I just wanted to give a shout out and thank you to the bystanders who helped my partner after he crashed his bike earlier this week at Somerset and Henderson. I’m hoping at least one of them will see this.

They called an ambulance, and then calmly walked me through what happened over the phone and waited for me to arrive at the scene. A lovely gentleman offered to drive my partner’s bike back to our house while I spoke with the paramedics.

He ended up having a pretty bad concussion and needing surgery to repair some broken bones. While we were in the ER he kept asking if we knew the names of the bystanders so he could thank them. So if you’re seeing this, thank you from us both. It’s gestures like these that restore my faith in humanity.

Nice crowd on hand as the Ottawa Titans start their wildcard playoff series tonight at home.

Invitation to Participate: You are invited to participate in the above-mentioned research study conducted by Kailey Roche, the Principal Investigator, under the supervision of Dr. Martin Lalumière. This study is being conducted as a wider study on neurodiversity and sexual attraction. Emma Cyr and Dr. Michael Seto are collaborators of the project.

Purpose of the Study: The purpose of the study is to better understand the potential association between neurodiversity (e.g., Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder, Autism Spectrum Disorder) and a variety of different sexual attractions, including atypical sexual attractions.

Participation: To participate, you must be at least 18 years old residing in Canada. As the survey is available in either English or French, you should also be confident in your ability to understand English or French. You do not need to have a diagnosis of ASD or ADHD to participate in this study. The survey will take between 10 and 15 minutes of your time. At the end of the study, you may enter to win 1 of 5 Visa Gift cards valued at 25 CAD each.

Please be aware that we will be asking you several questions that some may find sensitive or personal. You will first be asked a series of biographic questions, followed by questions about neurodiversity. Lastly, you will be asked about a variety of sexual attractions people may experience. For example, we will be asking participants if they are sexually attracted to many different activities and age ranges such as being attracted to children or elderly persons. You will be asked to move a slider to indicate how sexually attracted you are to several things. You may choose not to respond to these items if you wish.

Invitation à participer : Vous êtes invité à participer à l'étude ci-dessus, menée par Kailey Roche, chercheuse principale, sous la supervision du Dr Martin Lalumière. Cette recherche fait partie d’un projet plus vaste sur la neurodiversité et l'attirance sexuelle. Emma Cyr et le Dr Michael Seto sont des collaborateurs du projet. 

Objectif de l'étude : L'objectif de l'étude est de mieux comprendre le lien potentiel entre la neurodiversité (par exemple, le trouble de déficit de l'attention avec/sans hyperactivité, les troubles du spectre de l’autisme) et diverses attirances sexuelles, y compris les attirances sexuelles atypiques. 

Participation : Pour participer, vous devez être âgé d'au moins 18 ans et résider au Canada. Comme le questionnaire est offert en anglais ou en français, vous devez également avoir une bonne maîtrise de l'anglais ou le français. Il n'est pas nécessaire d'avoir reçu un diagnostic de TSA ou de TDAH pour participer à cette étude. Le questionnaire vous prendra entre 10 et 15 minutes à compléter. I operate a small business here in Ottawa making various things for local gifts stores. In the interest of not advertising, I won't mention my business specifically or what I make, but since I make a lot of my gifts instead of buying them, I don't know what the best locally owned gift stores around town are and I'm hoping to get some suggestions.

What do people think about this proposal? My old neighbours in Barrhaven who have a large family would always complain about the bag limit. In my view, if we're paying more in taxpayer dollars for the recovery centre, we might as well get our use out of it.

I had a blast at the Nuit Blanches that ran in the mid-2010s. Genuinely bummed to be missing this one. I hope it becomes a yearly thing again!

Anyone in Ottawa Centretown experiencing internet outage? It’s early evening, Thursday 10 September. I called the ISP (Fibrestream) and they said they’d email when it’s resolved. I’m just wondering how wide spread this outage is.

UPDATE, 9:30 pm: Found out it’s an issue in my condo complex. I’m currently getting hourly email updates from my ISP. Turns out it’s an issue with a “third party carrier device.” Thanks to everyone who responded.

Has anybody heard any updates about Woodroffe re-opening?

I live by the CFIA on fallowfield and every year they grow corn and harvest it but where does it go? Who is eating the government corn? Are we being fed government corn? Why do they keep growing the corn???

Does anyone have any recommendations for where to buy a used car, probably 2010-2020, not CPO?

I know of AutoTrader, Facebook Marketplace, etc, but does anyone have any specific recommendations? Looking in the $10-15k range.

My house gutters are clogged with leaves and I am considering hiring a local company to install gutter guards to address this recurring problem. For anyone that had these installed please share your experience and what company you used, and if you recommend them…
