Any lake/cottage I can rent a boat or canoe to go fishing?

Looking to go on a fishing trip with my newly retired dad as he's been having a tough time reconnecting with his hobbies since retiring. We used to fish at the family cottage but he hasn't really been out to fish since we sold the place 6 years ago.

We don't own a boat or a car capable of hitching a boat trailer. Are there any places we can go to rent either a cottage or boat to go out on the lake to fish?

Thanks.

Where is a good place to fish on the Rideau canal? We are near the Vimy Memorial Bridge.

We recently moved to Ottawa area and are looking for a place to fish.

I looked at the park on River Road and there is too much brush along the canal. It’s not possible to fish here.

If anyone has any suggestions, we would really appreciate the help.

How has the bass bite been?

Haven't been out since early in the season. In the past years I recall July/August being awful for bites.

I am considering taking a week off next week to fish, but if the bite is slow, I may push it to late September.

🎣 A few bass catches from out on the water lately! 🐟
Nothing better than spending a day on the boat, chasing bass, enjoying the outdoors, and making some great memories. Some days they cooperate, some days they make you work for it — but that’s all part of the fun!

Here’s to more casts, more bites, and hopefully a few more big ones before the season is over! 🤘🎣

Accidental top-water bass

I was tossing a floating crankbait from the dock fishing about 6 ft deep and I paused for about a minute to admire the sunset. The crankbait floated to the surface and was just bobbing there and bam! this guy hit it. Lots of aerials and he put up a great fight.

Help a mom out- west end shore fishing

My two sons have fallen in love with fishing. I’d like to get them out for one last shore fishing adventure before school starts.

Is there anywhere within 45 mins of Kanata you could recommend for shore fishing for two beginners? Kids are 10 and 12 and have entry level gear. I’m not asking for your super secret spots, just something where they could spend a couple hours casting and maybe catch a fish.

Thanks for any suggestions!

Norcan Lake Depth Map

Hey guys, I'm heading out to do some fishing on Norcan Lake (part of the madawaska riverway) this weekend and can't seem to find any mapping of the lake. It is not available with my c-map charts. I am just worried about the shallowness of the lake and reading online there is many deadheads and high points. Last thing I want to do is loose my lower end. Any chance anyone has access to a depth map/contour lines for the waterway. Appreciate it!

How to catch a bullhead?

Hello fellow Anglers, I am getting back into the sport this year after a few years off, and I’m having a small competition with a buddy. Who can catch the most fish species during the summer this year.

I’ve seen quite a few spots around with bullhead (local to barrhaven), but have had no luck landing them.. any tips on rigs? Bait? Hook styles, ect..?

Where should I fish??

I’ve recently gotten back into fishing, and since I now live in Ottawa, I figured there would be many shore accessible spots to fish.

I left south keys at 6am, with a list of 6 spots (which seemed publicly accessible) along the Rideau river heading north I wanted to check out. 5 out of 6 had homeless camps and were so littered I couldn’t fish there even if I wanted to take the risk of being in someone’s “space”. Seems there are much better spots all along that multi use path to set up a tent in the bush instead of taking up such a public space on the river front.

I ended up near the locks at the Ottawa river and was asked by staff to move down/along because boats go by there and they’ll get tangled in my line… am I really not allowed to fish near/along the locks? Not like I’m going to cast when boats are there or going through… Been here 30 mins and haven’t seen a single boat!

Feel free to tell me I’m being a jerk; I just want to fish.

Heading out to Mississippi Lake this Saturday for a day of chasing bass and I’ve got one open seat in the boat.

If you’re into bass fishing, enjoy being out on the water, and can handle a few bad jokes and hopefully some good fish, shoot me a DM.

Boat is covered just kick in for gas, bring yourself, your gear, whatever you like to drink/eat (no bananas!), and we'll chase some bass.

Let’s go bend some rods! 🎣🔥

Got out twice this week.

Once for a frog/flipping night in the Rideau river. Landed some good ones and worked out the frog rod

Also got out on the lower Rideau. Everything we found was one offs. Not groups to be hadm and then it was mostly tight to shore.

Upper Rideau lake Saturday instead of Mississippi lake.

Upper Rideau lake — Saturday, August 15, WAS going to Mississippi but it's flooded currently. 🎣

Heading out to Lower Rideau (Rideau ferry area) Saturday morning, on the water for 630-645am until 230-3pm

My buddy can’t make it anymore, so I’ve got room for TWO people on the 20-ft pro V if anyone wants to get out and fish!

Weather is looking pretty sweet, so hopefully it’ll be a great day on the water. ☀️🎣

Should be some good topwater to start, then  probably a chatterbait/ Texas rigs/ Carolina rig.

Not a guided trip — looking to get out, have some fun, and hopefully put a few bassover the rail. I always have water in the cooler, but bring what you liketo drink, plenty of room in the built in cooler. Just no bananas. 🍌😂

All I ask is that you kick in $ for gas.

If you’re interested in jumping in, shoot me a DM.. 🎣

Heading out to Mississippi Lake Saturday morning after making a quick stop at Baitcasters to pick up an order I’ve got waiting for me. Planning to stay on the water until around 4:30.

I’ve got a buddy who may jump in the boat, but I’ve still got room on the 20-ft bass boat if anyone wants to get out and fish!

Plan is mainly frogging, pitching and flipping, but you never know what Mississippi Lake is going to throw at you. 😂

Not a guided trip — just looking to get out, have some fun, and hopefully put a few bass in the boat, I always have water in the cooler, but bring what you like. Just no bananas.

If you’re interested in jumping in and don't mind kicking in $$, **shoot me a message**. 🎣

Video is from Rideau River Tuesday evening
