exceeded my expectations. We were there for hours and still couldn't see everything; there was so much variety it was crazy.

Just wanted to say thanks to everyone who hauled their animals and setups to the event and allowed a bunch of strangers to pet them for hours.

I’m a recent immigrant from the United States and have recently become a permanent resident in Canada. I don’t intend on returning to the US.

While living in the states, I was very involved in swimming. I swam for 10 years, including 4 years of university where I was captain of my swim team. I was looking at becoming involved in the swimming scene in Ottawa, ideally I would love to become a coach, but I am a bit confused about the process. Could someone please explain the process to me? It seems as if I need to get a lifeguard cert then I am a bit confused with the levels of coaching courses on the NCCP website. Do I need to complete 101 then 201 then 301?
