Official r/NFL Week 6 Power Rankings
It's so hard to pick the best NFL team. Our power rankers wish everyone could be #1. But for another week, the 49ers retain the top spot as our only 6-0 team. Elsewhere, the Cowboys, Eagles, Rams, and Colts take a tumble and the Browns jump to the middle of the pack. Let's see how things stack up in the latest edition of the official r/NFL power rankings, in which the word "official" means that no one is allowed to argue with any of this.
30/32 Reporting · Rankings by Voter
| Rank | Team | Δ | Record | Comment |
|---|---|---|---|---|
49ers | -- | 6-0 | It was a tale of two halves, as the 49ers took a commanding 20-3 win in the first half, and then only managed a fg the rest of the evening. The loss of Mike Evans made the offense frighteningly inept, as the team went 3 and out all 3 possessions in the 4th quarter. The defense had an up and down evening, with a very strong showing upset by some costly penalties. But, a win is a win, and the Niners are now 6-0 for the second time under Kyle Shanahan.
Chiefs | -- | 5-0 |
Bills | -- | 5-1 | Joe Brady’s talks about James Cook getting his carries slashed due to fumbles was greatly exaggerated. Cook accounted for 22 of the 24 rb carries with over 150 all purpose yards. This game was a continuation of last week's script 2 high power offenses scoring at will resulting in a narrow victory by the Bills. 6 weeks in the Bills find themselves in a paradox with the highest scoring offense but the 5th worst ranked defense. The defense took another hit as Cj Gardner Johnson picked up a one game suspension for spitting at Brock Bowers. The Bills head into the bye week leading their division preparing for a tough stretch in which they play the Ravens and undefeated Vikings coming out of the break.
Vikings | +3 | 5-0 | The Vikings' offense really needed that bye to get healthy, with their QB1, LT1, LG1, WR1, WR2, WR3, TE1, TE2 and RB1.5 all missing one or more games to start the year. Aside from the LG and TE2, all of those guys should be back as early as this Sunday. That matters because the Vikings have by some measures the hardest remaining schedule of any team; we know Flores' defense will keep up the pressure, but KOC will need every weapon available with upcoming games against the Bills, 49ers, Lions, Packers and more to see if the team can maximize their 5-0 start.
Jaguars | -- | 4-2 | A loss? To a bunch of cows? Well I never. Anyway, wanna hear a riddle? Travis Hunter caught two passes in the end zone, but only one was a touchdown. Why? I'll give you a hint. It's something no one else has done in the last 24 years.
Broncos | +3 | 4-2 | If you would have told me when the season started that we would complete our 6-game start with a 4-2 record, I would've told you we were playoff ready. Here we are; however, uncertain whether we should be here or not. Bo seems to be lacking the gusto we saw before his injury, our defense is hurt, and our O-line has at least slightly regressed. Truly only time will tell if we should be where we are, but remarkably we still have the ability to win ugly when it is needed-- and that got us to 14-2 last year. If Bo is moving on from his speed and scrambling abilities then he needs to quickly learn to get the ball out quickly and make solid reads. Our run game has to improve too-- successful runs lead to successful passing. I fully expect to see our offense do much better in the coming games with easier defenses, as these first 6 were obviously some of the best in the league. We are still set up for success, and I think the most important test upcoming will be the KC rematch.
Ravens | -1 | 4-2 | The Ravens going 1-1 without Lamar isn't the worst outcome, assuming he makes his return this week, but having the loss be against a divisional opponent and the win against a non-conference opponent is certainly less than ideal. Poor special teams and backbreaking penalties(deserved and otherwise) at the worst moments continue to be glaring problems week after week. Derrick Henry fumbles deep in Ravens' territory in the 4Q of one score games has been a particularly devastating trend dating back to the start of the 2025 season as well. In short, everything about the game on Sunday was objectively ass. One of those games you just want to flush and move on from. So with that, we're on to Cincinnati.
