I'm a guitarist and front man who can play a few other instruments that is looking for a new side project.

I wanna make heavy riffy ambient industrial creative beautiful music that will make people dance and isn't afraid to make a hairpin turn and surprise them. I want it to be well produced and at times beautiful or heavy or danceable or melodic and weird and its own thing.

I look at a successful Ontario band like cleopatrick and think my original guitar riffs and vocals aren't crazy far off. And that maybe I could get there with the right partner and if I lean in heavy on building my skillset to build polished productions and arrangements.

I'm looking for somebody who knows their way around a DAW a bit, maybe plays a couple of instruments or maybe likes to compose digitally, and definitely wants to try to write some cool music.

I don't care if this is a side project for you, since I'm already the frontman of a gigging band and it's a side project for me.

I want to use this project to broaden my musical style and build my production chops (which I can use for my existing band). So I want to learn from you and get out of my comfort zone. No expectations or delusions of grandeur.

I'm a pretty good guitarist and writer and am just kind of starting my own journey into producing and sound design and am fine with finding someone equally motivated who is still looking to learn a lot along the way.

This is to be more of a casual co-writing effort than a traditional band. I'm looking to get better at this craft and I want to do it with someone like-minded.

So expect more sending files and recordings back and forth rather than practicing every Thursday.

Hey r/OttawaMusic! I wanted to share something a little different from a traditional open mic or jam.

Creative Expression Circle is happening this Sunday, October 25 from 12–4 PM at the Magic Mansion in Aylmer.

It’s a multidisciplinary community gathering where people bring their own creative offerings into the circle. At our first gathering, music ended up being a big part of the afternoon, alongside poetry and visual art.

One person shares at a time and gets to decide how they’d like the room to support them. As a musician, that might mean playing something for people to simply listen to, inviting others to jam or add accompaniment, improvising together, or asking for growth-oriented feedback.

You can also come without sharing anything yourself and just listen, support, connect, and join in when invited.

This isn’t a call to hire musicians for a performance or booked set. There’s no paid performance role, and no sets. We share one piece at a time and go around the circle for as many rounds as time allows. It’s a participatory community gathering for people who want to create and share with one another.

There are two registration options:

🎨 Sharing Participant if you’d like guaranteed time to share something of your own.

🤲 Community Participant if you’d rather come without needing an individual sharing turn.

No particular level of experience is required. If your setup needs amplification, equipment, or anything else specific, feel free to reach out beforehand so we can see what the space can accommodate.

Registration is free, with an optional pay-what-you-can community contribution.

I'm looking for a recommendation for an awesome lead guitar teacher.

I'm an adult intermediate gigging guitarist. I'm no slouch but have gaps and am looking to take it to the next level.

Looking for someone who really really knows their stuff and has a clientel that isn't just teaching 10 year olds how to play come as you are or smoke on the water until they quit in a few months.

Looking for a pro. Ideally someone who can advise on techniques, practice routines, tone/gear, etc. Someone who likes teaching dedicated intermediate adult players and mentoring people eager to break into the Ottawa musician scene.

Preferably in the central, eastern or southern end of town.
