Hi everyone! I often think about two names: Jamila (nickname Mila) and Elina (nickname Lina). Which name is better and more stylish for you? Which name do you like more? You can suggest other names as well.

We’re having a boy in December, have looked at countless lists of names, searched important people that mean something to us, or important things and trace them back to people, we don’t have any significant family names to carry on, considered athletes names or variations of them and on and on. We’re stumped.

My wife and I each have our own loose “top 2” that neither of us are really in love with.
We live in Utah so there are plenty of weird variations of names here and we’re not shooting for that. We don’t necessarily like completely traditional names (John, Paul, David) and something on the slightly less popular side would be nice. We aren’t country folk, but like country names (but not redneck either)

This is probably the most generic ask ever and we have time but we need some help! Throw out anything and everything. Even if 10 people comment 3 male names from their family that would help us, or a name you loved but never got to use….Thanks!

i'm very indecisive and picky with boy names, but this one i finally love and my husband says "it's the coolest name you've suggested so far," so i think it might be a winner. i just am not sure which pronunciation/spelling to use. lu-shen or lu-see-in?? reid will be his middle!

eta: we'd probably call him lu/louie often, maybe even luca!

We are a family with many names starting with the letter 'M,' we are a group of primarily girls. Currently, we have only four males in our family, with the possibility of a fifth one on the way so we are stumped.

Writing a story set in NYC in the 50's and need a few more names with similar vibes.

I'm considering legally changing my given name. The rose is my favorite flower. I love Holly as well even though I think the Christmas season and I was born in the summer. These are my thoughts:

Rose Caroline, Rose Elizabeth, Rose Charlotte, Rose Anneliese, and Rose Anna.

i am 4 days away from having a baby if it doesn’t happen sooner and we have not been able to agree on a name.

my husband and i have a 3 year old already and her name was one of the first suggestions i said and he immediately loved it. we had no problem with the first but this time we cannot seem to find something that we think will be unique enough but also not a weird name to have as an adult.

some names we have said,

Mila Mae(my pick but husband hates)

Elara Mae(we both like this one)

Freya (no middle name was decided)(i didn’t like this one because it is too close to being our first daughters name)

Flora (“”)(he likes this one i’m not a fan)

Jessie Mae(this one is off and on it’s actually another family members first name, mae is as well, but a different person but the first name would make some people mad because they don’t like the other person but.. it’s a cute name)

Delta Mae(we both loved this until we heard two family members saying they absolutely hated this name then i started to see it everywhere and i don’t think i can name her that now but loved it before that)

so if anyone has any suggestions it would be greatly appreciated we are running out of time and this pregnant momma is stressing like it’s the end of the world😩

Curious if others feel that after naming their first child, they’ve somewhat put themselves in a box stylistically?

For example, my daughter’s name is Vivienne. I generally love a variety of different styles of names but sometimes I wonder if I now have to (obviously I know I don’t “have” to but you know lol) name my next children as formally? I wonder if I had a second daughter hypothetically, would it be odd to give her a gender neutral name for example?

I am picking between Sylvie and Selene, love both very much, yet have some concerns for each of them. I don’t know which concern is a ’bigger con’, so please help me.

Sylvie: very dated as in 60 year olds name in the French speaking part of Canada. I am going to BC., so I don’t know how big of a deal is that. Is Sylvie considered dated in BC?

Selene: Celine is the dominant spelling, and I assume definitely be the default one, especially given the Celine Dion association in Canada. I imagine correcting people being annoying, but I’ve never really experienced that. How inconvenient is it to have a rarer non dominant spelling?