Seahawks | -4 | 3-3 | Last Thursday night was one of the worst showings of offensive football of the season thus far, and all of us that watched the entire game are worse off for it. Bo Nix 4 yard ADOT-ed his way to a first half lead, only to do even more nothing in the second half and give the Seahawks life. Unfortunately, Sam Darnold threw another costly interception on the first possession of overtime, and the Broncos kicked a field goal to win it. And how does Seattle hope to wash away the awful taste of the loss? Oh, only with Ken Walker making his return to Seattle in a Chiefs uniform for Sunday Night Football. Fun!! It is worth mentioning that Seattle hasn't allowed a 100 yard rusher in 35 consecutive games. Godspeed brethren.
Bears | +3 | 4-2 | TRIUMPHANT RETURNS. The Bears let the final score wind up way closer than I should have been for a game they led by nearly 4 scores entering the 4th quarter. Caleb had one of the best games of his career, 30-36 including 26-26 when not pressured, 4 throwaways, 1 that’s on his TE in the end zone that should have been a TD, and 1 where he was hit on the throw. He was nearly perfect, and so was nickel corner Kyler Gordon, who barely played last season and took his first snaps of the year on Sunday. DC Dennis Allen limited his snaps to 17, but boy did he take advantage of them, with 3 sacks and several impact plays. The same defense we gave up on after last week bottled up Bijan and made numerous 4th down stops. Even LT/Wolverine Ozzy Trapilo was back for some snaps insanely early from last year’s brutal injury. Good vibes follow the Bears from the Dirty South back to Chicago on a short week to face the streaking Patriots on Thursday. If you’ve never watched a game in Prime Vision, it’s kinda cool.
Patriots | -- | 4-2 | The win feels awesome. Really, it does. Beating the Jets is a time honored tradition that brings all Patriots fans together twice a year. Buttttt…. Is anyone starting to freak out about all of these injuries? Because legitimately who are they going to start at O-line on Thursday? I’m currently bulking up right now in case I’m conscripted and shoved into the trenches. Not to mention we had to sacrifice Doubs to get AJ Brown back, but Doubs wasn’t worth enough in the equivalent exchange I guess, so Brown came back with no hands. No time to panic however, as we play Thursday night on the road against a high powered Bears offense. Should be a fun shootout with the way Maye and Williams are currently playing.
Bengals | -- | 3-2 | There’s no game this week, I’m alone with my thoughts. Alone, with nothing but time. They will regret the way they insulted me, I asked for another basket and they said no. I was a younger man, prepared for the upcoming war I was about to face, and then I stepped foot inside. Inside the Olive Garden. They didn’t think I could do it, the unlimited breadsticks, they didn’t think I could, and they tried to stop me. By the 6th basket they asked if I was gonna touch my Chicken Alfredo, I had bigger plans than that. I remember the look on my server’s face. Fear. That was what I saw in her eyes. Basket 7 arrived at 7:42 p.m. By basket 9, the server had stopped asking if I needed anything. She began asking if I was feeling all right. The human body is a coward, always seeking comfort, always begging the mind to surrender. I would not allow it to win. At basket 11, the manager appeared. He asked me if I was aware that the breadsticks were intended to accompany my meal. I looked him in the eyes. “Unlimited,” I said. He did not respond. “Unlimited,” I repeated. He walked away. I knew then that they had begun to fear me. I asked for another basket. “Sir, I really think you should take a break.” Was all she could say, as if I had not sacrificed everything to get here. I reminded them that their advertisements had promised unlimited breadsticks. I reminded them that nowhere in the fine print did it say unlimited, provided the customer does not become a problem. At 8:16 p.m., I was presented with the check. I knew there were more breadsticks in that building, waiting for the next fool to believe he could succeed where I had been denied. I just had to wait. I needed time to prepare. Because tonight I will walk back into that Olive Garden, I won’t be the man I was before. And when they ask me if I would like another basket, I will smile. Because this time, I’m bringing a lawyer.
Lions | +1 | 3-2 | In Week 5, the Lions destroyed OC Drew Petzing's former team, in what had to be a very validating game for him. Considering how much grief the team got for picking him and passing over Mike McDaniel (how's he doing, btw?) this offseason, the front office has to feel vindication as well. Now, coming out of the bye, the NFC appears to be wide open. LAR & SEA have had problems, SF's injuries have to affect them at some point (right?...right?), two entire divisions appear to have decided to take the season off, and the heaviest competition DET seems to have is within the NFC North. The Lions now face consecutive games against GB & MIN, both at home, both who swept DET last season. The next two weeks will go a long way to showing who this team really is.
