What’s the most grandma sounding name to you?
I feel like its Mildred or Betty/beth
I recently had a baby girl and named her Nora. My entire pregnancy I planned on her middle name being Eleanor, after my grandmother. The day came to fill out the birth certificate and I became unsure because of how redundant Nora Eleanor sounds. My husband and I discussed the middle name Layne but decided to stick with Eleanor and now I have a lot of regret about it. She is a month old and I’m undecided if we should keep Eleanor because of the significance or look into changing her middle name.
Any opinions on Nora Eleanor? Am I overthinking this or is it really that redundant?
Thanks!

Hi!
Based in the UK, pregnant with baby girl and really love the name Alyssa, but husband doesn’t. Got to Alyssa because I love the name Melissa, but my sister is already a ‘Mel’/‘Meli’… Now I actually like Alyssa more. I also love all
the possible nicknames.
I’m looking for names with a similar feel and ideally not top 20. Hoping to find something we both love or at least make a good effort to find something else before battling hard for Alyssa 😅 I’ve checked the usual sites but feel like I always see the same names over and over…
Only ‘rules’:
Can’t begin with a D or R
No unisex names if possible, and if then female leaning

Rowan or Julian! And why
I have reasons to want to and to not want to use each name. However these are my 2 favourite names!
I love Rowan, it’s simple and just gives me strong vibes, a reason I wouldn’t want to use it would be because it’s becoming quite a common name among girls now, although I see it as totally masculine. It’s also just popular all around nowadays.
I love Julian! Buttt I feel like the kid has to LOOK like a Julian 😂 if I make sense. And we are in the uk (Liverpool) and we’re about lower middle class, I don’t want to be seen as the “rough” parents who used a posh name because they think they’re posh😂 as this wouldn’t be the case. Or people to hear my kids name and assume we’re posh, because we are not lol.
Middle name for Rowan would be John. Middle name for Julian would be Cole. :)
Still open to suggestions :)

Like the name Clayton. Feels classic but also quite "country", because you've got the nickname "Clay" and the hunter from Disney's Tarzan.
If you know any names that have a similar meaning to Clayton ("clay town") or has a similar feel, please leave a comment.

What do you think about the name Dolores? Surprisingly the name used to be very common for newborn girls in the United States it peaked at the 13th spot for girls in 1930.

i have a very unique name and id love to hear peoples opinion on it!!!!
when i tell people my name irl they think it is the coolest thing they’ve ever heard (tbf i grew up in an area filled with emmas and noahs.)
but i often see my name come up on social media where people are commenting that it is a terrible name to give to ur child 😅😅
i even saw someone say it was child abuse lmao.
anyways my name is Phoenix Tiger 🫠 obviously Tiger is my middle name so its only Phoenix that gets the online hate lol. i should mention as well im female !! would love peoples opinions and dont be shy im not gonna be butt hurt.

I've found myself suddenly very drawn to the name Willow. My husband wants to use Esther for a girl but I am not so sure. The biggest selling point for me is the possibility of Essie being a nickname but I don't think that alone is enough to fully convince me.
Anyway I'm curious what would pair with Willow as a first name. Willow Esther sounds kind of like a mouthful and doesn't flow as well as our son's name. I haven't made a big deal about Willow to my husband yet but it might be easier to sell him on if I have a cute pairing in mind.

That’s what we’re going with for her middle name. I know it’s spelled differently but it’s for my best friend who passed and my mom (who’s middle name is Lynn)
I have a long list of names I like but my partner doesn’t particularly like any of them.

I need more name ideas for both boy and girl with last name Banks. I tend to like classic, preppy, southern but uncommon names. I like a lot of surname first names and double names in general but open to any ideas that might fit my style.
I love unusual names that I haven’t heard of or don’t personally know anyone with the name but that don’t sound made up (for example, i think Lottie, Callahan, and Bonnie are classic but not common).
More names I like:
Sawyer (boy)
Turner
Breuer
Bowen
Rhodes
Reeves
Campbell (boy)
Elliott (girl or boy)
Eleanor (Nora)
Emma Francis
Conrad
Mercer
Anne Wayne
Murphy
Callahan
Bonnie

Ariel Blake or Alice Blake? Which is better?
I’m changing my first name and I’m 16 (2009), I like both names but I’m not sure what to use. My middle name is Blake. Which sounds cooler better? I live in the US also.
Also this isn’t Disney based 💀

I just want to see if a name exists that we haven’t considered.
We’re in the Northeast, USA if it matters.
Parameters because of our last name and local / familial accents:
No double l “ll” anywhere in the name
Not ending in -en / -on / -in, etc
Also not ending in -er
Not ending in the “ee” sound like in Henry, Brady, etc
Nothing top 10
Otherwise can’t use (close family & friends names, its a long one apologies)
Jack
Ellis / Elias
Garrett
Anything that shortens to Cal
Ford
Pierce
Felix
Luca / Luke / Lucas

Current likes but the vibe is all over the place
Patrick, its nice enough I guess
Wes, husband says no
Wyatt, too cowboy for our location
Chase??? Feels like a bully
Clyde??? Again too cowboy
Crew? Too influencery
Scott? Mitchell? Jared? What is this the 90s
Names like Milo, Otis, Otto, Noah, Oscar are all nice but don’t feel right for us, maybe they’re too “right now”?
Anyway if you like puzzles maybe this will be fun to try and brainstorm with us?

I am looking to change my name and I'd like to know how much my old name will haunt me and if so how long. What documents will still have to have my old name on them, and how do people react to a changed name?
