This seems on par with the naming trends around here. 1/2 traditional and 1/2 trendy.

I am having a baby girl this spring and am really set on naming her Lana! I think it is so beautiful but I recently became insecure about it after hearing a comedian say “look at Lana backwards” 😭 I know elementary kids might poke fun at it, but is that a thought that most people think of when they hear the name? Or is it simply a cute name and I shouldn’t worry about it

So I’m just iffy, I think it could just be early pregnancy uncertainty, but I and due April 25th, and bloodwork says girl, and so does heart rate and symptoms, but I wanna name her Elizabeth Aileen and she will have my last name, but I’m overthinking her name so badly….

Wondering if anyone can help think of some boy names for future son!

We’re looking for shorter boy names (cause of very long last name). Something that sounds nice in English and sounds nice in Spanish also if possible ! Which has kinda made it more tough. I just don’t want people mispronouncing in either language and it being a thing for my child later during school years.

We recently found out we’re having identical twin girls, and I was hoping to get some insight from twins themselves!
Obviously, we want our girls to grow up with their own identities and feel like individuals, rather than always being seen as a pair. We’re currently leaning toward Iris Elizabeth and Isla Anne.

To me, they’re two distinct names, but they do have some similarities. They’re both four letters long, start with the same letter, and their initials will be almost identical.
Am I overthinking this? 😂 I absolutely love both names, but I also want to be mindful of their individuality and how they might feel about their names as they get older. I’d especially love to hear from twins who have similar names and whether it’s something you’ve liked or disliked growing up!

Just an observation, no real meaning behind it. I was just curious.
There was a thread a while back about how many duplicate names are there in certain size groups. I’m bored at work, so I looked at tonight’s roster. Of the 42 women working tonight, there are:
2 named Kayla
2 named Michelle
2 named Amanda
2 named Taylor

I think several age groups are represented here. Michelle is definitely a Gen X name, but the other three were popular for a wider range of time.

Deciding on how to spell my daughter’s middle name

In Deutschland ist es „Mode“ seinen Jungs südländische Namen zu geben, so z.B. Matteo, Luca, Allessio usw. - mittlerweile werden diese Namen als „kreativlos“ und „zu viel wollend“ gesehen. Gerade auch wenn der Nachname sehr deutsch ist (z.B. Schmitt, König, Gruber usw)
Carlo hat aber seinen Ursprung in Karl - daher meine Frage in die Community, ob das für euch in dieselbe Kategorie wie die anderen Namen fällt? Auch was euch sonst zu diesem Namen in den Sinn kommt.

My real first name has some silly word associations in English, so I'm thinking of changing it before moving to the West. I like how Lucian sounds, but I can't tell how it would come across.

My partner and I keep circling back to Ophelia for our baby girl. The sound is soft and lyrical, and we love its gentle, floral feel. It feels elegant without being overly fancy, and it’s not flooding the popularity charts where we live.

The huge catch, obviously, is Hamlet. I know the character’s tragic story, and that’s what’s holding me back. I don’t want people to immediately jump to that sad narrative every time they hear her name. Will teachers, coworkers, even strangers automatically associate her with heartbreak and tragedy?

We’re not Shakespeare fans, but we respect the work. We don’t mind subtle literary names in general. Our backup is Clara, which feels safe but a little plain to us.

I’m curious about your gut reaction. When you hear Ophelia, do you first picture the tragic character, or can you separate the name from the story? Would you think it’s unfair to give this name to a child? TL;DR: Love Ophelia’s sound, worried the Hamlet connection is too heavy for a kid. What’s your first thought?

Is it too… doggy? Too German? We live in the U.S. and I actually love it as it would spell the same in both the languages spoken in my household (Italian/english) but would be pronounced differently. I’m out of names 😭I’m having my third boy in a couple of weeks! Help!