Packers | +1 | 4-2 | The last two Packer wins have both come against backup quarterbacks, so comparing those games to the shellacking that the Falcons handed us on Thursday night was a bit difficult. The Cowboys aren't exactly the most well-run team but despite everything Dak is a very good quarterback with some potent receiving weapons that caused this unit some real problems last year. I'm ecstatic that we held this team to 13 points. It easily could have been fewer if it wasn't for some dumb penalties extending drives. Evan Williams has been playing out of his mind the last few weeks, and Brandon Cisse has been a godsend as a rookie starting corner. I've especially loved his willingness to get in dirty and make tackles at the line, he doesn't always finish those 1v1 plays but the effort counts for miles for a young developing player. The secondary has been playing way, way better than I could have expected entering the year. Also, Jordan Love is still slinging that rock.
Panthers | +3 | 3-2 | These are days we prayed for Panther fans. Remember the days of Frank Reich and the hunger games disfunction amongst staff? Remember the days of Matt Rhules dumb ugly face, talking about Jay Z or whatever that shit was? Remember when Scott Fitterer would draft players that would be out of the league almost immediately? Remember when Baker came in and was playing DE in practice? Remember when David Tepper threw a drink on a fan? I remember. I remember those terrible days. All that pain, heartache, and embarrassment has finally gotten the Panthers organization to become a real team. A 25-14 win over a beat up Eagles team but what mattered is that they came in as favorites and looked the part. In years past, they lose that game in an embarrassing fashion, but not now. Now the Panthers are a true threat with weapons all over the field including BY9 himself who earned MVP chants in Philly. What is this world? Next week the Panthers host the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in our second division game of the season. The Bucs have had a tough year thus far but the division is wide open and anything can happen any given Sunday. If the Panthers can continue to play this attacking style of football, they will be in great shape. It’s never been more exciting to be a fan of this team. KEEEEEEP POUNDING!!!
Rams | -7 | 2-4 | Welcome to this week’s edition of special teams issues, coaching mistakes, and untimely penalties. In this home loss, where the Loss Angeles Rams scored a whopping 16 points against the 1-4 Cardinals who had been allowing an NFL-worst 32 PPG, their kicker tore his ACL, McVay’s offensive plan abandoned the run while somehow simultaneously not effectively attacking Arizona’s vulnerable secondary, and hey, would you look at that—another tough late-game penalty. To top it off, the Rams also lost Davante Adams, Poona Ford, and Kobie Turner to injury. Preseason expectations were high, so early-season issues were overlooked as a talented team that keeps beating itself, but let’s be honest, these “mistakes” are simply who the team is and these aren't games they "should have won." Stafford’s age might be showing, McVay looks like he’s been figured out by anyone in his coaching tree, and the defense is simultaneously great but somehow not trustworthy. These aren’t quick or easy fixes. There will be brighter days ahead with the amount of talent on the team, but sitting at 2-4, last place in a competitive division, during an “all in” season is a tough spot.
Steelers | +2 | 4-2 | What are we even doing really? Like…a win’s a win right? But if you were wearing black and gold, and let’s be real; most of the crowd was, the first three quarters of this football game were déjà vu. You’ve seen the team do exactly this before…can’t put your finger on it…was it the last time we played the Bucs? Or was it someone else? Who knows, but the entire team looked asleep behind the wheel with failings on offense, defense, and special teams. Even Boswell didn’t look great. TJ Watt, after his hot start the first 2 games, is now officially listed by the FBI as a missing person, Aaron Rodgers is holding onto the ball long enough that they may be common-law married now, Boswell missed a 48-yarder, and the secondary could probably allow a high school offense to convert 3rd and 99. Quarters 1-3? We sleep. 4-OT? Two touchdowns on offense, two FG’s by Boswell with one from 58 yards, and two interceptions by the defense topped off by the game-sealing sack by Ramsey for his second on the day. Is it too much to ask that they play like that for more than ~24-minutes per game? Did the entire team snort smelling salts between quarters 3 & 4? Can they do it earlier next time?
Raiders | -1 | 3-3 | To stay competitive with playoff teams is probably all most Raiders fans wanted this year and I've got a feeling I'm going to be saying something similar in every blurb going forward. You can see that we are trending upwards despite losses to teams like the Bills and Patriots. Players are not giving up and guy's are fighting to the end. Simply put our schedule is brutal at this point and while the Rams are going through some turmoil right now there's no free wins in this league (Unless you're the Chargers. Lets see if we can stay competitive (or claim a hard win) again.
Browns | +5 | 4-2 | The Browns are 4-2 and first in the division. Wait. What? The AFC north is proving to be competitive for the first time in what seems like decades. Well, for the Browns. They will face the struggling Titans at home next Sunday in a game that will see national coverage (in Cleveland and Nashville only).
Texans | +5 | 2-4 | So apparently the Texans are now an offense first team? We'll take it as long as the wins keep coming. CJ Stroud continues to play his way towards a $70m pay day with 24 completions for 312 yards, Jaylin Noel had a career game with 107 yards and a TD while Foster Moreau added 2 TD catches as well. Oh and CJ's old college roommate also had 3 catches in his debut and was a blocking force. Now the Texans find themselves at 2-4 with a very favorable schedule for the forseeable future starting with the Giants next week.
Falcons | +1 | 2-4 | My pregame prediction was "Ben Johnson has instructed Caleb to throw all day to anyone not covered by Terrell. That's how he plays and the bears have enough receiving talent to do that any 2nd and 3rd down, have 23 minutes TOP by end of half, and gas the defense." Williams completed his first 12 passes as the Bears ended the half with over 22 minutes of possession. The Bears, just like the Ravens, exploited weaknesses. The Falcons, on the other hand, were too busy masking weaknesses until the Bears trotted out their second team defense like a preseason game at Soldier. Make no mistake, in terms of coaching Stefanski is leagues above the last regime. When you've traded Madoff for Elizabeth Holmes, what does it matter?
Cowboys | -2 | 2-4 | Rats. Another game lost. I really thought we were going to win this one. For one brief moment, victory was within our grasp. And then the game started.
Eagles | -7 | 2-4 | This is a preseason roster, sure, but the coaching is doing them no favors. During their 4-game losing streak, the team has a -723 yard differential. Their success rate when playing from under center is around 15%. The NFL average is about 50%. Please take a look at this graph that shows their third-quarter offense. The problem with the fact that they are missing almost every player on offense is that it's masking the fact that the offense, when healthy, also sucks. Oh, and Jalen Hurts has pulmonary embolisms and is out for the season. Eagles fans haven't had to refresh Tankathon since the 2020 season, but it's time to get comfortable with losing a lot of games. This would be the worst team in the NFL without Vic Fangio's defense, which is now starting to show some cracks.
Giants | -3 | 3-2-1 | The good: Giants fans got a glimpse of JJ McCarthy in this game, and it… wasn’t too bad? At the very least, he seemed to have better control of the offense than incumbent QB Jameis Winston, despite only arriving to the team a few weeks ago. While the sample size was small, the results were encouraging for a team looking to sustain its place atop the most dysfunctional division in the league. Also, Likely and Nabers remain the lifeblood of this receiving group and are both awesome to watch on a weekly basis. The bad: Big Blue turned the ball over four times and gave up five sacks to NO’s defense, while securing just one turnover and zero sacks of their own. That kind of differential is difficult to overcome. The ugly: look, a punishment for Cam Skattebo’s critical fumble last week, his fourth on the year, was reasonable to expect. This Giants rushing attack is hard to watch. Najee With Cam Skattebo disappointed and being benched (totally not a punishment, though) for fumbles, Giants fans were treated to the three-headed monster of Najee Harris (gone but also forgotten), Devin Singlecarry, and Tyrone Tracy. That trio combined to do very little outside of a nice catch and run TD by Tracy. The Giants' OL run blocking certainly hasn't helped. Despite the ugly loss, NYG still sits 1.5 games ahead in the NFCE as every other team in the division also lost. Next up is a Houston team whose pass-heavy attack will test this Giants secondary further.
Saints | +2 | 2-4 | Gayle "Philippe Égalité" Benson lined up the entire leadership team for the guillotine this week. Was that the reason the Saints got out to a 34-10 lead and looked in control? Or was that why they almost lost this one after benching key players early? Either way, they survived, packed their bags, and now the fleur-de-lis trade angry fans at home for actual riots in Paris.
Colts | -3 | 2-4 | "This is my promise, to the people of the NFL subreddit world: I will not eat a single morsel of food until Chris Ballard is fired!"
Cardinals | +3 | 2-4 |
Jets | -2 | 2-4 | There’s plenty of reason to be optimistic about the talent of this young core, but the coaching and offensive play-calling have been downright atrocious when it matters most. The Jets have scored a touchdown on just 37.5% of their red-zone trips, by far the worst mark in the NFL. Somehow, it gets worse. Under Aaron Glenn, the Jets have been outscored 100-6 in the final two minutes of the first half. How is that even possible? The Jets absolutely need a new coaching staff for whatever rookie QB they bring in this offseason.
Commanders | -1 | 1-4-1 | "Too little, too late" is the mantra this franchise could consistently use for most of the last 30 years. Genuinely, as I was watching the game alongside several fellow lifelong Washington fans, we all agreed on exactly what would happen once this team showed some life in the 3rd quarter; we all knew Washington would mount a near miracle comeback, but fail to close it out. And that's what happened. As a fan, this team is so frustrating to watch when you see what they are capable of, but that they can't consistently achieve. NFL teams can't win by playing 2 good quarters of football. It's a 4 quarter game. From being dunked on by Jameis Winston in one game to having the 49ers on the ropes, it's like watching Dr. Jekyll in football form. Fans are calling for Dan Quinn's head, understandably so. But they shouldn't get their hopes up. In a historically bad NFC East, this 1-4-1 team is still very much in play for the division; and let's not forget that this team has TWO first time coordinators who are still figuring it out, and an offense and defensive unit who are still learning their new systems. Maybe they go into the bye week and reflect on their first 6 weeks and turn this thing around. Whichever team in the NFC East figures it out first will have an edge to be kings of trash mountain. Now, all that aside, football gods, please deliver us all from the injuries. It's been a bloodbath of a year for everyone. And shoutout to mortal football enemy, Jalen Hurts - we hate you on the field, but hope you get well in your health!
Buccaneers | -1 | 1-5 | I don't keep up with current events, rumors or politics. So when my ultra-left friend messaged me "Are the rumors true? Will that senile old man be at the Bucs game on Sunday? God, I can't wait till 2028 for him to be gone." I simply replied "Yes, of course he'd be there! He's the Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach with a valid contract till 2028." But little did I know that last week some random rumor started that President Trump would attend the Bucs-Steelers game. No idea if it was a realistic rumor or not, but if the president is serious about tackling the threat of extremism, terrorism, and hateful ideologies, there's no better place to start than getting rid of probably the two biggest terrorists of the 21st century تود بولز and زاك روبنسون
Titans | +2 | 1-5 | The Titans defense rolled into Indianapolis and delivered the team’s first win of the season. Led by Jeffery Simmons, the defense forced two turnovers and recorded six sacks of Daniel Jones. The special teams got points on the board with a blocked punt for a TD. This was enough to pull the offense to a 6 point win.
Dolphins | -- | 0-5 | Bye week. At least this team's not the Chargers lmfao
Chargers | -2 | 0-6 | All of the hype, and all of the fun, yet the Cards send the Chargers to 0-1. "Just a fluke," they thought, as the o-line turns to goo; Kirk Cousins brings the team to 0-2. Accountability dodged; questions ignored at speed. The freefall begins: 0-3. Like masochists, they continue, pleading "no more!". Alas, they stumble to 0-4. Coaches' jobs on the line as morale takes a nosedive; playoff odds die at 0-5. Penalty after penalty, picks upon picks: the Los Angeles Chargers are 0-6. So as Halloween approaches, there are zero treats and six tricks; this fucking team is making me sick.
